Considering it's their debut track, it makes sense to focus on two girls that DOMINATED Produce 101 popularity/beauty/cute polls. Doyeon was probably top 3 for looks, based on popular opinion, with Chaeyeon and Kyulkyung. And Yoojung was probably #1 for cuteness, and always top 3 for popularity. I would've been surprised if they had less attention for the debut track.. as they're the "bait" to get fans of the group. Plenty of time to focus on the other girls later on.
I'm not gonna say I'm surprised. For all the groups the IOI members have debuted, its kinda smart from the company stand point to focus on the IOI members in order to get the hype up. The only other groups I'd say didn't do that are Pristin and Cosmic Girls (until Secret) I bet the other 5 members will get their chance to shine in comebacks
Andre Drew well 7/10 Pristin members were on pd101 and Shannon/Seungyeon was on girl spirit, so they got a bit more exposure. Xiyeon and Rena gained some popularity predebut from bein on the show besides Nayoung and Kyulkyung

DIA is doing bad too, Wjsn is doing good bc they were already popular before the addition of Yeonjung, mainly thanks to Xiao and Bona, Pledis is the only agency that did a great job promoting all the girls, they did show after show in pre debut era, till ppl liked them all. I hope Weki Meki doesn't walk the same path as DIA or Gugudan, where not even Sejeong or Chaeyeon can help them.
Andre Drew Pristin and Wjsn are the most popular groups out of all the IOI members because they already had exposure before their debut. Plus, their companies are bigger and have more known groups.

But DIA was going to be the sisters of T-ara and they are doing bad, is not a small thing to have T-ara in your company, and Jelly Fish is almost as small as Pledis, Pledis was almost over until Seventeen, the only "big" company here is Starship, that tbh if you aren't from the big 3, Starship, Cube, fnc, those "big" but not "too" big companies can't guarantee anything, is always up to the group, and how good the company wants to promote them.
Meri Martinez T-ara isn't exactly liked in Korea but that's not the point. None of those companies are big, minus Cube. The Big 3 plus Cube are the only true big companies. Weki Meki's debut was weak, because all the other debuting groups have set standards so high that this doesn't really live up to it. The pressure nowadays for debuting idols is ridiculously high, because groups and soloists don't really go through the embarrassing debut phase.

Its a play on words, the title of the song is 'I don't like your girlfriend' so they changed girlfriend to "line distribution". Its not saying they hate the video, they're just saying the line distribution isn't the best
I really don't want this to sound like I'm pinning the two groups against each other, but what I really liked about pristin was that they didn't try to have all the attention on just the former ioi members, but with weme, it seems like the opposite..

I love both companies, and admit that BOTH companies have their pros and cons! back before pristin debuted, and were doing their dance covers, I noticed that non-ioi members still got lots of love and focus! Not to say that pledis didnt give the former ioi members attention, obviously.And yes, pristin DID do a lot pre-debut promotions, which of course helped a lot of the members gain recognition, I acknowledge that. Weme didn't do as much promotion comparably, but from what had been done, a lot of the attention had been on yoojung & doyeon. I still support both groups! And, this is just their debut, and I hope that they'll grow and the screen time & line distribution will only grow more fair♡

Yixingluv no you're exactly right but i think with fantagio/weki meki, the other members don't have as much exposure like doyoung or yojoung. Pledis/Pristin however had a bunch of girls go on Produce 101 so people knew more of them. Pls correct me if im wrong

Yixingluv i guess since its just their debut, they're trying to get their name out there. Thats probably why they gave lines to the more popular girls because people could recognize them better.
Bae Joohuyn Nayoung isn't the main rapper, Rena is. However it's not just about their positions in the group. Even screen time wise the other Pristin members get their time to shine. And in their mini album all the songs distributions are very different so someone is always getting a chance to standout. It helped that beyond Produce 101 the other Pristin members were putting out content without Pinky and Nayoung while in comparison, Fantagio did not do the same with the other girls of WeMe.
Out of all IOI groups, Pristin has definitely done the best in terms of making it feel like a group as opposed to extra members compensating for others.

i haven’t commented but i feel the need to say that this is their DEBUT. This isn’t an ordinary comeback. This isn’t a huge company that has all the money in the world for promotions. They displayed the members with the most fan base to try and get as many people interested in Weki Meki as physically possible, because this is their DEBUT. They haven’t gotten anywhere yet, they just started existing a few months ago. I personally think it’s a smart move to use the members who attract more people in the beginning and then even out everything with comebacks because they have to get as many peoples attention as physically possible in the beginning. If they can’t get a large enough audience they will flop and disband so using their popular members is smart in my opinion.

