My father introduced me to these two artists back when I was in high school, and I've still not heard a better magical combination. This, and Up a Lazy River, show just how incredible the talent was when these two got together. Even decades later, they are incomparable.
I won't claim to know a lot of bassists. Timothy Schmitt, Paul McCartney and Jaco Pastorius are the only three I can think of off the top of my head ... but Brian gets it done, don't he? Thanks for commenting!
This was the second encore of a concert originally recorded on LaserDisc of an in-concert performance of Claude Bolling's Concerto for Classic Guitar and Jazz Piano. To my knowledge, there hasn't been any further release of that concert on any other medium ... which is a damned shame, IMHO. You might enjoy the first encore, which is George Shearing playing (and SINGING!) "Have You Met Miss Jones." I've listened to it hundreds of times and never once tired of it: ua-cam.com/video/sPQdWE1TJXE/v-deo.html
There's an album with George Shearing with Brian torff on base and he's speaking live in between each song high and inside is one of them and this couldn't be the real thing is also on that same album which I believe is live
@@arunachavakillion292 I believe around 1981 because I saw them perform this song live in central Wisconsin that year when they were touring. I was 16 at the time. My dad was a music teacher and took us kids to see Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, Chuck Mangione, etc.
exactly! my dad burned that live album for me where he says that, but it was stolen along with my car. my dad has since passed away and I'm trying to find the album so I can make another copy. Anyone know which album this was on with George chatting between songs?

They are, indeed! Thanks for stopping by.
One of the great bassist of our time .......
Fantastic! Thank you for posting this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Torff is a great player and composer.
He sure had fun here, I'd say - both of them did! Thanks for your comment.

Does anyone know which album this song and others like it with both artists live in concert?
