Is it me or does this guy's opponent offer NO resistance to these moves. I study Wing Chun and this seems very scripted. Like the moves have been rehearsed. Not dissing but just an observation
Aikido training methodology are very scripted. For the first 10 years or so, we practice the same movements over and over again. This is largely for mutual safety, but also to get muscle memory of the basic forms. There is no competition in Aikido. After about 20 years, the movements begin to become natural and then we are able to move more freely. I've been told that it's at 30 years that the first major break is made, and our movements take on a new form, allowing greater levels of creativity.
The training partner is not offering resistance in this demonstration. We do have training where resistance is offered. But that is considered against the 'truth of the practice'. In each of the movements, there are principles which must be adhered to, and practiced in order to refine and perfect. It is towards those principles that we train.