I understand what you mean. I was quite mad at the line distribution at first but now that I’ve seen you’re comment, I’m actually not that mad anymore. It is very smart to use your most popular members to attract people during debut. I agree but I also disagree. A debut for a group has to introduce all members. Show people what each member is good at. If one member isn’t that good at singing but they’re really good at dancing then it’s fine if they don’t really get as much lines as the others. But at least let them dance in the middle for a bit. The centre distribution isn’t that good either. A group gets popular because of the members AND their songs. Just like BTS, Red Velvet, CLC, MOMOLAND and etc. They got popular because of their amazing and catchy songs. But they also got popular because of their personalities!Now that Weki Meki have a comeback song “La La La” I thought it would be better but it’s not. Lucy and Lua still don’t have that many lines. Ame Music It's reality. As time passes, the debuts just get better and better. Groups now don't even go through the embarrassing debut phase anymore, a lot are monster rookies with killer debuts. The standards and expectations are much higher for the 3rd generation, which is why many older idols said they feel bad for newer idols. It's true, but harsh.

Meh it's not stupid it was a smart decision in marketing to have the members who were part of IOI (suyeon is an exception because ya know she's main vocal, and I think she has potential to be one of the more popular members of weme) but don't worry next come backs when everything is already heated and hyped up the other members would get recognition, but for now the company needs to focus on promoting them to be famous as a group. Having former IOI members in a group is a huge boost, IOI was NGG. Plus that's the whole purpose of pd101 lmao, to do promoting before the actual debut.

I totally understand how most of the people complain about this line distribution and I think it could have been a lot better too. But I also understand for Fantagio focusing at the beginning on the two former ioi members is a chance for weme to get more recognition. In my opinion the other members will get their time to shine in the next comebacks, and this is a just a "beginning fase". And maybe in the future we'll se even different things, with songs that focus on vocalists and there aren't many speaking (?) lines. Anyway I think the song is great! I can't say how happy I am to finally see a gg with this kind of concept, which is like girl crush, in between of badass concepts and cute concepts, it's really great. WeMe fighting!

Here's something I just noticed. When the line distribution is somewhat not that good Korean fans support it to much (this made it to no.5 on M countdown), and international fans keep complaining about the bad distribution. When the line distribution is somehow "fair" Kfans somewhat ignore it (they dont give huge effort to support) but international fans keep praising, and supporting the group for that. Why can't we just accept the fact that when a song has an "unfair" distribution it becomes a huge hit Korea (I mean really huge hit).

How would more members make it better? Lmao it would probably make it worse cuz now you have to split lines between 30 people. A 3-4 minute song, split equally, would give each member 6-8 SECONDS of lines at the most. Assuming it's split equally. But more likely, some people would literally get no lines lol

For a new girl group, popularity is extremely important. It's not like Fantagio has a ton of money they can just throw around. If it weren't for the popularity gained from Produce 101 (from the 4 members who competed), who knows where this debut would have gone? Giving Doyeon and Yoojung more exposure makes sense because they have HUGE fanbases (given that IOI ranked in the top 10 girl groups based on fanbase size). WJSN did the same for yeonjung when she first joined, and honestly it did wonders to their popularity. The lines are starting to even out now for them, so why don't we just wait and see with Weki Meki? I'm sure it'll even out eventually as the group gains a more stable fanbase.
Yeonjung got more line can be understandable because her vocal is PURE GOLD, and the fact that most of WJSN's songs are in high key, if Yeonjung doesn't sing that much I won't think they'll be able to sing live. The same go with Gugudan, the line distribution is kinda fair except for Sally (which is a Chinese member and that's because of her poor Korean skill, not her vocal or popularity). But with DIA & Weki Meki, it's little over biased, srl throw a bunch of line into the popular members won't make the group famous, as you see what they receive for this song is not good. I mean Pristin debut with kinda fair line distribution for a 10-member-group, and despite the fact that the arranging is kinda messy, I see how each line fits the singer so well. Ok, Fantagio and MBK got their way, and I in somehow have known this gonna happen to Weki Meki base on how they promote Astro (aka Cha Eun Woo's group)

