I wish someone had told me it wasn't ok to try to open mouth kiss anyone who complimented my motorcycle. So many embarrassing moments could have avoided :'(
The sitting on someone else's bike is the one I have the biggest issue with. How anyone, biker or not, can think it's okay to sit on a bike they see parked outside a place of business, is beyond me. People have asked me why would it bother me if they are just sitting on it. It's not like they are riding it. So I ask them how they would feel if they came out of the store and saw someone sitting in their car - just sitting there, turning the steering wheel and making vroom vroom noises. Not only would it piss them off, they would probably call the cops. But if someone is doing the same thing with my property, all of sudden it's okay. No, it's not.
Bikers wouldn't sit on your bike. A bike rider would. There is a difference between bikers and bike riders. I've been riding for 40 plus years solo and in clubs and you can always tell the difference by the actions of the riders. As soon as people arrive at an event you can tell.

I will admit I am absolutely a throttle jockey. It started out due to having a bike that would stall at low rpm (horrible tune) and over the years, it's became second nature to just twist the throttle when she starts to idle down. It doesn't help that I do like the sound of my bike. I'm horrible around overpasses.
Where im originally from theres a strip of bars and clubs called the nautical mile. The kind of area where gangstas in rented lambos like to show off. Anyway, one night a pack of cruisers pull up to a light, sitting at idle waiting for the green. Guy at the back has a gsxr, custom paint, neon everywhere, extended swingarm, etc. Starts throttle jockeying so lound the gods could hear it. Very irritating way to go "hey look at me! No! Look over here!" Then it became very expensive, bc there was a lound bang and the characteristic sound of 3 cylinders dying at 10,000 rpm and a broken connecting rod clunking around. Light turned green and the cruisers pulled off and left this jackass to push his bike into the lot.
Glad Matt mentioned the duck walking. I get nervous around those rider only because I worry about their emergency braking skills. Harley's low seat height is both a blessing and a curse. You can get away with a lot of years not improving those low speed skills.

A lot of people don't realize the reason we used to pop the throttle and rev the motor at stop lights was the "lead" in the fuel in the 50's and 60's. When the bike idled the carb would lead up, so we popped the throttle to clear it. People, there isn't lead in the fuel anymore, a bike will idle all day you don't have to rev it at stop lights anymore.

@@MattLaidlaw I'm especially glad you called out the cringy remarks. All the other points are legit AF but some of the stuff people say... unbelievable
Number six was very well put but also a shocker! There's got to be something in every Harley Owners Manual that advises the rider to rev their engine needlessly at every stoplight.
Back in the 70s on a group ride , a guy I went to school with had just bought a new 750/4 . He was doing the duck walk , and gave it some throttle , dumped the bike , broke an ankle , and had a dozen of us laughing like loons . thanks for the laugh Matt . seen all these examples at one time or another over the years . I do not think that dude ever rode again .😂😂
Matt, this video is awesome! Throttle Jockeys are the worst! Also, I was just at a bike night yesterday and had to swat away someone’s hand trying to touch my bike.
Finally someone addressing these common mistakes or annoyances seen on the parking lots or just on the street. if it is with bikes or cars. Very annoying to watch. Especially the revving or overrevving into rev limiter. Soo boring and annoying. Burnouts fall under that same category.
Yes Sir...now this is premium entertainment. Had me laughing my arc off. After decades of riding, bike nights, poker runs, events at HD Dealerships, etc., what seems like just common sense and downright normal courtesy...well it's hard to imagine what is like when us seasoned riders were once new riders. Gawd, hopefully we didn't do those things (with exception perhaps to revving up the engine whenever that new exhaust system was first installed on the bike, lol). Another fun video...Thanks! Tom M., SouthBay, So. Cal. '23 RG-ST (and naturally lots of upgrades & mods...'cause no matter how hard we try, just can't leave 'em stock)
Hilarious, sad but true in many instances. Unfortunately there's no stopping some actions it seems, especially the throttle revving round here, I think it adds to the overall "hate those Harley riders" mentality. The rest was pretty Hilarious, Andrew always cracks me right up !! thanks for all your efforts Matt and crew
This was a great video and very informative. Using some humor is one of the best ways to teach. You hold people's attention, so there's more of a chance they'll remember the material.
