The 2006 & 2013 floods on Cane Creek Road in Bakersville, NC. Featuring segment with Linnzy Ward our old neighbor... may he rest in peace, gone now 11 years?
I remember meeting Linnzy at the Texaco, but it's been a long time back. Thank you for recording this, I forgot what that water did up by Ledford Rd. I can't find any pictures of it coming up by the funeral home though, nor from the '97 flood.
Linnzy used to come sit on our porch and talk... and I used to go over to his porch and talk all about the history of this end of Mitchell. When he passed we inherited his dog "Tip"... this holler was her home! She met her demise in a different flood, she was not doing well (old age) and used to go down to her favorite spot down by the creek. A flash flood occurred over night and she was swept away down stream... we have never found her remains. I hope Linnzy, Rexy and Tip are all resting in peace. they where great neighbors to have!

Never underestimate the power of a flood
You ain't kidding! The 2013 one made a canyon out of Cane Creek Road in 5 minutes! All the asphalt ended up in my lower property!
