This was Metro Christian Center for several years before it closed. They use to have a soup kitchen that my mom would take me to when it was late in the week. One of the better soup kitchens that didn't have you sit through a sermon for a meal. Shame what happened to it.

I'm from Rockford, but call WI home. I remember this church from my childhood, it was absolutely beautiful. Much of IL and WI are full of old and historical buildings. Almost all the downtown areas (in each city or village) including Rockford, IL, look like they are from a Hallmark movie, especially during winter. Most homes here were built in the 1800s or early 1900s Have a lot of homes that look like mini "Castles". We especially have a lot of beautiful, and very old churches. I can't even list how many drop dead gorgeous churches we have in WI & IL. Especially in Milwaukee and Chicago. Sadly some of these buildings are being torn down, or acres of our land are being destroyed so developers can put up hundreds of new modern homes which look terrible and are made out of parchment and tooth picks. So sadly I think destruction, legally or illegally, of these beautiful buildings and land will continue

So the church shown in this video is The First Lutheran Church.. it is still open and standing. The church that was abandon and burned was the old Masonic Temple which later became the Metro Christian Center is the one that burned
The First Lutheran Church has two tall steeples with two windows and the old Metro Christian Center (aka Masonic Temple) has block pillars with 3 windows

There was a part of that building that the owners used to rent out in the 90’s and early 2000’s for rave parties, SO MANY GREAT MEMORIES😢
