- Hey you guys! I hope you enjoyed this video! We loved Fade to Black and we truly enjoyed reacting to Metallica with Sara! Sara has come a long way with us and we are sad to see her leave but she has to be with her family. We just want to thank everyone for big supportive of our channel and for supporting Sara as well. Hopefully as soon as this all ends Sara will come back again to make special appearances. Metallica is an amazing band and we enjoyed their playing! So we figured, we have Metallica shirts and we wanted to react to a song together one last time! I was 14 when this album came out and going through some very dark times, this song saved me. Every word in the lyrics was what I was feeling but the final solo was so inspiring, so uplifting so impactful that it showed me that there was a little light within the darkness and there was hope... I'm 50 now and have had battled depression all my life yet this song is my life line...

@@danasfaith5738 if you want to try some new music you can check out Asspera is a Bizarre Metal band from Argentina. "Asspera - El ritual del pueblo (the peoples ritual) oficial 2013" could be a nice song to start. The song talk about the rituals ( live shows / concerts ) and the people who comes and enjoy with them. Every single show that Asspera plays give almost all the money they do by the tickets on charity to help people on the streets, etc. Really funny and kind guys, they play with masks (actually are white underwear just like an anti-hero comic character from an Argentinian 90's comic book "El Cazador / The Hunter) . I agree but I do find every thing past the black album with the exception of lulu and st anger to be good albums
@@joeyhammer6702 for me anything from St anger on is when they fell off with exception of some songs here and there, first four albums you could listen to the entire thing on repeat and be satisfied but for me it's hard to do with the later albums. I will say I have to give them credit for hardwired because they brought the older feel back
Up to the Black Album (before) is the magic that sold them hundreds of millions of records. They needed to take break. Unfortunately they were enslaved to the old record industry and legal contracts. I lament what they could have been if allowed creative freedom, breaks and the horrific Bob Rock effect. That movie made me want everyone but Kirk and Jason to die in a dumpster. I spent thousands on Mettalica, now I almost pity them.

When they complained about that it would mean less creative freedom both regarding how to perform and what to perform the big boss answered: _- Well, wouldn't you rather perform in front of 12 thousand in the audience instead of 12?_
Then the drummer Paulina answered: _- We would rather perform in front of 12 people if that means we can control _*_what_*_ we play, _*_where_*_ we play, and _*_how_*_ we dress._
Today they have 1050 Patreons to make it possible for them to keep their creative freedom. This is their encore after a 2 hr show full of their originals.

Seattle 89 concert is the best so far. The best 4 albums and they played the whole songs.

Saw the same Tour in Tucson Arizona..in 1989.
Actually my first Metallica concert 😊.
Now im 50.

I looked up the setlist for the Rose Bowl show you went to and yes they did play Fade to Black. They also have some videos for Fuel and Battery from that show on their UA-cam channel that you guys could revisit. The year was actually 2017 though.
Metallics genius is that most of their songs whether they have lyrics or not, most every song makes masterful use of varying time signatures and an underlying classical structure along the lines of a symphony or an opus or something like that. Hetfield, Ulrich and Hammet are extremely good song writers and their musicality and use of so many thematic elements have stood the test of time.
The reason why their songwriting was somewhat influenced by classical music like you said, was because of Cliff Burton. He was the only member of Metallica that really knew music theory, so he wrote and helped then write plenty of metallica songs, effectively teaching them music theory.

I wasn't at this Seattle show, but did see them on this tour (Philadelphia Spectrum) and many other tours, and they were all awesome. If I remember correctly Queensryche opened for them and crushed it as well. I still go to shows, but nothing beats the concerts of the 80's. Dio, Maiden, Slayer, Lizzy Borden, King Diamond, just to name a few.

I love Metallica and this song, but did you know it was written by James Hetfield bc his Marshall amp got stolen?
People have linked this song with some deep meaning, and power to them as anything that helps people through a dark time is a good thing, but this song is about James losing his first amp and he loved it so much, THIS was how he felt knowing it was gone.
To say he had a lot of sentimental value in that amp would be putting it lightly.