Lots of good advice here. I've personally found myself revving my bike more than I should but I've never done it like how it was done here. Love the content as always!!
"Thats a lot of power between your legs" I'm Flippin crying over here. That cat is such a huge positive addition to the crew! I'd still enjoy seeing a walk around of the RGL he rode on one of your weekend get'aways about a year ago... black on Chrome with the t-bars. It was a loaner bike from one of his jam up good bro's, not long after he hired on if my memory serves me correctly. Of course I'm not expecting you to do a video on it but really super dooper curious about the t-bars on a RGL. Nice change of pace Matt. That had me laughing out load a few times. Hope you guys got life in a headlock. And as always, twist the grip off of it and I hope you all get laid this weekend!
The throttle jockey 😂 Great content, love it. Faux-pau #8: Harley riders to everyone else: why don't you git yourself a reeeeeeeaal bike, like a Hurley Davidson?
This is a great video not only because the information is accurate but also because I am looking to put T bars on my fatbob and I think they look great so thank you.
When I admire another ride, I put my hands behind my back just so the owner doesn't think I'm gonna touch. I even ask if I can get close to look at a detail. I won't ever get on another bike unless the owner says "hey, man, you want to sit on it?"
Love this video .....a guy at my job moved my bike to park his car .Another co worker boxed me in with his car I had to take my saddles off to move my bike
Well done, ML! Effing hilarious, dooshes need to be called out. We've all seen every example you portrayed. Often the dooshy behavior could get you a knot on your dome. So, noobs,... be aware, beware, and be warned.
Great video Matt see these things all the time especially at the dealers lot, with the loud pipes and getting blocked in so you can't even stand your bike upright. And some guys start revving the hell out of their engines and you can hear them coming a quarter mile away and they don't stop till they thankfully shut the engine down. Again great video.
1000% agree tommay. If youre lookin at this and u ride all loud and aggressive with radio blaring in a neighborhood...u look like a COMPLETE asshole. Now u know. In regards to bike being blocked, being in a club and most bike nights are other clubs, i have had my bike blocked and i just call out and someone will come get it with a few seconds. I think i would at least try to get the owner before actually moving their bike unless it's an emergency.
Hit the nail on the head with this one. This video should be mandatory for the clowns that go to these motorcycle rallies that you end up seeing on video doing all the things you said in this video! Now make one for the so called UA-cam creators that say “ah, umm, hmm” in the whole video or talks about something on the bike but just shows his face. Let’s call them out too!
Can't resist. My only "cringy" advice is watch Ride Like a Pro, Jocelyne Snow, and Doodle's UA-cam channels. Do a lot of parking lot practice and if possible take extra classes if they are available in your area. Jerry is a great police instructor, Jocelyn will impress you. She's a petite professional rider for BMW and rides the tall BMW 1200GS adventure bikes. Doodle has been great to watch as her experience is improved over time.
Good advice/reminder for all riders, a little courtesy goes a long way. I would add the impromptu stereo demonstration or competition, not everybody came for that.
Might be my favorite video of yours yet and I hope there will be more like this! All the actors were on point and I agree with all of these. A couple foot dabs are ok when you are getting the bike moving but yeah, get your feet off the damn ground. Especially that a women should somehow be confined to a sportster or moped. I loved how Lady Bad Bonez couldn’t help but break character and laugh! But I am 5’4 160 and ride a Road King Special so in this case, size does not matter so much! This is great stuff! If I ride over to SoCal again I will for sure stop by Laidlaws
Confined to a Sportster?? Just what the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm 64, 6'240, Marine veteran, combat veteran, ridden over a million miles, and I ride a 2006 Sportster 1200L. By choice. Your type really pisses me off, and that's probably something you don't want to do. You might wake up looking at a hospital ceiling.
