Lyrics
How does it feel to treat me like you do?
When you've laid your hands upon me and told me who you are
I thought I was mistaken, I thought I heard your words
Tell me how do I feel
Tell me now, how do I feel
Those who came before me lived through their vocations
From the past until completion, they'll turn away no more
And still I find it so hard to say what I need to say
But I'm quite sure that you'll tell me just how I should feel today
I see a ship in the harbor
I can and shall obey
But if it wasn't for your misfortune, I'd be a heavenly person today
And I thought I was mistaken, and I thought I heard you speak
Tell me, how do I feel
Tell me now, how should I feel
Now I stand here waiting
I thought I told you to leave me when I walked down to the beach
Tell me how does it feel, when your heart grows cold, grows cold, cold

As someone who lived through the 80s, this video is SO 80s.
Born in 82 & the 80’s will ALWAYS be my favorite music!! Not much 80’s metal but 80’s rock & pop!
@@12bravo57 And for me industrial, hardcore punk, gothic rock, Post-punk, Metal (that wasn’t glam), experimental, no wave, noise rock, ska, synthpop, smooth soul, etc etc. But guess what? Unlike many, I still wouldn’t say it’s my favorite decade for music (or film). I know, how dare I? Aside from all the popular stuff everyone knows (I like a lot of it), I think it was a great decade for a lot of different music, yet I’d say that was the case for music that came after that decade (also not the appropriate/cool thing to say but oh well).
@claudia lucky you, i was born in 1985 😑

Maybe it is a psychiatric test.
Hi, anyone knows what happen with the live video of Blue Monday with a lot of views? Now there are other versions left but I really need the original video, if anyone can help me I would thank you very much!
1:06 you could have mentioned the canine's ass. And yeah, many days I do feel like a dog's butthole.
@@nightowl2938 It wouldn't be the first time there's been arguments about the rights to these songs. Their original label mishandled a lot.
The 1980's.
There will never be another decade like it.
It is definitely unique
So far the 2020's are basically a nightmare so still not as bad 1930's, Great Depression, then 1940's with WW2, but we are getting horribly close.

Being in your 20s in the 80s. What a time to be alive. Clubbing all night w best friends and managing to go to work w only a couple hours' sleep then doing it all over again that night. Hormones, great music and alcohol...what an elixer.

I always laugh when people says X was the last decade of good times - dude did you forget we were all convinced we were gonna die in WW3? the stock market crash of 87? if anything the 90s were far better - cold war over, end of the soviet union, recovery from the crash, beginning of the internet but before it got dark, we had nothing to worry about (relatively speaking).

This song is so timeless...
When this song came out in 1983 I thought to myself "This song will like you said be timeless" I like the remix but the original for me is the best song of the 80's without a doubt !!!
I prefer the origional version. Still got the original 12" album
This remix was seen as a bit of an abomination by some hard-core New Order fans at the time
paved its way for house music, still good for todays standards

I was born in 1970 as well. My brother in 1976. Pretty much the same for us. These 80's tunes are amazing.
I know I'm wayyy late but you and your sister have the same birth years as me and my brother. He was born 1970 and I was born 1974. I liked this song a lot.
@@MzCoffee123 That's pretty cool. We are from another era. The pre-internet one.
I was lucky enough to live through it and this song is the beat of my college years! It never gets old.
You are def lucky to have survived this song, I can't even survive it for 15 seconds
If I had Time Machine I’d go back to the 80s to be in a club and hear this for the first time 😢😢
Here's the thing about this music and the 80's (when I was in college here in NYC): This was primarily dance music. Ultimately, IDEALLY, you wanted to be on the dance floor while it played and living life to the fullest- sharing the very same moment in time with the rest of humanity. Most all of we "clubbers" were high on something (coke and/or alcohol), but truthfully, the music was THE powerful uniting force. You didn't have to be under the influence of any kind of chemical substance- the music was the only drug anyone really needed. It made 4, 5, 6 hours of dancing seem like nothing. You felt so alive, and you just wanted that perfect moment of art, energy, and a complete embrace and love of life to last forever. I can still feel the power of that moment now, over 30 years later, as I listen to this now.
A dream I will never fulfill
nah, yeah, shit's still like that now
alcohol does the trick if there aren't any drugs available though
Well fucking said sir
Boy howdy, the best years ever, 1982 - 1986. We'd head to the clubs (San Francisco, Fremont, Sacramento) if we were lucky could check our coats & purses in at the counter and head to the DANCE FLOOR, or one of many themed rooms showing videos. The 80's, Culture Club, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Wham, The Cure, Talking Heads, ABC, Yazoo, Fine Young Cannibals, New Order (duh) Talk Talk, Billy Idol, INXS, Robert Palmer, Depeche Mode, Madness, Prince, Midnight Oil, Clash, U2, The Fixx, Oingo Boigo, etc. Or get so lucky to see General Public (After the Beat broke up), B-52, Bowie, The Police, Missing Persons, The Thompson Twins, Huey Lewis & the News, Romeo Void.
if you were in college in the '80s then you have no say
What is phenomenal about this song is how long it took to gain popularity in the US. It was released in 1983. The first time i heard it was in a discoteque in 1986 in Puerto Vallarta. It was so enthralling to dance to, it was just everything with the rhythm & the melody & the words what do they mean. I never heard it on the radio anywhere in the US, but i started hearing it in dance clubs in 1987. Then, in 1988 it just blew up in all the clubs & when it came on, the dance floor filled. 5 years is a really long time for a song to catch on.
Yup
I think it's because it came out before the internet was a thing and word of mouth can be really slow. Also I can't remember ever hearing this song on TV at the time.
Im so blessed myy father showed me all his music, its a shame what music became these days.
The 80s were the peak of civilization.
Exactly .. I was a teen-ager too .. Our generation is so lucky to have danced on these incredible songs !!
Me too
You don't have to be born in the 80s to listen to 80s music...I really don't understand young people being like ''I WaS boRn iN tHe wRoNg geNeRation''...We have access to all the music we want and if you don't like modern music just don't listen to it. It's so simple.
Ok boomer
Yeah I gotta agree with u on that ! I‘m 18 now and I only like a few new songs
So was I and give anything to go bacj

This is the bench marks for EDM even today. I don’t think people realize how devastatingly brilliant and genius this song in its technical aspect. It’s remarkable and that they did this in the late 80s without and M1 or MLS computers

I listened to this song today about Blue Monday.😊
This version "Blue Monday 88" was officially produced by Quincy Jones and remixed by John Potoker. (with the instrumental flip being titled "Beach Buggy"). To make it more funky, QJ added a funky guitar and a more modified percussion. Besides, the was shortened by several minutes and featuring added vocal effects, appears on the Substance video collection released as a companion to the album of the same name. It features sketches by photographer William Wegman and his Weimaraner dog named Fay Ray doing balancing acts intercut with hand-drawn animation by Robert Breer.
And in 1995 there's another version of Blue Monday remixed by the germans Hardfloor
And this version is so bloody INFERIOR to the original, it's a joke!!!

Miss the experimental fun and whimsy of early popular video. How stoked we'd be to catch a New Order video :)
You lot in the 80s were lucky to have this music, music nowadays makes you regret having ears
A combination of late new wave and early 80s disco. It was originally created in 84-85 so hence the connection. I like the sound a great deal and remember this tune. I was in my late 20s when it came out. We could use music like this now as opposed to what we all have now.
Disco influences were evident
Fun fact: this song was meant to be an outro, used in concerts (so I've read). Now the band is best know because of it!
It was to be played before the bands encore so they could go for a drink and smoke while the crowd were still being entertained
