Cool video! I want to do a GFS build at some point. The whole Slick line is killer for the money. I've ordered from GFS a bunch of times and always been happy.
That relic process looks like it was done by someone who has professionally relic’d to an extent and may have cost just as much as the body or more to do. If he actually did it I would love to see a video too!
I think the best and hardest part is the body. How to sand, paint, and relic seems like what would take a while and most of us don't have the ability to do that. Maybe Guitar Fetish could sell different levels of relic bodies.
I've just found you guys, and ordered and SBS guitar to check out your stuff, but now, I'm getting interested in doing some art builds, customs, and replica stuff. Do you offer your neck with reversed headstocks? Will you be selling the SBS line in parts as bodies and necks? I'd Love to be able to get those and do up a bunch of YT clips here showing my builds.
@GuitarFetishTV -- I'd love to see/hear a demo of your acoustic guitars and onboard preamps when you get a chance! I'm very intrigued by the systems that let you blend mic with piezo onboard the guitar, but want to hear how they sound through a PA!
Wow. Those really sound great. When people,e tell me about whatever new flavor of custom guitar trick they spent 10x more on, I like to remind them: “do you know what model of Strat Jimi Hendrix played? The only one Fender made” It’s not the gear, it’s the talent.
If you've ever seen pics of some of his guitars, including the Woodstock one, the neck pockets were sloppy as hell and the build quality on CBS Fenders was suspect. Also, Jimi was playing on 7.25" radius necks and you can hear him choking notes when he bends them. But nobody is taking him off the top of the mountain because he played flawed guitars. He could make anything sound incredible.
I've bought several parts and xaviere guitar from guitar fetish and have been very happy with everything. I would love to see the relic process also more custom builds. How about a build installing a double locking trem on a strat guitar????
I tried Slick 65’s, GFS “Jimi” RS’s, GFS lipstick’s and GFS gold foil’s in my 62’ slab neck super parts Strat. The slicks were on a level above the rest. I found some Duncan SD288(?) pickups that rate at a vintage output 5.6, 5.8, 6.0 so I’ll give them a whirl. All I’m looking for is Hendrix/SRV tones with Mark Knoffler blending capability’s that are instantly identifiable no matter what I play. Is that too much to ask?
Still waiting on the in depth build video been wanting to do something like this for a while with gfs stuff but would like to see the relic and build process first
Definitely like to see a more in-depth build on something like this.
I'm glade to see David Spade has finally found some work :)
I thought it was the Warmoth guys brother.

Hello , i love this project and i want to see the complete process for the relic and the assembling !
I would have liked to have seen the relicing process.

I really wanted to see the refinish and relic part of the Video. Sure there a lots of them out here but most of the suck. lol many thanks!
Please do more in-depth builds and tutorials! I love stuff like this!
Gorgeous guitar! Would love to see how you went about refinishing and then relicing it. It looks pretty authentic! That neck is grogeous.

Great demo and some good soulful playing
Great Sounding ! Kool !
I would love to see a mustang or Jaguar style body come in
Very nice man...👍✌️
Pretty awesome end result, I was thinking of doing something similar but with a telecaster. GFS pickups are by far the best bang for your buck!!

@autodidacticprofessor869 just like Coltrane and Moon, you know 2 notes in that it's Jimi. He sounds like no one else.
Such a beautiful guitar
thanks dude, you just found the p/ups for my build

Looks great - sounds really bright & spikey. Is that how it was to play, or is that just down to the recording?
Your Slick is SICK! \m/
Can you do one with the paisley body? I’ve been wanting to build one like that but I’ve been kinda skeptical
I want that shirt!
Ahh yess. The Pre worn/ripped jeans in guitar form.
Must be nice to "poke around" the factory buyout section and get dibs on the good stuff...
nice!
and who made the neck? it wasent yah! based on my ex,
Please, sir, may I have some more? 🥺
No way he got that neck in the factory buyout section
Necks like that usually don't last very long before someone snatches it up, but you'd be surprised by what comes through that section.