@@geraldscott4302 dude chill, my point was everyone should ride the bike they love. Don’t know what your problem is and be careful before I take your last line as a threat.

You forgot to mention *CHILDREN* . People see nice cars in a parking lot and decide to drop off their 7 year olds thinking the classic car show is the bounce pit at McDonalds. Many think rules and laws do not apply to their kids until they turn 40.
Great tips. 43 yrs riding, seen most of these. Actually had someone at a (used to be at least) hard core biker bar, tell me "I used to be a biker 'till I cut my hair." The looks from some short haired 3-patchers was..priceless. Keep the sticky side down... Cheers
Haha! Great vid, Matt! As a 19yr vet Rider Coach, every rider, beginner or “experienced “ needs to see this. Unfortunately, much of this pertains to the general public who won’t see this vid, but need to. The duckwalk/foot-dragger part really pushes my buttons. Clutch control and low-speed riding are essential basic skills that every rider must have. I find myself yelling into my helmet (or at the tv screen at the endless biker rally vids) every time I see a rider dragging their feet or walking their bike when they should be riding with their feet on the pegs and coordinating throttle and clutch in the friction zone (light rear brake drag ok). NJ doesn’t have mandatory Ridercourse requirements like CA, but it should. There are way too many “experienced” riders on the road here that don’t posses basic riding skills and refuse to partake in training because (sic) “they already know how to ride”! Keep up the good work, Brother!
Seen this in Colorado where I live, thought it was a great video and hope that alot of people doing this looks at your video. thanks for putting that out.
Stereo types aside this was a great vid man! I now a lot of HD guys that will appreciate this. I had a dealer guy move a bike once so I moved theirs on way out. The boots on covers was great! Kids get a pass on the touching a bike no need to get angry on them.
Good tips and just the right level of humor to go with it, in an open group setting people are less likely to be so polite about this kind of stuff. Also, if in the off chance someone allows you to sit on their bike, make sure you aren't scratching their bike and don't twist the throttle or dry shift the damn thing. Goes for when you are in the showroom looking at a bike too.
When Matt said "Do not get on someone else's bike" reminds me of that one scene from sons of anarchy. "You look like a guy who gets what he wants. Take a picture. That's before and that's after".
Great video. It's all about respect. And do not duck walk ever unless your going backwards! If you can't ride real slow or stop with just one foot down your a novice learner.

To be honest I worry less about thieves than I do idiots when I have to leave my bike out of sight for ten minutes!!! (something I very rarely do...) It is incredible how many really good people just don't think with any level of respect.
Great points. There are a LOT of people that really need to see this video
Yes there are!
@@MattLaidlaw I'm especially glad you called out the cringy remarks. All the other points are legit AF but some of the stuff people say... unbelievable
You guys definitly know comic timing... excellent and entertaining vid.
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
The slo-mo of the chip falling out of his mouth...yeah, I laughed out loud on that one.
Thats why we spend the big bucks on cameras. We really want to capture the details for you guys.
Nick's slow mo is the best in the business
Hah! Fun one Matt! Particularly like the Tommy Chong throttle rever…I look forward to the next one!
Haha. Thanks man.
OMG I’m guilty! I do at least half those foo-paws. I can’t help it-I’m an idiot.
LOL! At least you admit it and want to change
Sorry, could not avoid commenting on the Yamaha GTS 1000 at the start of your video, haven't seen one in nearly ten years!
The Rock Store brings out the best
Matt, this video is awesome! Throttle Jockeys are the worst! Also, I was just at a bike night yesterday and had to swat away someone’s hand trying to touch my bike.
The Finger'ers are out there! Be wary
Man I was cringing watching this !! If you did that shit around here you would get your ass kicked quickliy!! Good stuff brother!!
Haha Thanks Eric
Haha! Thanks for the comment Tom!. Yes, I suppose we were all new at one point.
