Can i just say, your relationship with fig means so very much to me. My pet rabbit, chippy, died around the same time your chameleon Caspar past away. I remember listening to your song ‘big bowl in the sky’ while over his grave and crying my eyes out. He was only 6 years old, which isn’t young but rabbits typically can live almost 10 years. I couldn’t get over the idea i had done something wrong, or at the very least i didn’t treat him well enough while he was alive. I felt like i could never deserve to care for another animal again. Seeing the love you have for fig makes me feel like maybe i can love another animal as much as i loved chippy. I won’t ever forget about how happy he made me, but i can still care and love for another beautiful bunny one day. Thank you for your music and everything you do
Im so sorry for ur loss :'( Getting a new little friend could help you move on. But if you need some time to mourn thats okay. I still miss Caspar so so so much but having an animal really helps heal any kind of hurt. Chippy wouldn't want u to be sad.. he'll be so proud looking down and watching you give your love to another animal. Sending love

I’ve been really sensitive to tell most people about the fact he passed away, but seeing you and fig i was so overcome with emotion. It’s incredible how much an animal can change your life. I hope you continue to love fig and share it with the world! It makes me so happy. Maybe one day i will have another rabbit as incredible as chippy. i can only hope he and Caspar are happy wherever they are now, they both really deserve it.

Calvin Higdon I definitely understand what you mean, this was just how I personally interpreted and related to the song.
I think in a literal sense its to his parents. He will be going off to college soon and he wants to prove that if they let him grow up he will become a well functioning adult. He also knows it will be hard so he wants to keep a little distance so its not so hard. In addition at the beginning he says he doesn't want to be reminded (and i don't know)of college and growing up.
My parrot was yelling and biting me. So I put this and he calmed down, started making grunts and snorts (happy sounds), and bobing his head (it means he realizes what he is hearing is music, and he likes it).

It really means a lot to me. The first time I really listened to this, I was on a completely unexpected trip to Provincetown (it's in Massachusetts) and I was just having a really crappy day. Everything about it was just garbage. My parents just dragged me out of the house and they were the people I wanted to be with the least at the time. I had my music on shuffle, and this song came on. And that's when the tears started.
This song is ridiculously special and I wouldn't be the same person without it. It's uniquely beautiful. This is now the "crying in the car song" for me.
