It is so great to have a woman on the podcast because I wanted to see how differently you guys behave or maybe talk about the same things around a woman. Well, it was more than satisfying to watch you all talk about 90s, first with excitement and fanfic, the relationship of movies with individual lives and then move ahead to be critical of it and its real impact on the society. I would love to see more episodes about the cultural effects of bollywood and evolution of bollywood since five decades. Get Anuya too! :)
Pushkar Chintaluri Good observation. The only difference i could think of was mpk is rich vs poor, and ddlj treaded on the lines of desi vs videsi. Somehow the father sees the boy videsi.
The last part of the podcast was mind blowing. Stalking was so prominent in the 90s movies, it has been used as an excuse for over two decades now. Plus, what kind of misogyny and patriarchy was it on the writers' and directors' part for making women in 90s' movies fall in love with their stalkers.
Yes 90's was the game changer. My favourite Dil se... its been 18 years still the best cinema ever made in Hindi film industry whether the screenplay, music, acting everything is still relevant to this time zone. Thumsup To Dil se.. and the team :)
Can Karan Talwar ever acknowledge something good in Bollywood? I agree it has it's own limitations but mocking it everytime and praises foreign films like some crazy fanatic is nonsensical
Loved Aadar's points towards the end mentioning prevalence of stalking in South Indian films and the mention of Javed Akhtar's speech on how right wing intolerance has grown.
"I will be lynched for saying this, but I think that Andaaz Apna Apna doesn't stand the test of time". I don't know about Andaaz Apna Apna, but for me, DDLJ definitely doesn't. Just an over romanticised movie.
I think they haven't watched DDLJ completely the first half is their love story ....just before SRK starts pataoing her dad he waits for kajol to come to c him before the tujha dekha song and she confesses love to him...
You could have talked more about the good points of 90s films and the reasons we feel so nostalgic for that era rather than just full on railing on them and painting this picture that everything in them was either copied/derivative, patriarchal, or both. 90s films can still be enjoyable if they're watched as a product of that era. I re-watched Baazigar recently and loved it despite its flaws.
+blackfiresong bro thats what they do bringing everything down point out only bad points to show how intellectual they are its so easy to be a pessimist and comedian these days ppl are so happy to gain laughter by abusing n insulting other ppl this is what our indian English comedy has become to be honest i hate the fact that we rarely do make good movies but from nineties how can u forget darr ghayal bazigar jo jeeta wahi sikandar sarfarosh and deewana mastana andaz apna apna its an exhaustive list so the point is if they speak about good things or even balance it out it is less crass and absurd like their comedy and that wont grab enough eyeballs so they are like just go their maim everything out there as if they have done something like oscars or bafta they dont know not everyone is fool and ppl know their agenda and thats why they are youtubers and wil die as one no offence to youtubers but to own a huge hall or to have your own show and make a movie is the real big deal
I love Govinda,s shit from 90's and early 2000's. It was over the top and cheesy... sure! But still fun to watch. Stuff like Dulhe Raja, Bade Miyaa Chotte Miya, Sandwich, Kyun ki Mai jhooth nai bolta etc.... and a few others... 😂😂
I think maybe you could have a second episode specifically on 90s music - you covered it briefly, but there is a lot more that can be explored - the lyrics, the dance moves, the costumes, the locations, the point in the movie where the songs would be introduced, and of course, the music and percussion... Great eipsode..I don't think it was overly critical (about Andaz Apna Apna or any other movie) as some of the comments point out. Seemed like a normal discussion... And Anuya was mindblowing - every line she spoke was witty!
90's Horror show "Woh", adapted from a Stephen King's novel "It" . Saw That whole series on YT .. some days back. And i was crazy about the title track of the show. You guys remember? ;)
wow, looks like bollywood gandu is totally gandu for bollywood. Never heard of him praising any movie. and whoever is saying ANDAZ APNA APNA a bullshit..tumhari THAK KI TIKI THAK KI TIKI THA...
Hi guys - I think you missed one of the most special films of 90s in your discussion - Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na. For me this remains till date SRK's best work! Thanks for the lovely discussions and really enjoyed the video.
Just loved the way your guys discuss some very crucial social aspects so bluntly. Please come up with a part 2 of this episode. Great job! And Aadar, Varun you guys are really funny. Cheers.
Varun, I'm with you on Andaz apna apna.. I've watched that movie more than 15 times.. and yet I don't get bored.. that's the funniest movie with amazing actings..😜
Great episode! loved Anuya Jakatdar on this. you should bring her back sometime. You should consider doing an extended audio only version of this like an actual podcast. I would download the shit out of that.
Should bring in kanan and biswa for 90s bollywood. A lot of pretentious movie reviews focuses on 90s movies. Anuya is a wonderful addition btw. Wish she became a regular