A good rule of thumb is to treat other's motorcycles like you would their firearms, girlfriends, or wives. Unless you're a thief.
Gotta love the guy with the chips. That must have been a fun part to play.
This was a great video and very informative. Using some humor is one of the best ways to teach. You hold people's attention, so there's more of a chance they'll remember the material.
Thanks for the feedback. We had fun making it. Glad it turned out informative.
Lots of good advice here. I've personally found myself revving my bike more than I should but I've never done it like how it was done here. Love the content as always!!
I've watched many dudes burn there shit up in fla hot day traffic light after light remember kids they are air cooled ad gas n air makes heat
My wife rides also. I love the last one! Wish I had a dollar for every time she’s heard that one!😂
Haha, women always get the best lines thrown at them. Dirty bikers can't resist
Your "actors" were such goof balls, I love it. Looking forward to your next one!
Mick Fleetwood's expression to getting his bike Cheetoe'd was the best. J/K, good video.
The throttle jockey 😂 Great content, love it. Faux-pau #8: Harley riders to everyone else: why don't you git yourself a reeeeeeeaal bike, like a Hurley Davidson?
Go back to your sewing videos Nancy!
This is a great video not only because the information is accurate but also because I am looking to put T bars on my fatbob and I think they look great so thank you.
Yea, the bars on this Fat Bob are perfect
These are absolutely great suggestions and I only wish people would adhere to these! GET PERMISSION!!! before you touch!😊
Seems Obviously but I guess different people were raised differently.
Please forward this video to them. 😁
@@MattLaidlaw the guy that box me in I called him and told him his car was on fire . The guy moved my car realized 2 flat tires equals a tow truck
Well done, ML! Effing hilarious, dooshes need to be called out. We've all seen every example you portrayed. Often the dooshy behavior could get you a knot on your dome. So, noobs,... be aware, beware, and be warned.
One of the greatest videos ever created thanks guys!!
Thank you!! We had fun making it
😂😂 sometimes people need to hear the truth!! Good job Matt!!!
Haha thanks man!
This was awesome! I laughed out loud. I've seen a few of these and have had people sitting on my bike, taking pictures without permission.
The fingerer is my favorite, hilarious 🤣 also this might keep someones ass from getting stomped
Me eye was twitching the whole time, lol
@@oldmanjim2376 😆
Great video Matt see these things all the time especially at the dealers lot, with the loud pipes and getting blocked in so you can't even stand your bike upright. And some guys start revving the hell out of their engines and you can hear them coming a quarter mile away and they don't stop till they thankfully shut the engine down. Again great video.
ALL My annoying Harley Neighbors can’t resist making to much noise with open exhaust and radio within the community
Hard for many to resist the urge
That’s funny man! Got to do more videos like this! Lol!!!
1000% agree tommay.
If youre lookin at this and u ride all loud and aggressive with radio blaring in a neighborhood...u look like a COMPLETE asshole. Now u know. Ive been riding all types of bikes for 40+ years. Knock off the BS please. I love to let it rip on main roads and highways, but neighborhoods...NO
@@michaelmurdock4607
So u cant afford a Harley so everyones a GD doctor who rides em ...? I guess? Not sure what your weed-stank-brain post was tryin to say there..
Freaking loved that video lol!
This should be mandatory for every new rider. Don't hand them the keys until they watch this damn video!
A couple of those scenes made me blow a head gasket. Having a vivid black Street Glide and Heritage my OCD is off the charts 😄. I had a lady lift her kid onto my Heritage one time, I lost my sh_t. Another great vid Matt
Oh man, the kid on the bike by a parent is the worst Haha! I feel you on that one.
You should have punched that little punk right in the cereal hole. You could have taught his little Cinnamon Toast Crunch eating ass a leason and got a date with his mom. 😂
@@MattLaidlaw thing is, if ya just parked, the kid could get burnt.
@@michaelgriffith2379 Not that a kid getting hurt is good, but I would have a hard time feeling bad. Leave other people’s shit alone. This goes for everything, not just motorcycles.