All these people getting pissed off that the line distribution isn't fair but the truth is a lot of groups don't have fair line distributions either. This is a debut and ofc Fantagio are going to give more lines to the popular members (to gain some attention) and to the more trusted members (don't want them to get out on stage and be too nervous to sing.)

With all the I.O.I girlies once they split,their individual/group image either shined or blended in with a group or they went solo.I feel like Doyeon and Yoojung yes they need to be recognized for their achievement of making top 11 but,I feel they were more shined and shown of then other members of Weme.I do not want to compare these hard working girls with other groups but they do still have time to grow and shape their image.While they will continue to have love and support I feel as if their should have been better distribution with the other girls.

damn the aesthetic. i do not see enough credit being given in the comments for the creator's beautiful graphic design skill which is showcased in this video!! i do not even know what part of youtube i am at, i was watching a video and this autoplayed and i must say the layout is pleasing and acutely satisfying to the most minute details... the gradients, the boldness of the white lining, the banner at the bottom right, the distinguishable colours which compliment each other layered on top of the dark pale green symmetrical ink blob protruding into the bottom of the screen... it's all fantastic. A+ - no, SSS+.
I didn't even know anyone's name besides Yoojung and Doyeon but this is helping me learn. I also think I am highkey crushing on Suyeon.
I won't say I'm not suprised about the line distribution but it's pretty understandable. They're still a rookie group and I believe (if I'm not wrong) this is their first mv and title song so it only make sense if they put yoojung and doyeon at the center, considering they're former member of ioi and they're trying to push their level of popularity by putting yoojung and doyeon at the center. Keeping the mind set that they're still a rookie group, let's think about it:
-Yoojung is main rapper, it would make sense if most of the rap lines goes to her
-Doyeon (for now) is center so being center, it would make sense if she got lots of lines and camio example: SinB, Naeyeon, etc.

What they should have done was let elly start out the song because she can sing and is as short as yoojung meaning she can slide from doyeons legs. When doyeon is singing and everyone else on floor, suyeon suppose to sing after her. They should give that part to rina. It wouldnt affect choreography either saince she was on the left of suyeon dancing to that part. Lastly, after the breakdown when yoojung leads them all in red outfits, that part can be given to elly since she once again is as short as yoojung and can lead group. This rlly need to be taken into consideration if fairness is wanted. Popularity woukd still be gained because doyeon is singing 2nd and they honestly just have to put yoojung and doyeon on thumbnail of vids. Not that hard to share lines and have equally line distribution
I swear this is the first time I see a rapper with so much lines. I'm not hating on yoojung, I've been stanning her since pd101 but I wish that Fantagio will do smth with the line distribution. *IT'S HORRIBLE*

I guess Fantagio did their job with Astro's distribution way too well, so they had to take a break from it and make a terrible distribution for Weki Meki.

