This SUBOTECH BG1515 PATHFINDER 1/12 scale electric RTR Rock Climber / Rock Bouncer with 2.4GHz 2CH proportional remote was sent to me for a review by rcmoment.com
Thank you very much!
In this video:
Unboxing
Review
Teardown, so we can see the metal gears
Slipper clutch improvement, using a ball bearing and disc springs
Short test drive
An off road test drive will follow in part 2 of this video. So stay tuned!
There may also follow a brushless conversion video later on.
Features:
4WD, locked differentials
390 size motor
2.4GHz 2CH proportional
2 switchable speed limits (bind button)
Long stroke shocks
Ball bearings
1500mAh 7.4V (2S) LiPo
500mA USB balance charger included.
What I like on this car:
Very grippy, soft off road tires
Very good steering with no dead zone around the center position and very little backlash
Brass pinion, steel bevel gears
All gears are covered
Steel driveshafts & CVD
Extreme articulation, perfect for extreme off-roading
The steering trim pots (dual rate & center position)
Proper self tapping screws are used for plastic parts
Spare shock included
Long run time of about 20 minutes / 1km
Spare parts are available here: www.wl-toys.com...
What not:
The packaging says hydraulic shock absorbers, but unfortunately only the spare shock has a top seal and oil inside. This is a no go!
The packaging also says fast and slow gear mode. But there is no 2 speed transmission. Just two motor RPM limits (bind button)
Cheap plastics
There is a slipper clutch, but it does not work in stock condition The fix is easy, though.
Very slow, but OK for a crawler.
All in all it’s a good and big (for 1/12 scale) rock bouncer. If you want to buy one, you can find the link and discount coupons above.

Very good tear down video, thanks for doing this, i would order one but it will arrive in UK smashed
Too bad they lied about the shocks! I guess adding the ONE oil filled makes their statement true? It DID have a oil filled shock. OR they just sent you a defective item? This had all the features I was looking for as my first crawler. I have been trying to obtain the HBX 12889 Thruster but finding that either too highly priced now (almost doubled) or sellers showing in stock but after I purchase, replying "discontinued" or "out of stock"
GREAT review and thanks! Guess I will stay away from this one.
This thing is huge for a 1/12 RC! And its off-road capabilities are enormous. But is it any good?
If you like this video, give us a thumbs up and subscribe. This helps a lot. Thanks, guys!
I was looking at this for a cheap crawler. Thanks for doing this video. There aren’t very many videos on it.
You're welcome. Yes, there are almost no videos, except for commercials from Chinese online shops. I hope it is useful.
Now that you have had it for a year, How's it doing? I just purchased one this week.
It is a nice crawler, but to be honest: I did not use it that often, because I just have too many RC cars ;-)
@@TheDIYGuy999 thanks. I am removing all the upper parts to make a "crawl space" vehicle. I'm going to use 2 gopros. Do you have any light weight camera recommendatons?
Hi, nice video!
I'm currently looking for a crawler around this price class to modify with fpv and do some off road crawling.
I'm currently doubting between this and the MN-99. What would you say?
This one is more like "hobby grade", but I still prefer the MN D90 with upgraded drive train and WPL 2 speed shifting transmission.
@@TheDIYGuy999 thanks for the response! I think I will go for that then with the upgrades. And there are more spare parts available for the mn series
Good review A question. What rc car would you recommend to crawl with a price below $ 100? Could it be this BG1515?
Thanks. I think it's not bad for the price. Insane off road capabilities, but spare parts are not easy to find.

I've seen a video or 2 about this model and it seems to be a pretty good crawler and better than everyone's expectations. Nice overview video looking forward to seeing more from this RC :-)
Thanks, Mike. A crawling video will follow soon.
How long wheelbase this RC?
Sorry, I can't tell, because I gave it away
Wltoys 10428 or subotech BG1515? thanks
Depends on what you are looking for:
10428, if it should be fast but still good off road
BG1515, if you want a slow crawler with insane off road capabilities
Would a 540 motor be able to fit into it? Thanks
No, there is not enough room. Better use a brushless motor with the same dimensions as the original motor.