All excellent points. Thanks for sharing Matt.
Thanks Clint
Good tips. It was delivered in a fun way, but got the point across. How about one on group rides?
Funny you should say that. The group ride one is coming up next
As a female rider and new-ish rider…thanks for making this video. Love it ❤️
Can't resist.
Yes! I wish I would have added that! Unfortunate omission.
Such good points to make. I gotta say, throttle jockey when he got off his bike and kept revving it, I fell out. That was funny.
@@geraldscott4302 my point was most people have the idea that women should only ride sportster and that any more bike is too much for them. Just saying that’s not true at all and I don’t believe I said anywhere that taller people shouldn’t ride a sporty. So Jesus get over yourself
@@mickeygaines007 Not a threat from me, but you never know what somebody might do if you put down their bike. Not a good idea to put down somebody else's bike just because you think it's cool to do so, or because you are just copying somebody else.
@@geraldscott4302 which it still seems like you took my statement totally different than it was intended. I want everyone to ride what they want to ride and I havnever put down anyone over their choice of bikes. You took it wrong and got all bent out of shape for whatever reason. My point was don’t let someone’s size or whatever determine what bike you think they “should” be on. I was agreeing with the point the author of the video was trying to make not knock someone’s bike choice. Ride the hell out of your sportster and be safe, fuck dude.
Agree, especially with the duck walkers and rev bombers!
A foot dab is ok when you are getting the bike moving but yeah get your damn feet off the ground haha!
How'd you get Chong to appear in your video?
He’s a personal friend.
Great Video, and Advice......I see people just walking up and sitting on people's bikes!.....and then...find out how heavy the bike is, and it ends up a Tragedy
What great actors you got Matt! You must've paid top dollar for those professionals! HAHA! Glad you pointed out these things, hopefully the numbskulls that do these things will watch & learn! Cheers!🏍💨
I got some natural actors here apparently. Yes, hopefully someone who needs this video will watch it
The deliberate kicking the saddlebags gettin on and off the bike then the high fives. Almost killed me 😂😂🤞
Shout out to Danielle ! I was there yesterday and she took care of me. Definitely gon make sure to cop my first Harley with y’all.
You forgot to mention *CHILDREN* . People see nice cars in a parking lot and decide to drop off their 7 year olds thinking the classic car show is the bounce pit at McDonalds. Many think rules and laws do not apply to their kids until they turn 40.
Number 3 induced an actual physical anger response as I was watching you guys demo it xD
Haha. Sounds like it hit with you.
@@MattLaidlaw I've had it happen to my bike, suffice to say I "helped" the guy off.
I know you guys were being serious about the faux pas, but thanks for the comical aspect too! It was pretty hilarious! The music went perfectly.
Great tips. 43 yrs riding, seen most of these. Actually had someone at a (used to be at least) hard core biker bar, tell me "I used to be a biker 'till I cut my hair." The looks from some short haired 3-patchers was..priceless.
Keep the sticky side down...
Cheers
I wish I could “like” this a hundred times.
Hilarious! Good job on the acting guys, another great Laidlaw production!
Matts slightly elevated "Do Not Touch other peoples bikes" is hilarious. Great video dude!
Seen this in Colorado where I live, thought it was a great video and hope that alot of people doing this looks at your video. thanks for putting that out.
I loved these!!!!! Keep em coming.
Will do !
That boot banging the case and then the dragging across the seat...spot on...
How is it even possible to do that on bikes that low lmao. Ppl be clumsy
Stereo types aside this was a great vid man! I now a lot of HD guys that will appreciate this. I had a dealer guy move a bike once so I moved theirs on way out. The boots on covers was great! Kids get a pass on the touching a bike no need to get angry on them.
Agreed. Kids get a pass. Thanks for the comment
I think these apply to all bikers-not just Harleys. Great vid.
😂exactly, I'm very forward and will let anyone know, " stay away from my bike". Matt, that stache, epic.