From what I've seen with this line distribution, Weki Meki should have been made up of 4 members at most because that's all they really seemed to need to sing this song. That being said, I really really appreciate the fact that they didn't debut with a cute concept. I don't necessarily like this song or their album, but I will definitely check out their next comeback just for the simple fact that they didn't debut with a cute concept. Plus I really like Doyeon and Yoojung and really want to see them succeed. Good luck Weki Meki!

in my opinion, fantagio has been using popular members for a marketing strategy for example 5urprise, seo kang joon, astro , cha eunwoo, weki meki, doyeon and yoojung. We all know that is wrong but its obv not the members for fault not as if they wanted this. in my opinion because fantagio is a acting company they dont really understand the marketing strategy at all so they prioritize the popular members cause they dont really have that much experience in the music industry. Hopefully the company learn that putting popular members upfront is not the only way to get more attention. And it aint doyeon and yoojung's fault they get more lines so dont misunderstand.
So much hate, if you dont like it leave, so simple. The distribution isnt bad compared to most groups, also who knows? Fantagios strategy is good and might work. Also Dodaeng have most experience alongside Suyeon. All the members are gonna get to shine afterwards, but also the song is good, if you dont like it DONT HATE, just go and support your faves.
I understand why they are focusing mostly on Doyeon and Yoojung. They have the most experience with a group because of IOI, and Fantagio wants to build a hype for these girls, so it's vital to focus on the really popular ones. Right now, they are just starting out, and they want to get a big enough fan base to get a hype, so gaining Doyeon and Yoojung's fans will make the fandom bigger by loads. Later on, they should start giving more likes to the other members, but right now, giving likes to the popular ones for a hype and fanbase if the best decision they had.
Edit: I also wish that Doyeon and Yoojung should've just been a group with like 2-3 other people in it. Even Yoojung and Doyeon as a duet would've been fine.

Don't hate on the group, you guys. Sure the distribution sucks, but not all debut songs are going to be perfect. Let's wait until we get more songs from them, maybe they just wanted it to be Do/Yoo/Su-centric for this specific song. Maybe their next song will be centered around three of the other girls. We see stuff like this happen with TWICE, SNSD, BlackPink. "As If It's Your Last" from BP is heavily Rose/Jennie-centric; many of TWICE is Jihyo/Nayeon-centric; We know a lot of SNSD is Tae/Ti/Seo/Jess-centric. It's a style, not all songs are going to be equal amongst the members. This song is still really good, it's got good choreo and it shows that all the girls are bubbly. Nobody is lacking here. They're all also very young, I think some go as young as 14? Don't hate on the girls, okay? We have to give them a chance, so they can make more songs that are fair.
I get that it looks like the group is going off of Do/Yoo's fame from i.O.i, and maybe they are getting some fame from it, but I don't think it's intentional. I personally think it's because they're more experienced than the rest of the girls, so they're more comfortable getting in the center for the debut. The other girls might want to warm up more before they take the responsibility of being center. This group is good, don't let them down. Please.
I think it's a little bit unfair but I really love the song, and Lua is my bias. And one thing I think it's very interesting is that I'm Portuguese, and "Lua" means Moon and "Sei" means I know.

The whole song I only hear DoYeon and YooJung's voice. They divide the lyrics unevenly. That made the other members not show off their own vocals. It's not fair

I'll be honest. Yes, the producers are trying to get everyone on in the last part of the song, but where can I find Elly singing this live as proof of her having this part (plus, they all sound identical if not the same for this part)?
Love them and their concept just wish the line distribution would have been better but seeing as this is a debut the line distributions will probably start getting fairer and better for all the members as they release more songs and get bigger. I have hope :)

I understand that Fantagio is trying to spread WeMe's popularity in the debut. by giving former IOI members lines. But the other member's lines can be longer. Suyeon, Yoojung, and Doyeon's lines can be smaller but still go in the top 3.
I really hope their other songs have a better distribution. I love this song and I get that they were probably aiming to have IOI fans attracted because of Doyeon and Yoojung's high number of lines, but the other girls are great too and should be showcased just as much.
I don't mind the line distribution, since yoojung and doyeon have a lot more experience singing live and stuff it's good for them to get a lot of lines. it allows the other members to work on stability without struggling. plus most groups line distributions are like this, thy barely ever have perfect distributions

I get why they focused on Doyeon and Yoojung since they were in I.O.I and a lot of people would start watching because of them (and then end up falling for the group cuz they’re amazing) and Suyeon because she’s so the leader and otherwise a lot of people may have questioned why she was the leader (she also has strong vocals). Hopefully the line distribution is more fair next comeback, I really want to be able to see the others shine.