After watching this i checked out the list of movies of the 90s on Wiki. Its sad, but there were a few good movies as well guys. I personally feel that Anjaam, Damini, Ghulam, Vaastav, Sangharsh, Sarfarosh, Dushman, Sirf Tum and the dubbed ones Roja and Bombay are worthy of mention!
Varun features in an advertisement in which the girl with him is shown giggling with a guy owning a better phone after he gets 'burned'. So much for women's perspective and sensible content creation!
yes.. we need a second episode.. and guys, u also said there were gonna be many more second episodes.. please go through your previous episodes again.. I like u guys discussing various topics.. it helps clear out the chaos in my mind. keeping doing this show.. it rocks!
Guys u missed mentioning A.R. RAHMAN's work. He changed the whole Bollywood music scenario at that time. Dil Se, Taal, Rangeela, Bombay. He had a huge contribution in 90's cinema. And apart from that i just luv ur channel. Especially the podcast, I never miss this. You guys are killing it. And please bring Kenny and Kanan on ur show. Its a fan request.
About the cultural influence bollywood has regarding chasing girls and stalking them or violently flirting with them, there's an episode about it in SV where Aamir discusses it with some bollywood actresses and it's worth a watch. Also, you should definitely make another part on this bollywood 90s or 2000s for that matter. I love these podcasts. Love from Norway.
You guys should do two podcasts every week maybe. Still waiting for all the part 2s😜Nevertheless, probably one of my fave vid. So much to talk about when it comes to the 90s
Ehm If i may add to that.. Andaaz Apna Apna was most of all EPIC!! .. Lol .. trivia moment, remember the opening between Aamir & Juhi and when it was revealed to be all his dream.. and Aamir wakes up, simply goes - 'Papa aap paanch minute baad nahi bulla sakthe the, hamara shadi ka scene tho bass hone wala tha'
When i was 10 yrs old i got my first Electronic Music dose from the 90s movie Gupt ...i was so blown away with the suspense that it got me into the world art and cinema specifically but Gupt always held an important place in my heart because of the sheer originality till my curiosity led me to the revelation of gupt music being copied from Deep Forest's debut album.... for me the most influential cinema of 90s has to be Andaaz Apna Apna ... So all you guys who hated it ...Main toh kehta hun aap purush hi nahi hain, mahapurush hain mahapurush! Peace P.S It's not me it's the THC
Discussion of 90s Bollywood is incomplete without mentioning classics of that era like SATYA, Machis etc. Hope you will cover them too in next episode.
SONGS!!! 90s n 80s songs were just awesome..not the music but lyrics.. if u play antakshari.. u end up singing either kishore kumar n mohd Rafi`s song or kumar sanu n unit narayan's.. n whatever the mood is..there always be a 90s song for the situation playing in ur head..
Guys you forgot Ageepath and from the 80's Jaane bhi do yaaron, Appu Rajaand & Pushpak. Also I think Andaaz Apna Apna was maybe the first Bollywood Spoof movie.
Just a mention I think in today's date if there is a female artist who can pull a movie off single handed has to be Vidya Balan. Her screen presence is quite commanding overall!!
Note on Border: they showed that flying scene because the Air Force had flown at record low altitude to escape the radars... Probably still couldn't see that thumbs up. Still has me cracking up :D
I so wish you guys had talked more about the iconic dance moves of the 90s, like Govinda in "Akhiyon se goli maare", Sunny Deol in "Yaara O Yaara" and Karishma in "Sona kitna sona hai"...!! :P Not to forget, the crowd dancing along on the roads!! :D Well, a special shout out to the lyrics we had during those days, you know, like "tu tu tu tu tu taara", or "teri naani mari to main kya karun?" Sanskaari, but funny..! ;) :P
TRIVIA - Madhuri Dixit was paid more than 'Bhai' in Hum Aapke Hai Kaun !!
Bhai denies it though. But probably true
Wanted to like your comment but it is 69 so.......
22:43 - I agree with Anuya.
Recent example: English Vinglish - written and directed by Gauri Shinde
It is so great to have a woman on the podcast because I wanted to see how differently you guys behave or maybe talk about the same things around a woman. Well, it was more than satisfying to watch you all talk about 90s, first with excitement and fanfic, the relationship of movies with individual lives and then move ahead to be critical of it and its real impact on the society. I would love to see more episodes about the cultural effects of bollywood and evolution of bollywood since five decades. Get Anuya too! :)
That was a good read, Anuya changed the dynamic.
Wasn't Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) also a "boy doesn't steal the girl" but "requests permission from dad and wins him over" type of movie?
Pushkar Chintaluri Good observation. The only difference i could think of was mpk is rich vs poor, and ddlj treaded on the lines of desi vs videsi. Somehow the father sees the boy videsi.
@@budguesor9222 in both the movie the father realise that no one can love his daughter more
Glad to see Varun standing up for AAA. Huge respect..
24:19.. Anuya Jakatdar in her mind, "Tanmay we gotta make a video on this.." ;)
How do you not have more likes? :P
Atharva Karandikar nobody got it I suppose!!
andaz apna apna is the best...respect for vaarun the way he defended andaz apna apna
Totally agree with Anuya on the women perspective thing!

