@@xrrgr yes! she first started on the national tour (where this video is from) and then went on to have several runs on broadway and a few more national tours. her most recent production was on broadway in 2019! she's played alongside several well-known elphabas, such as lindsay mendez, willemijn verkaik, and carmen cusack just to name a couple. i think this video actually shows her prowess for glinda pretty well---this was only her first time production the role and she already has such a great way of showing the wide range of emotions glinda is going through. for me, she's probably my favorite act 2 glinda. there are a ton of amazing actresses that have played her, but i think that a lot of the nuance of her character gets lost in act 2 or played up for laughs (even more than act 1), but katie always delivers through the whole show
@@izzypedal6371 yeah i’ve seen a few other vids and slime tutorials of her and she’s a very good guilt-ridden Glinda, i especially love her Thank Goodness acting
@@xrrgr guilt-ridden is such a perfect description! idk what you've watched but i really love her chemistry with donna vivino's elphaba, i'd highly recommend if you havent seem any slime tuts w them both!
@ oooh i would love to see vids of her with donna, i’ve only seen vids of her with willemjin and carmen. i love donna as elphaba, i watched her tut with alli. do you know where i can find a vid of katie and donna together? 💚
She truly is the best actress to play the role. Every single Glinda has been incredible and brought so many different things to the role, but KRC really captured Glindas anguish and depth in act 2 better than anyone I've seen. Truly incredible.
Astounding how poignantly Katie Rose Clarke expresses how Glinda indeed could NOT be happier at this point. Her choices (aligning herself with the "Goodness" of a corrupt Wizard and prioritizing the fickle crowd whose adoration is based on a mere illusion of her over Fiyero and Elphaba who know the real Glinda) have trapped her into performing happiness instead of ever experiencing it.
Megan HAS to be up there as well. I will also always champion Jennifer Laura Thompson. The second standby and first replacement in Broadway. She truly set the tone for what Glinda became. Kristen did an incredible job originating the role, but if you look at a lot of the deadpan humor and the over the top Popular and even the emotional depth was truly started with her. She changed the game and was the true template for the role. She deserves some recognition.
UA-cam just suggested that I watch someone else do this, from three months ago. And I’m like…no. So I hunted down the version of this that I like best, and I found it. It’s this one. This is the best version I’ve seen. As I said in that other video: I’m not impressed by belters. I like folks who can sing and emote. So this version fits the bill for me.
Anyone notice the conductor cued in the band too early at 1.22? You can tell Katie hesitates slightly and even looks to them at 1.34 to check what happened. She looks a bit spooked but powers through. Only a tiny thing but amazing the band quickly corrected.
I just realized something- I think Hilferty made a character driven choice for this costume in having one arm bare and bedazzled and the other covered in a full sleeve. It’s not for just the “twisted Edwardian” look. Could it also be to show the duality of Glinda at this moment? The inner conflict of doing what’s politically correct over what she knows is right? Could it also represent that she’s still trying to hold on to the person she was at Shiz and having doubts about her current role in Oz? If that’s the case I think it makes “Thank Goodness” even more poignant and is just another detail that drives home the importance of the scene- Glinda is NOT okay even though she has, yet again, gotten what she wanted in life.
And this is why she’s played the part on and off for 12 years
wow fr?

Absolutely one of the best. Her voice and acting are just phenomenal. Probably the best all around Glinda there has been.

The emotion in this video has a choke hold on me, KRC is truly spectacular
She’s incredible 😢
Im.so.glad. i got to see her perform
She is the most underrated Glinda ever!
She’s still the best there’s ever been. Brittney and Alli were also amazing, Katie just clinches it with this song.
Megan hilty is also amazing

I agree about Megan, I’ve never been particularly impressed with Jennifer but we can disagree
Literally the best acted ive seen in the role..
Katie was my first Glinda and will ALWAYS be my favorite. 💖

Hard same.
I saw her 4 times last year, she’s was great!
My favorite Glinda 🥹
She’s anything but happy, but she’s sure trying to talk herself into believing she is. So well acted! Bravo!
01:53 ese cambio de notas que hizo fue BRILLANTE ✨.
I love her 💗
I just made the connection that she is the Glinda I saw in 2011. Crying

They had to wait for her to catch up. It appeared she lost the thread for a sec while taking a beat and the pit-and conductor-weren't prepared.
Her uncomfortably in this scene is pallpable! Arguably the most emotional Glinda. Briliant!
Hermoso

This is a really cool thought! Considering the amount of thought Hilferty put into her costumes, probably.
Is it just me or did it get faster than usual around 1:50
prolly just u 🤧
Definitely very fast
Yeah the conductor def rushed through it. Also at 1:22
Ariana you have 24 hours to respond lol
