OK I’m going to go against the grain here - I like both the Killers and James Acaster! Some massive, anthemic pop songs in their catalogue, and they’ve always come across as genuine rather than cynical.
I was very happy Stuart said that- actually motivated me to take a deeper look into the band (including strange collaborations) which was really worth it. If you doubt Stuart's words listen to "Tranquilize". And I use his exact words to tell people they should listen to Kasabian.
Mr Brightside is a song i hate. Not because its shit but because it reminds me of the end of a disco as 14 year old...something deeply ingrained in me despises it.
Mr. Brightside was the last song that will last forever, whether people will like it or not. There hasn't been such a timeless record released since then.
What does all this mean? I know music appreciation is all subjective but you've essentially said that in the nigh-on two decades since it was released, there hasn't been a song that will remain ad infinitum in the public consciousness other than Mr. Brightside. That's some thesis.
@@Zavala1 That's exactly what I'm saying. Mr. Brightside is the last song that your granny knows the words to, and your little nephew also knows the words to. There are thousands upon thousands of other songs before it that also have the same stature, but there are very, very few songs released after it that hold the same longevity. In 5 years those songs will also disappear, but Mr. Brightside will still be playing at 3am as the last song in a club, that's trying to close.

If that's against the grain, I'm right there with you. I'm sick of Mr brightside, but Sam's town is one of my all time favourite albums.
Could just listen/watch James Acaster all day every day!
I didn't go to school with James Acaster, in fact, I've never met him. It's quite unlikely that I ever will.
I heard some celebrity did this thing once too!
He said "gladly" for those misunderstanding the Kettering accent 😊

James Acaster likes Turnstile, I can die happy.

I always had to perform it at weddings and stuff so all i feel when i hear it is deadpan nothing. Any hate or love was gouged out from practice
Flowers is a mormon............
Flowers on Skavlan with Richard Dawkins is funny if you like to see a grown man almost blubbering
I went to school with James.

@@gregbillhill definitely one of the last, but i’d argue blank space by taylor swift is truly the last.
James Acaster isnt making eye contact with the camera... make eye contact damn youuu!
Are you new to Acaster?
@@beatnikmary ive seen him around
“You like rock music” should not be followed by “You like The Killers” 🤣
...do you not consider their music "rock"?
I can't stand Mr Brightside, and don't have time for The Killers as a whole. It is a catchy song, though that doesn't cut it.
Flowers music will be around 100 years later, Acaster who…
Killers are irrelevant now nvm 100 years from now 😂
@@Michael-hc2vs how can they be so irrelevant when they just got their 7th UK number one in the Album Charts. The 9th for Brandon Flowers.
