Without looking at the captions, I could spot the Concept, your tried and trusted. All 3 sounded great. I think it’s tough to hear the subtle differences in that setting.
Beautiful playing. Love hearing this classical music. Opens a whole new world.
Glad you enjoy it!
Many thanks for an excellent balanced review. I play a Concept as well. It was a revelation from the first blow! I’m a clarinetist who doubles on alto sax, and I have loved the sound of the clarinet for as long as I can remember. The Concept lends a similar clarity to the alto’s tone but without losing the beautiful sax warmth. I also find it very flexible - I know what you mean about being able to push it. In fact, sometimes I leave it on and use it for teaching jazz instead of my Meyer (with apologies to jazz purists!!)
very high angle on the neck?
Hard to hear much difference at all to be honest, but the Concept edges it for me- the richest and most lyrical sound of the three. You sound amazing on all 3.
Which of the three has more projection?
I like the Vandoran overall, but the Bakun seemed to have a brighter sound....
Selmer Concept is the richest
I assume your Concept is a stock model, not refaced at all?
Yes, this is a stock Concept that hasn't been adjusted at all. Unlike some older Selmer models they're incredibly consistent. I've got a couple of Concepts and I struggle to tell them apart!
@@alastairpenman I've been playing an original Selmer Larry Teal, which my teacher had adjusted, for the past 50 years. Not sure if these things wear out, although some young pros tell me that they do. Always been reluctant to change.
the best mouthpiece is selmer, the best reed is vandoren the best alto saxophone is rampone
Any chance you would know what mouthpiece came with my Selmer USA AS110 all those years ago?
I know it wasn’t a C*… that’s about it. Sax was bought new so presumably it shipped out with the same one as every other AS110.
The horn has been gone over a decade, been wanting to grab a new one and get back to playing.
I have a Selmer USA I do not use.
