Tara didn’t know. Peter confirmed that Tara didn’t know about the person he was with at the time. They both even stated that when Tara found out, she cut him off completely. He left his fiancé and began to pursue her honestly and they got together a year or so after that. The difference is Amina knew about Tara. She was introduced to them both as a couple and she would be at events singing, while Tara was there with Peter. It’s not the same. Tara chose to leave Peter when she found out. Amina chose to pursue him, knowing that he already was with someone else.

She did cut the relationship to coparenting once she found out. Peter knew that he could find ways to rope her back in with the kids and he did that. It was shown on the show and eventually she had to find a different system to keep him out of her house. It’s also weird that after she got pregnant the third time and had their child, he kept trying to get back with her and she told him she didn’t want to deal with that anymore. Yet, he still told his wife that he was in love with Tara.