I'm about to finish Alif Laila and was looking for another show to watch 😉🤘
The last part of the podcast was mind blowing. Stalking was so prominent in the 90s movies, it has been used as an excuse for over two decades now.
Plus, what kind of misogyny and patriarchy was it on the writers' and directors' part for making women in 90s' movies fall in love with their stalkers.
So Andaz Apna Apna is BS, but 90's romance is awesome !!
WOW !!
90s Bollywood benefits greatly from nostalgia.
andaz apna apna is awesome ! it definitely stands the test of time.
I was about to start studying but you uploaded TBQ.
*sigh*

GUYS CHECKOUT MY CHANNEL.. I AM A MAGICIAN
Bhushan Naik No.
Same here man. Now after lunch.

Please dont mess with Andaz Apna Apna...its a legend on its own
Yes 90's was the game changer.
I fucking agree..he seems like one of those assholes who idiolizes everything western while undermining our own culture. God I hate people like him.
i agree
yup..he is like that guy who came from an abroad visit and still has the baggage tags on even the carry bag...after 6 months
Yup, if he acknowledges every bad thing, he has to agree to even some good ones, but NO
He is that guy who hates a hindi movie but loves the same movie when it gets dubbed in english...
Andaaz apna apna is at least 2 podcasts in itself.. its a superb movie.classic ! please do one podcast on andaaz apna apna itself!
Loved Aadar's points towards the end mentioning prevalence of stalking in South Indian films and the mention of Javed Akhtar's speech on how right wing intolerance has grown.
a thumbnail without kautuk shrivastav automatically becomes a clickbait
Drinking Game: Take a shot every time Varun and Anuya hi-five
"I will be lynched for saying this, but I think that Andaaz Apna Apna doesn't stand the test of time".
I don't know about Andaaz Apna Apna, but for me, DDLJ definitely doesn't. Just an over romanticised movie.
It's way too overrated.
yesss omg ddlj is really overrated lmao
True that .
Definitely
I think they haven't watched DDLJ completely the first half is their love story ....just before SRK starts pataoing her dad he waits for kajol to come to c him before the tujha dekha song and she confesses love to him...
I'm damn sure Aadar is always high in the podcasts😂
lol
CHECKOUT MY CHANNEL BRO.. I AM A MAGICIAN

