@PhatTenor Gerry started out on tenor sax, then switched to baritone, just about the time he started arranging for Duke Ellington, and met Harry Carney. Gerry learned a lot from Harry, and sounds a lot like him. Both had smooth, flawless phrasing. Gerry is my favorite musician and I saw him twice in person. The baritone is my favorite instrument and I had Harry Carney in my taxi cab back in the 60s. I took him from Beverly Hills to LAX. He told me Gerry Mulligan stories all the way.
Great tune. Get the album, "Idol Gossip," on which it appears. Also on that album is the #1 most beautiful jazz recording ever made, "Waltzing Matilda."
