  • Hi everyone! Today I’m using silicone pyramid for the first time. I wanted to put that here since I have gotten so many comments on this video asking about the way I did these. I would not recommend using as much ink as I did. Also I do realize I was calling some of the molds by the wrong name lol. This was purely experimental on my part. I have made a few updated videos if you are interested in them, they are much cleaner pyramids. Thank you all for your tips I do appreciate it all. I will try to answer any questions you have.

    Another recommendation...when you pour into a pointy mold of any type, pour a small amount and then use a toothpick/cocktail stick and push resin down into the point. You will get a gorgeous point every time. 💜

      @@LilmizzMarie I am so looking forward to seeing your new video. I've been working with resin for quite a while and I'm loving the fact that more companies are involved in resin production, it has brought the price down on quality resins. Have fun, I can't wait to see your next video. One day I will learn how to make a good one, I'm practicing now.

      Im still learning as well, i had my first kid last year so it has been a slow process for me lol :) One of my goals this year is to better my equipments and setup! I feel the same when i first started i had no idea what i was doing i had never even seen a video and the only resin i knew of was art resin which is pretty expensive. I'm happy there are so many new brands and people working with it! id love to see some videos when you do start.

    I have found that too much colorant can stop my resin from setting. Also, acrylic doesn't work with UV resin, although it's great with the kind you mix 2 parts. Also I notice two of them have an incomplete apex. I found that if you push the resin down into the tip of the pryamid with a toothpick, it will come out perfect.

    • @LilmizzMarie
      @LilmizzMarie  5 років тому

      Virginia Bradley that’s good to know about UV resin. Yes I have found this to with Alcohol Inks if use use a very small amount it’s not so bad and you can add another layer without any to help but I think no more inks i. Molds for me I’m ready to try some new tricks!

    I have been working with smaller moulds for a while, yesterday I decided to use pyramid moulds. Now however, I cannot get them out of the mould at all. It is as though they are cemented to the sides. I see me having to ruin these moulds by cutting them 😓😓😓

    • @LilmizzMarie
      @LilmizzMarie  5 років тому +2

      Elaine Murphy I have found that it really depends on the mold and how you use it. I’ve ruined a lot of coaster molds. These pyramids are amazing! Thick silicone that never sticks.
      I got them on amazon for pretty cheap whole set under $15 the company it called let’s Resin.

      MeTa Kembar unfortunately if your resin hasn’t cured in 48hrs then there is not much you can do. Some say you can stick it in the freezer. I have lost a few of these mold by not mixing properly. A coaster mold that did did not harden so I scraped it out and cleaned it with 91% alcohol.

      If it’s just the ink on top, I’ve wiped it with a baby wipe before and then done a clear coat of resin on top which has saved it.

  • @deborahevans1063
    @deborahevans1063 4 роки тому

    It is recommended by most epoxy resin manufacturers that you should not use more than 6% of ink in any resin piece because it changes the composition of the resin...this is the reason why your resin feels rubbery.

    • @LilmizzMarie
      @LilmizzMarie  4 роки тому +1

      Deborah Evans yes I said that at the end, I realized I used to much pigments. that is why I mentioned that I don’t really recommend filling a whole mold then inks I would do it In small layers or just color the resin in with ink before pouring. This was my first time using pyramid or sphere molds. I’m actually working on on a updated video now with what I’ve learned working with these.

    • @LilmizzMarie
      @LilmizzMarie  4 роки тому

      Cathy holmes I have had this discussion with so many people. The molds I purchased had different points some were forked some were flat it was a unique set the little ocean pyramid looks like a trident on top. I’m going to be purchasing some new molds to see if I can get it right. I have heard that when you pour the first layer you can use a toothpick to push the resin done into the point and use hot water to release it without harming the tip, if you are having trouble.
      This was the first time I had ever used a silicone mold so this video was purely experimental like I said at the beginning.

      Kaden Yorgason Progress - NO WAR it all depends on you and how you plan on selling them. I’ve had people offer to have them in their shops and they had real crystals and copper in them. I sell them at craft fairs and online and I find the sell pretty well and people love them. Especially ocean or crystals.

    • @blazing_pyro67
      @blazing_pyro67 4 роки тому

      @@LilmizzMarie I have a few ideas that throw a whole other spin on them, I do still plan to add copper and crystals in them, but I plan to also have people tell me a theme they want in their pyramid and do little trinkets in the pyramid, so for example my 1st one I am going to do when all my supplies get here is a steampunk theme, I've been gathering all sorts of gears, and little trinkets that relate to the steampunk theme and I am going to be adding them throughout the pyramid and then of course the top will have a quartz crystal and a clockwise copper wire, and 24k gold flakes on the bottom. I am excited and when I do this I plan to be extremely careful and patient so I don't mess anything up. But I was thinking really you could do anything you wanted in them, my friend who is a mega stoner asked me to find anything weed related and do one for him and he would pay anything I wanted for it. Someones asked for an Alice and Wonderland themed pyramid, I have family that want Christmas and Halloween themes, Nightmare Before Christmas, any theme anyone wants we can do, it just might take us awhile to find all the things we want to use in them, we have 4 amazing crafts stores near us and whatever we can't find there we will just buy online. I have a feeling I will spend a lot of money making these but once we get started and sell a few we can make good money doing it. I would like to make real Oregonian pyramids as well, but I want to learn everything I can about how to make them right so they actually do what they should do and I know its going to take me a long time to where I feel comfortable enough wit my knowledge and skills and have the money to make them so for now this is how I plan to learn to make these pyramids well I study the art of making real Oregonian Pyramids.

    • @LilmizzMarie
      @LilmizzMarie  4 роки тому +1

      that sounds amazing! I would love to see all those pyramids. I think specialized pyramids like that would sell well. Especially if you take good photos to advertise them to others. Like you said being patient is really the biggest thing with that type of resin work! I'm going to start doing some custom coasters in different themes. i just got all my molds this week, ill be showing them all in the next few videos and trying some cool ideas out.

    If your resin isn't hard, it isn't cured. Resin is equal parts and when you add too much ink you change the chemistry, you shouldn't be adding more than 10% ink with whatever amount of resin you've mixed. Also if you want the colors to drink you need something like a sinking pigment.
