I am just blown away! Phucking awesome! To think they're doing all these kick ass songs on a tour...you know how brutal it is to do that at any age...the Who forever!
I was there in an upper section. Daltrey's voice really warmed up after pinball wizard was done and it was a great concert. That lead violinist WOWOWOW .
Saw them last night in san jose. I've seen them many many times over the years going back to 1976. Nothing like it! MAXIMUM R&B!!!!!!! Pete's guitar tones are not of this world! RAW BALLS!!!! Zac is center man and it all revolves around him. POWERHOUSE DRUMMER!! There was a moment i thought the ceiling was going to blow off the place! DYNAMICS!!!!! I WISH I WAS GOING TO SEE IT AGAIN TONIGHT!!!
Attended The Who this past Sunday at The Woodlands Pavilion. Although a huge difference between now and their Farewell Tour of ‘82 or 3. Roger stood in the same place without touching his face so it wouldn’t smudge his makeup. Pete never could sing but smashed a mean guitar. They looked old. When standing in front of the mirror when I got home, I realized……..it’s been a long strange ride.
You did a very nice job recording this! Thanks! The sound in the arena sounds loud and Pete and Roger are bringing it! Looking forward to MSG on 5/26.....😎😁
Thanks for uploading this, good quality audio & video! I first saw the Who in 1968 when I was 16 and then 3 more times with & without Keith & John. Great to see them play in 2022! Keep on rockin’ guys, you look & sound great!
Roger is sounding better than Paul McCarteney now days. And I’m huge Beatles fan but at least I got to hear Paul twice in his prime. Saw The Who back when Keith and John were still alive. And they were one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. My opinion they still are sounding pretty good.
For 10 years, Pete Townshend has been using an EricClapton Signature Stratocaster (he put the whammy (or as old British rockers call the “wang” bar) back on. Clapton doesn’t use one. Kind of ironic, I think. In a good way! Townshend has an anecdote about it in this video (First 3 minutes) ua-cam.com/video/pdD0BGLiaP0/v-deo.html Actually, the whole interview is really enlightening.
I've always been more of a Who fan than a Led Zeppelin fan, but of all the bands of that era Zeppelin treats there music and there accomplishments with the most dignity.
The Who released a great album called WHO in 12/6/19 for all you non in the know WHO ( fans?) Jealous much ? When you are 77 & 78 nobody is going to pay to see you do anything at all!
@Jason Heaton Agreed!👍 Their sound system for the “82” tour was massive 🔊🔊and I loved the way the band arranged all the songs for that tour because it was “classic WHO” sound all the way! 🇬🇧🎸
Im a real big Who fan too......but ...when you need an orchestra like that playing behind you leads me to believe they cant produce the sound themselves anymore........Who...Kiss.....and especially Jon Bon Jovi....whose the worst of all of them.....its game over.......
Pete can't play everything at once like he does on the albums. The orchestra made Quadrophenia possible to play live. Katie is a nice touch on baba o Riley replacing the harmonica.
@@daves2058 Thnx for reply Dave. I agree with you. PS- I wasnt born yet for that Quad tour....but....i read and saw thru documentaries....that tour was a disaster for the Who....probably didnt help that Pete picked LS as their opening act....yikes....thats a hard follow......
@@jasonheaton2759 I was a small child then but I also read how frustrated Pete was about not being able to play Quadrophenia the way it was meant to be heard. The band was so wild back then. It was during this time when Roger had punched Pete and broke his nose then worried about how bad he really hurt him!
So far the tour is getting good reviews. The only bad ones are from the arm chair quarterbacks , who generally have always had a hate on for THEWHO . zeppelin has been non existent for the last forty years , the stones are flat out boring and THEWHO have always been one of the best live acts out there .
Kinda makes you wonder how long Roger can go this time. They had to stop a couple of years ago in Sugarland, Texas because his voice gave out. Some of my family members were there. Wow, touring with a large band plus an orchestra...I think Pete would throttle Roger if he craps out! It looks like an expensive operation...and I'm sure that ticket prices reflect that.
oh yeah, ticket prices were very reasonable BUT UT is out of their mind...68$ parking, 8$ pizza slices and etc. I parked less than a mile away for 24$ and had good eats be4 show at Snarfus subs.
I take your point and it’s valid ,but all the people you mentioned are worth over £100 million. I think it’s more about rock and roll lifestyle and the love of performance. Really, touring is the only life they have ever known. If you have time, here’s a interview which touches on your point. ua-cam.com/video/pdD0BGLiaP0/v-deo.html Cheers!
This beyond sad and nothing short of pathetic. The performance is bollocks! This is *everything* Pete railed against, and why he once wrote the lyric "hope I die before I get old". He didn't wish to be older and backed into a corner musically speaking, having aged out of rock n' roll. But they have, They are now phoning it in. There is nothing exciting about this. The feelings behind this music that made it raw and allowed it to make a statement in the first place, has long since mellowed and bears little resemblance to what made this band powerhouse rock icons. Speaking as someone who grew up being a die hard fan of this band it's painful to watch. I would actually prefer to listen to the old albums or watch "The Kids Are Alright" and remember what they were like at their peak. These days, this is just a bunch of rich old geezers with nothing better to do, and nothing musically new to say (of any relevance), getting richer by playing their hits. I wish they would just stop.
Couldn't have said it better myself...........Sad to see.............Just really glad I didnt go to this show........Last time I saw them LIVE was on the horrific 1982 tour (also with orchestra) and it sucked as well. I'll just remember the 73, 76 and 79 shows as well as Concert for NYC set and the Super Bowl halftimeand the 2015 Hyde Park show. Even Coachella was OK. This was..........THE END.
" Playing their hits?" I thought this setlist was the WORST ever. Leaving out classic greats like "Cant Explain", "Substitute", "My Generation", "Behind Blue Eyes" and instead playing lame crap like "Who Are You", "Eminence Front", :The Real Me" and "Join Together?" Hard to believe really.
@@jaysantos536 Would have given most anything to see them with Moon. Esp in '73 or '76! Saw the '82 show in Dallas. Aside from Pete's hair and copious amounts of eyeliner, I know something was painfully amiss when i saw he was playing a Strat. Things have never recovered. Saw the '89 tour with Simon Phillips on drums.
