  • It's been 2 months since our first Alpha tests and we have already made the game 10x better!! It's coming along really well, hopefully it doesn't explode when more people get to play it! 5 months to release, start the countdown, Wishlist now!!

    had a run at the demo and it was purely fun. love to know where i can get a talking (title screen) avatar. I had fun talking to a chat with that character. Look forward to seeing more.

      Heyo! That's a big question so it depends what part you are asking for.
      There are many many tutorials out there that go over setting up player hosted servers, its pretty simple and 99% of the time its just by using a "create session" node in blueprints (there are many plugins or online subsystems but they all usually work the same), that you can call when a player clicks a host button. That's pretty much it, all the heavy lifting is done by the online subsystem.
      As for player movement we use the GMC marketplace asset which allows us custom movement with network prediction in blueprints. This is a big thing to consider based on your experience, willingness to work off-track (without UA-cam tutorials for everything) and the type of game you make.
      Everything else.. we just learn along the way, fail until we succeed then do what works!

    Why not add dedicated server support for people that would want it though? Are there any issues with the general movement component? Implementation of server browser or such?

      Couldn't tell ya! As our first game we have been completely focused on actually getting a base game done, switching our focus to adding dedicated server support is throwing more months onto the already extended development. We have discussed it, but if we do its definitely a post-release thing
