  • I took a stock 2024 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide ST on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway race track. Mission King Of The Baggers motorcycle race series has inspired the development of this new performance bagger from Harley. There is more than meets the eye with this bike and I reveal it all.

    Really appreciate the fact based review and honest feedback. I own the 23 CVO RG and when I saw the new CVO RG ST I had a little remorse for not waiting on the 24s. After this video; and the features I want on a bike and my riding style, I think I made the right choice (for me). Thanks Ryan! 👍🏻

    Horsepower and torque are rated at the crank so a simple cam install on a regular m8 should give you just as much power, been riding for 40 years, don’t need electronics to help

    • @mojomanmurph1925
      @mojomanmurph1925 6 місяців тому +2

      I agree but it's their money, not mine. For the same amount of money spent on the ST, one could build out a screaming hot rod of a motorcycle. But for those that want it all in a package from the get go, this works out for them. The ST is a awesome motorcycle coming out of the HD factory for what it is. To each their own, at least they are on two wheels.

      Agreed, not a fan of these ECM's either. My 22 came with RDRS and I cannot stand the electronic controlling, especially on and off the throttle. It definitely takes some of the fun factor away.

      You definitely need an electronic package to harness that 115hp and 120 trq on a 900lb motorcycle...lol.... all for 44k $$$$ woo-hoo!!! SMH

    Ryan,
    Great video! Purchased the black CVO ST two days ago. Harley demo rides sold me. Traded in my 2018 CVO Ltd in. The ST is very nimble and responsive. Had a heal shifter installed before departing from the dealership. It's night and day from my previous model. The screen is remarkable in direct sunlight. Road 130 miles and felt no fatigue. Also, no heat cooking your lower extremities. First Harley in 40 years that dont cook you. Fellow riders, deffinetly road test one! Brothers and sisters, stay safe!

    As always... Unbiased, straight forward review. Definitely my go to channel for information on products, accessories, and of course newly released motorcycles. Not to mention the instructional maintenance videos.
    Thanks a million Ryan for your time and effort. Would love to have the CVO ST in my garage to rip around on the twisties with and maybe some track time but like most of us... probably not going to happen. Keep doing what you do, you are appreciated. Herman Augusta,GA.

    I'm loving the new street glide fairing. The road glide I'm still warming up too. Like you I agree harley needs to incorporate an electronic suspension like the other mfgs are doing. They come out with that feature and put the new styling on the limited models and I'm gonna be trading up. My opinion but now harley is bringing bikes to the market and not just living off their name.

    Great review! Good point on the touring vs short blasts use and the need to rev this bike constantly higher. It is a choice and I made it already.
    Already ordered mine in black.
    FYI, there IS a two up seat already available (Switchback). It is the first selectable option on the “build your bike” icon. Two up seat looks great as well in black with red accents. I heard they are working on a sissy bar mount that would move the shock cylinders further back.

I do need a rider backrest for longer rides and touring so I’m not sure if the ST is set up to add that or if I would just have to get a new seat set up to make it that way. Hope they do come up with those things for this with the suspension stuff there. I’m kinda a local day rider with lots of curves and canyons. But do tour form time to time.

    Best invest is the 117 engine Road Glide.
    You can upgrade it with better parts than CVO ST..
    Ohlins suspension better from OEM Showa ( is not race special Showa edition like Ohlins or similar other brand).
    Engine upgrades - stages from several companies much better from OEM Screaming Eagle...lots of us know SE isn't offer true performance parts.
    Audio system from Volunteers Audio
    Exhausts from other companies for better sound, torque & horsepower or beautiness...
    Only CVO ST, brakes & the inverted fork (still needs upgrade with ohlins springs ) are good...
    ===================================
    Why limit your choices to 1 expensive model with mediocre components?
    ====================================
    And what is the gain?
    20-25 horses?
    These numbers are at the crank...at the back wheel are around true 110..
    😂😂😂...121 High Output myas...
    Marketing tricks, don't be fooled....be smart & choose the right one..
    Unless you're rich & get the CVO ST...throw
    exhaust,
    suspension,
    SE parts of engine
    & free the 121 engine potential power.
    Although, the difference of money between CVO ST & Road Glide can be invested for parts.
    Result would be far better from any CVO...
    Even if the cost exceeds the amount of initial ST price, you will have a unique bike with tons of hp, torgue & handling..
    CVO ST is just a Road Glide with Screaming Eagle parts..
    Showa is a OEM plain suspension..
    For my Road Glide i would not spent money to SE....
    There are better companies specialized for any need & wish.

I also really like the bagger racing it was about time Harley got back in the game. But and a big But the New CVO is 50grand plus in Canada. In the past I was able to buy and enjoy HD bikes but now they have priced them selves out of 90 percent of the new generation of motorcycle riders budget and there bikes are only for the rich people for a status symbol in a garage not many will ever track it. Too bad they are leaving the people that built there brand out of buying a New HD. Just my humble opinion

    127 hp and 145 lb ft of torque. I've been needing that from HD all my adult life. Now if they can just put this non VVT 121" into a regular Road Glide for 25k lol. Either way, I'm happy with what HD is doing. The base price on 2024 Road Glide and Street Glide are a damn good move in my opinion. It is my hope that HD and Indian keep one upping each other. This competition only gives us ever increasing amazing bikes. IM HERE FOR IT!

    Those horsepower and torque numbers quoting are not at the wheels but crank. At the wheels the horsepower and torque real numbers equal about a 114/117 stage 2. Throw in an additional 200 pounds of bike weight the new CVO ST is ALOT slower than any Streetbob or Lowrider stage 2. I have both and can confirm.

    I'm not entirely sure I agree that this bike wouldn't be the best for cross country riding but I understand it would be ran in a lower gear at higher speeds for RPM. I would assume that the same applies for a bike that has its cams upgraded. My 19 RGS been upgraded to 22XE cams and big pushrods etc, pulls 147 hp to 152 pounds of torque. Ride cross country every summer with no issues

    Amount of power has to feel crazy. Too much electronics for me, though. The electronically linked braking for example. Somehow the world has been turning for the last 100 years without it. Just another pile of wires in addition whatever’s stuffed under the seat and the rat’s nest that’s probably in the fairing. I guess I can understand the massive screen if it allows you to see readouts for oil temp/psi and other useful info, but man do we really need another fat screen to stare at in our lives? I might sound like an old timer, but I’m 31. :p The new suspension that you can just turn the knob to adjust is a massive improvement, I agree. They should be doing that on every bike given how expensive they are.

    Great video and nice bikes. Thanks for sharing. One comment though because I cannot help it. The rider in front of you at 5:26 with their foot down going around the turn to the right at the cones, does not need to be on this track or at least they need to dedicate some time learning how to ride a motorcycle for their own safety and the safety of others. Dragging your foot in a slow turn like that is a recipe for disaster. Sorry if that comes across as rude, not meant to be.

      Those numbers are the lean angle. Past that you drag some parts like I did. But there is a line on all bikes, at some point you'll get into the frame and then low side. All bikes have a limit and you just have to ride and know where that is and stop short.

    The two local HD dealers to me have ceased trading this week 😖. No doubt more will follow as people’s spendable incomes are squeezed by high prices and hidden taxes. Unless you buy a new HD, it is dealer serviced and mothered for the warranty period. For us peasants, it is to an independent or a diy job after that period.
