I don’t get why the hole is getting bigger as I go. Iv restarted 3 times and I feel like I’m getting nowhere. What am I doing wrong??

How did you go? Did you get it worked out?
Do you mean your scrunchie is getting wider with each round? If so the easiest thing to do is count every stitch so each round you have 17 stitches…all the best

I too faced the same problem and also the same 3 times me too have restarted. Count the 17 stitches including the two chains we do in the beginning of every row.. I did it & got it perfect 👍
