As a runner, I definitely find that my hips feel worse when I do a lot of sitting. I have an exercise ball and a standing desk to keep my posture different while working throughout the day. 🤷🏻♀️
Cash could not be more precious, he’s giving me serious puppy fever 🥺 also, I loved your food chat! I totally agree with everything you said. I always find that when I stop thinking of foods as either “good” or “bad” I feel so much better, physically and mentally!
I’m a runner and started doing pure barre a couple times a week and it’s really helped! It’s a great workout for runners since it’s very low impact but really focuses on core and hip strength
i always do one of sydney’s 20 minute stretch videos after every single run!! stretching and foam rolling really helps too and not sitting all day/intentionally moving around a lot. my PT told me that if you’re increasing your mileage, you also have to increase the amount you stretch, warm up, and warm down too so your body can adjust!!
I actually had the same “revelation” about food the other day. I always used to punish myself for eating junk food and since I let my body just have it, I feel more eased about it. Loved the vlog!
I could relate when you were talking about cracking hips & that slight discomfort when compressing the joints. I am 35, but had what you have in my 20s and believe it or not taking powdered collagen in my teas and smoothies has helped immensely. I started on it for beauty reasons. I’m in a couple skincare Facebook groups and I kid you not, whenever the topic of collagen powder comes up and women are discussing whether or not they see improvements in their skin, 9 times out of 10 this is the comment I see” not sure if it’s helping my skin, but my joints feel better/aren’t cracking” and this is true for me too. So collagen is staying whether or not it improves skin. But research it to get the proper kind. Hydrolyzed collagen peptides from pasture raised cattle or marine collagen
Thank you for the chat on eating all foods in moderation :) working on recovery from a restrictive ed and wish more people had this mindset! It's so much better for you both mentally and physically to focus on balance
Look up hip strengthening exercises and do them a few times throughout the day. Whenever I’ve had hip issues with running I’ve noticed it’s a lack of butt, back or core strength! Take care of it as soon as you can so it doesn’t turn into a IT band issue.
I rarely comment but I love your videos and your podcast. I’ve been following you since you were working your 9-5 in NYC. Your genuine personality and happiness radiates through your content. ❤️ I love seeing Cash and your journey with him. It seems like you have a natural motherly instinct. Can’t wait to see where life continues to take you Michelle!
These long week in my life vlogs are my favourite. We always appreciate your authenticity, intentionality, joy, and effort behind all of your content, Michelle ❤️
I’ve been so busy this past month with work and school and I’m on vacation the next few days, so catching up your recent videos and podcasts!💛💛 your videos are so peaceful and joyful!
I’ve been going to a chiropractor once a month for my entire life (as a preventative measure) and I love it! I think chiropractors can be great, but I also think all the popping and cracking you see on social media doesn’t accurately represent what chiropractors do, but no harm in trying it out!
@@michellereedg Also, if you can find a chiropractor who does Tonal Integrative Correction, go with them! This method is so gentle, and avoids cracking and popping. I can't recommend it enough!
@@rhemahill7947 yay!!! The best 🙂 I was rear ended recently and was in to my chiropractor the next day. He was so gentle and it helped my recovery so much!
Yes to not restricting foods! I think thinking about food as neither good or bad is so important to unlearn that we are somehow “messing up” by enjoying life and good food.
Michelle, you are doing such a great job training Cash! He's doing so well! Just seeing him progress through the training sessions has been a joy for me! I find myself clapping for him when he does each one well!
Another great trick we taught our dog was “paws up” and “off” it’s great for getting on beds the couch and the car and then also getting off all those things! We have a golden doodle so she is very agile and we got her to do some jumping over things and it’s so fun and cute!
Whenever my hips hurt I always take a break from running and do more strength for a week and it goes away :) it sucks though because I love running haha
I’m an emt and the chiropractor has been the best thing for me. The adjustments help with stretching and with tight knots! Stretching also is beneficial
Didn’t think I could enjoy your videos any more but then there’s Cash! Truly though your videos brighten my day so much, I was having a rough morning today and I know your video will make me feel better :)
make sure you’re doing the right stretches before and after! sometimes stretching beforehand can lead to injury :/ also since you’re working on your posture currently, the lower back pain might resolve itself as you strengthen those muscles. and when you’re working on core, make sure u maintain a neutral position with respect to ur lower back, that’s a HUGE source of strain and pain for a lot of people :)
I have a service dog, speak is often used as an energy release too so if he's doing it it's likely that it's to initiate play with you. Hope that helps.
chiropractic care 100%! and don’t wait. I had hip pain and it was my SI joint moving out of place. I waited to long and couldn’t walk for a week. I was getting adjustments daily and after two weeks off of running and getting adjusted I finally was able to run again. Now I go every 2 weeks and get adjusted 😊
I’m a distance runner and have been for years and still get hip pain but one tip for treadmill running is to put it on an incline of one! Treadmills are slightly angled down and it’s not good for your joints but an incline of one will correct that a bit!!
