Hey Steininger, can we still buy the Hannibal T-shirts? I was an XL when I bought it, but now I'm a Small, no kidding. I'd love to wear it without putting on weight again.
You lighted up a bunch of synapses when you mentioned Robert Lepage, he made my favorite movie; Possible Worlds (2000). I'm sick of the vast majority of Western cinema, but this one still holds up, the film is slow but gorgeous, extremely philosophical, and that final scene always gets me. Highly recommended, I will definitely try to get my hands on his version of Wagner!
If The Ring Cycle is too much for you, but you still want to try something excellent from the opera world, try The Magic Flute by Mozart. It's short (for an opera), there are spoken parts, the themes are elevated, and the music is absolutely beautiful.
Reading the Saga of the Volsungs is also pretty great for Tolkien nerds. I would also throw the Kalevala into that as well. Both were direct inspirations for Middle Earth.
Very cool. I’ve been a fan of P. Craig Russell from his work on Hellboy, from the more recent stuff to way back to the older Weird Tales Hellboy story he did around 20 years ago. I’m really interested in the Dagon video you did too- thanks for the sharing all of this!
Hate to say it, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's nowhere as good as Peter Jackson's, but when I just suspend disbelief and take it as a "fanfiction D&D setting inspired by Middle-Earth" I could appreciate it as a nice little generic, casual story that's easy to consoom. Tolkien always reads as a melodic Beowulf saga, masterfully written. and this is a cheap watered down version designed as an homage to it. That's about the most flattering I can say.
It's a multi million dollar project from a mega Corp, of course it will have a certain level of quality. However I can tell from the ads and trailers that the story and the acting is juvenile and pedantic. Amazon tried to make Tolkien for the woke Gen Z crowd. And because most of that crowd are vapid idiots it's almost impossible to make anything of value or worth when working towards such a goal.
I'm embarrassed to admit but I've lost track of your channel and work as I've fallen away from YT. I suppose the RoP is pretty big in the algorithm because suddenly I actually recieved a notification from your channel. Did you ever do any other children's books about Norse Gods? I know you had a collaboration with Thomas Rowsell, which I own, but I really want more. I'm trying to introduce our "mythology" and our ancestor's beliefs to my young sons. Most of the books I've found approach the subject as if they're speaking of fantasy. Thanks!
own the P. Craig Russell Ring comic AND the DC one with art by Gil Kane. no interest in ROP. would rather read books. did like live action trilogy of LOTR. i do like comics tho. sorry. Superman my fav.
In my family we are just reading The Hobbit and because I have a 7yo I'm reading him The Chronicles of Prydain. Lloyd Alexander's trilogy is actually a really great introduction to the type of fantasy in LoTR if you have young kids that have trouble sitting through Tolkien.
Oh no Chris found out about dem rangs of power Tell me who the dirty dog that informed you of it was so I can flog them for ruining your blissful ignorance!

Congrats!! Keep working, and btw I'm being genuine.
Just dropped two sizes as well, nothing like it, congrats. Just watch out or it’ll come back.

@@travv88 I used to see a profile on a livestream years ago, "styxrectumjammer666".
No matter how many times I saw it it always made me laugh.

I'm reading Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott, it's fantastic

Yes, for sure. And if you can handle the Swedish signing, Ingmar Bergman's Magic Flute is pretty fun.
@@Steininger_Art Yeah, that one's fun!
Thanks for this. Really enjoyed it. I liked your four word review: “I had no hope.”
Nice to see you so chirpy ;)
Yeah, I would rather watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy

I’ve been here the whole time man!

Yes, really, really expensive fan fiction. If they called it Super Fantasy Story 5000 - it would be totally fine, and probably received MUCH better.

but you watched it.
Yo. What's that 1M views video you're talkin'about ?
I agree 100%. I got through 4 and a half episodes then lost interest. It was cringeworthy. I found your channel through the 'Dagon' video.

Nope, because of Hannibal. Started with the last script yet?
