I´ve been playing no less than 6 weeks! :D) the process you follow to prepare a song? How you "work" it before going for it and recording these wonderful performances? Maybe this could be a topic for another video?
Hi Javier - thanks so much, that means a lot! Good idea - I might do that. Generally, it's a pretty short prep. I generally play a new mouthpiece for 20-30 minutes, and then pick a song and just go for it. I like to have real blow through the mouthpiece, even if it's not perfect, so that people can hear how the equipment plays in real life. Thanks so much!

I meant starting by how you "learn" the song and then how you decide for an improvised line or another from the multiple options you might come up with. But the actual preparation for the recording process as you mentioned is also definitely interesting.
Eastman 52nd ...if you can get past the fact that it's a Made In Taiwan horn....clearly you can get good sounds from...along with the right mouthpiece/reed...and skills. Well played!!! Affordable horn priced just above a "student" and just below an entry-level Pro sax...
As someone who picks up and plays a lot of tenors, do you notice particular playability differences between the different modern brands, or modern vs vintage? Do you have a particular horn that you would personally favor picking up and playing if you were just going to practice? Why?
It's not bad! Really, if you just swab it out after playing, and occasionally wipe it down with a dry cloth, you should be good. The horn will naturally darken and patina over time, but if you just leave it that way, the patina will protect it from any deterioration.
Your playing makes the mouthpiece live up to its billing.