Andaz Apna Apna is still way ahead of its time!
"Andaz Apna Apna"... ISS CHEEZ KE UPPAR NAHI BOLNE KAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
AAA is THE BEST comedy film till date. Period.
Well 3 idiots gives me more laugh
You could have talked more about the good points of 90s films and the reasons we feel so nostalgic for that era rather than just full on railing on them and painting this picture that everything in them was either copied/derivative, patriarchal, or both. 90s films can still be enjoyable if they're watched as a product of that era. +blackfiresong
bro thats what they do bringing everything down point out only bad points to show how intellectual they are
its so easy to be a pessimist and comedian these days
ppl are so happy to gain laughter by abusing n insulting other ppl this is what our indian English comedy has become
to be honest i hate the fact that we rarely do make good movies
but from nineties how can u forget darr ghayal bazigar jo jeeta wahi sikandar sarfarosh and deewana mastana andaz apna apna its an exhaustive list
so the point is if they speak about good things or even balance it out it is less crass and absurd like their comedy and that wont grab enough eyeballs
so they are like just go their maim everything out there as if they have done something like oscars or bafta
they dont know not everyone is fool and ppl know their agenda and thats why they are youtubers and wil die as one
no offence to youtubers but to own a huge hall or to have your own show and make a movie is the real big deal
I know I am going to get a lot of hate for this..
but I missed Kautuk yaar...
He always has some brilliant points to discuss. Maybe thats the reason.
I miss Kautuk too yaar
i missed him too...
Me three! Is Kautuk okay? He had a good beard game going for him.
Himanshu Khandekar kautak 😕❤
andaz apna apna is now considered a cult! I have watched it innumerable times
Looks like anuya and aadar bought their pants from the same store :P
I thought that was the uniform!!!
I loved Anuya jakatdar...she was the best guest after Biswa
Her laughter makes me punch a gorrila in the dick, but she's pretty funny.
Nazi Pikachu that is a pretty intense emotion yo have there
+Nazi Pikachu Don't talk about Harambe like that
***** celebrity amidst....so starstruck ..much wow
Taarush Vemulapalli Nobody knew who Harambe was until he got noscoped
completely agree that somehow 90s songs had really hummable quality about them. mostly simple tunes and guess that's why they are stuck in our heads.
gold dust came on varun's face!!! -Adar Malik 2016
failed handshake attempt by aadar @7:48 XD
yeah boi
Podcasts are awesome
Failed high five at 17:07 as well lol.

Guys please do not stop doing Big Question series......This is awesome. I wait for it every tuesday 👌👌👍
I still fight for remote if andaz apna apna is on TV...
anuya's laugh is the best thing in this podcast
I think maybe you could have a second episode specifically on 90s music - you covered it briefly, but there is a lot more that can be explored - the lyrics, the dance moves, the costumes, the locations, the point in the movie where the songs would be introduced, and of course, the music and percussion...

And Anuya was mindblowing - every line she spoke was witty!
Varun and Anuya are seriously hitting it!! Varun go for it man!!!
13:48 I paused and checked this on UA-cam. It's true 😂
Anuya's awesome...!

Hi guys - I think you missed one of the most special films of 90s in your discussion - Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na. For me this remains till date SRK's best work! Thanks for the lovely discussions and really enjoyed the video.
SRK an average actor for sure
Just loved the way your guys discuss some very crucial social aspects so bluntly.

