Norman Leyden is probably an unsung hero and mentor of many thousands of musicians and millions of fans. His past credits in the music world are unreal. He has been instrumental (no pun intended) in composing, arranging, conducting and performing for over eighty years! And now, at age 96, he continues to perform with incredible talent. What a giant! I hope he receives a MacArthur Genius Award.
The late, beyond great Norman Leyden! He started with the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band in 1944. He left for the hereafter in July 2014. He's back with the band.
+Gregory Kayne I had the supreme privilege and honor of knowing Norm (as he asked us to call him!) during the last 4 years of his life. It was amazing to hear the years fall away as soon as he picked up his clarinet. He was a true national treasure, and like you I'm sure he's now writing all sorts of new and fabulous arrangements for The Major and the guys in the band.
Digged deeper into Hang On Little Tomato just to see Norman Leyden play it on the clarinet. Was not disappointed :)
OMG, i was there! he is truly one and only!
Hang on Little Tomato is the title
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