I go to a chiro too and she does amazing work for my neck and shoulders! The one thing she always tells me for areas of pain is that we have to strengthen them more! So just work on your hip strength and upper back strength. Pilates is AMAZING for this! Small subtle movements with your own body weight will do the trick.
If you run a lot, make sure that you’re doing lateral exercises like side lunges so that you’re balancing front-and-back movements with side-to-side movements. I made the same mistake when I trained for a half marathon and my hips were destroyed!
I'm not sure if you've ordered one, but I have a seat belt for my dog for the car. I highly recommend you get one for safety! They just go in the normal seat belt things and attach to the dog's harness.
I know when I was on track in high school we did a lot of hip swings (the best way I can describe them). Maybe try and google that for a better explanation haha! I also suffer from a lot of hip pain from running :(
I've had hip and back problems for a long time and instead of a chiropractor I would recommend a physiotherapist! They can do work similar to a chiropractor but will focus on assessing your body and building strength to help your body!
I don’t run a ton, about 15 miles per week, but I’ve struggled with hip issues and a stress reaction in my tibia from when I used to run more. My physical therapist said the most important thing I can do is stretch and do hip and glute strengthening exercises. He told me that sometimes when I’m on a run I should check in with myself and analyze my gait (am I running heavier on one leg than the other? Am I pushing off equally on both feet? Etc.). Then try to self-correct and work it into your muscle memory! Issues like these can contribute to hip and leg pain related to running!
I’m a runner with frequent hip pain and I cannot recommend going to Airrosti enough. It’s a kind of physical therapy and it’s only in Texas!!! It fixed my injuries that I had been feeling for weeks in just a couple of days.
Ive been a xc runner for 5 years and have had lots of small injuries (shin splints/ overextended muscles). mainly I just follow RICE: rest, ice, compress, and elevate. try to not overwork and if ur in a lot of pain I would just not run too much. wait it out and take care of urself as much as possible!
Another distance runner here! I totally agree with everything everyone else is saying but I also would add that it might help to get some new shoes! As my running shoes wear down I notice that it amplifies any pains that I'm having, whether it be my hips, calves, knees etc. I run about 30-40 miles a week and replace my shoes every 4ish months. I also would recommend getting into the routine of doing a run-specific warmup (you can find these on runnersworld.com) to get the right muscles activated and then save any stretching for after :)
Chiropractors are okay for short-term benefit. They crack your back, but it's short-lived relief. If your hips are sore, it might be the way you're standing. In the sports medicine office, I work in, we often will see hip bursitis as a result of standing on one leg or with your hip cocked to the side, so I'd recommend working on that first. I went many years ago when I had sciatica and it did REALLY help for that, but he was cracking my neck during the same appointments and I just really wasn't comfortable with that. I'd say that, overall, it's nice to get someone to crack your back in ways you can't normally (hence the sense of relief) but there's no real long-term benefit.
hip pain is pretty common for runners. specific stretches help but also my physical therapist prescribed strengthening my glutes and abs and that has helped me a lot. everyone is different though so going to PT or a chiro is probably your best bet 😊
If you ever want a SUPER easy stuffed pepper recipe.. get the frozen turkey bolognese from Trader Joe’s and the frozen white rice, mix together, stuff the pepper, bake, and done
For hip pain I learned with running in college that strengthening your hips with hip exercises will help a lot! There are some exercises you find online 😊
If you're having hip pain from running it could be that your shoes are not giving the support and alignment you need. You can go to a running shoe store and get an assessment to help you find out what kind of shoes you need.
For running, find some IT band stretches (or foam roll)/work on doing glute exercises. Your IT bands can cause problems for runners, especially women, whose hips are built differently from mens’. I have dealt with a lot of issues with this too but these have helped me! :)
Your vlogs always makes me feel so nice and cozy! Love it! Also can I ask where your grey sweater with the embroidered flowers is from? It's so cute and looks really comfy!

Married Michelle is my favorite Michelle. You can truly see how happy she is! I love it.
I am a physical therapy student, so I know I am biased, but go to a PT!
