I think both Gunn and Snyder were poor choices but at least Snyder didn't run the studio and thankfully had some checks on his worst instincts, who is the check on Gunn's ego? And Gunn has proven he doesn't have the backbone to check his employees bad decisions either because he ran to the press about Kyle Chandler's casting in Lanterns but didn't actually, you know, stop it. The DCU is already tainted with the Snyderverse's DNA and Gunn is now repeating the same mistakes by letting everyone do what they want instead of what's best for the character. Sorry people have been hating on you instead of seeing what is plainly obvious, Gunn's leftovers are already spoiled. If you have to cherry pick the continuity of your reboot then you've already lost the plot. Subbed like amf.
So far, I feel like I've only been hearing good stuff about what's in store for this new cinematic universe. Anything negative I still hear I feel like isn't as strong as the positive but maybe I'm not actively looking for negative stuff. You forget that different people are going to be coming in to direct these projects. James Gunn isn't doing everything. Letting different people to do what they want with the DC characters I think is actually a good thing as not everything is going to feel restrictive and creative freedom will flow a lot better that way. That's something I believe the DCEU stumbled a lot. Either giving too much creative freedom that the project feels out of place from the rest of the universe or not a lot of creative freedom that it critically feels surpressed to tie into another project. The DCU at least needs to oversee and plan out what people specifically want to do with these future projects. There are also the Elseworld stories we should be looking forward to as those will be one-off standalone stories not pertaining to the DCU continuity.
Warner Brothers as a company is something I don't understand. Ben 10 is a billion dollar franchise owned by Warner Brothers with no attention given to it from their side. Even though there are millions of fans out there. It is the only billion dollar franchise owned by cartoon network. Yet all we get from cartoon network is the shitty teen titans go.
I know I said the only entertainment value DC has is to crash and burn but mainly because they keep failing and people pay way more what happens behind the scenes than what WB and DC puts on screen. I don’t want Superman to fail but I’m not expecting it to succeed. I have low expectations that it’ll even be good or decent. But James Gunn is not inspiring confidence.
If that’s how you feel after hearing the truth, then I don’t know what to tell you besides that you shouldn’t be wasting your time by listening further.