Make Anuya permanent in your podcasts !
Absolutely LOVED this podcast! Anuya is such a huge change . Please make more podcasts with her.
Andaz apna apna!! it's on Netflix n I watched it recently.. it's still so epic!!😂 yeh teja teja kya hai?
Andaaz apna apna has stood the test of time. Totally agree with what varun and aadar had to say.
Andaz apna apna is a masterpiece of 90s
I second that!
so is gunda for b grade movies!
It's a masterpiece of all time.
both are master pieces in their own league :D
Ayla
After watching this i checked out the list of movies of the 90s on Wiki. Its sad, but there were a few good movies as well guys. I personally feel that Anjaam, Damini, Ghulam, Vaastav, Sangharsh, Sarfarosh, Dushman, Sirf Tum and the dubbed ones Roja and Bombay are worthy of mention!
Still there are so many Rangeela 1942:A Love Story Satya Kaun? Khamoshi:The Musical Shool
Guys Andaaz Apna Apna deserves a complete episode...... its a legendary movie
Best thing about Tuesday!
I like u guys discussing various topics.. it helps clear out the chaos in my mind. keeping doing this show.. it rocks!
This was the best episode....can you please call anuya again and make a part 2 of 90s Bollywood
Anuya Jakatdar is absolutely amazing.
Its a fan request.
whole Movie is Iconic..."Andaz Apna Apna" ... Takla n ladki pagal hai..
Aaj bilkul mza nhi aata
Omg! I cannot agree more about the Andaz apna apna thing!!! Thank you for saying it.
I didn't know Aadar was Anu Malik's son.. My sympathies..
Nephew actually
Yeh Abu Mailk ka beta hai kaya

You guys should do two podcasts every week maybe. Still waiting for all the part 2s😜Nevertheless, probably one of my fave vid. So much to talk about when it comes to the 90s
Gettt lost andaaz apna apna is the best. Its a classic
And Govinda going Aa gale Lag jaaaaa... EPIC!

gr8 episode....anuya sounds fun
Anuya, you need to feature more on these podcasts! those sarcasms and all the sudden jest! i like your wit :)
Thank you for Ajooba & GoldDust... ROFL..
2nd episode is a must..
Loved this podcast. I totally agree with Anuya. We need more women scriptwriters to write strong female characters for films.
Discussion of 90s Bollywood is incomplete without mentioning classics of that era like SATYA, Machis etc. Hope you will cover them too in next episode.
anuya is awesome man. You guys should bring her often
SONGS!!! 90s n 80s songs were just awesome..not the music but lyrics.. if u play antakshari.. u end up singing either kishore kumar n mohd Rafi`s song or kumar sanu n unit narayan's.. n whatever the mood is..there always be a 90s song for the situation playing in ur head..
well, 20 years in future... someone will be mocking SNG just like you mocking Andaz apna apna....
Karan Talwar makes every discussion non-funny. All the big question videos without this guy are funnier
+Smit Mahajani sucks for you
Oh such a poor sense of humor you've got them. He's one of the best guys on the internet.
Smit Mahajani exactly bro you are rt ... karan is so stupid
SnG Comedy no way karan is actually ruining all these videos
KT mast hain but kautak was better when pehle ppl let him talk coz that guy is actually smart
Anuya connecting Nila Dupatta with MJs they don’t care about us was straight genius!
Guys you forgot Ageepath and from the 80's Jaane bhi do yaaron, Appu Rajaand & Pushpak.
Also I think Andaaz Apna Apna was maybe the first Bollywood Spoof movie.
you missed nana patekar..... krantivir, yashwant, parida these r good movies of 90s
For last two days I have been singing "tu ru ru tu ru tu ru tu ru kaha se karu me pyar shuru" song... 😔 can't get it out of my head.
Please do one for Bollywood in the early 2000s
Hey SNG loved this episode! Would love to see another one on this topic! Anuya was awesome!
hawwwwww .... andaz apna apna ..... come one .... one of the best movies ever ..... but let's not forget how the 90's helped evolve Hindi cinema
Prem vs Rahul from the 90's :)
YOU NEVER COME UP WITH "THE ONE MORE EPISODE NEEDED TO COVER"....!!! PLZ DO IT !! WE LOVE IT..!!
Just a mention I think in today's date if there is a female artist who can pull a movie off single handed has to be Vidya Balan. Her screen presence is quite commanding overall!!
Awesome! If we lose Rani Mukherji we have a spare!
Note on Border: they showed that flying scene because the Air Force had flown at record low altitude to escape the radars... Probably still couldn't see that thumbs up. Still has me cracking up :D
Man! I am almost in love with Anuya
:D Well, a special shout out to the lyrics we had during those days, you know, like "tu tu tu tu tu taara", or "teri naani mari to main kya karun?" Sanskaari, but funny..! ;) :P
