God is sufferings of a child, so a god would allow the suffering of a child? powerless or evil.

    Just finished watching.
    Excellent content!
I can tell you worked hard on that script to encapsulate and articulate everything carefully. I have had a lot of thoughts about this subject that I find it hard to eloquently convey but you've taken those thoughts that we share and you have the ability to articulate it in a fair and airtight manner. I'll be showing this video to others when this subject arises with the tag line 'listen to this, he says it better than me!'
Once again, wishing you all the best and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more content from you!

Hi bro, hope you and your love are both well and a joy to hear from you!
I'd love to debate with you at some point but you continuously echo my thoughts....Excellently articulated bro and yeah...Fry was just playing to the house, surely he knows better than that and he just seems to "play" Stephen Fry.
All the best mate and I hope we get to hear from you again soon. Love and light!

The entire point of being human IMO is to transmute suffering into learning, facilitating our progression as the divine beings we all are; from ants to elephants to grains of sand and humans all things are created form the same divine source

3:41 "since nothing can be made or destroyed, all the consciousness present in the universe must have been present..."
whoa... that's a total non sequitur. The first law of thermodynamics is that "matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed." You sneakily try to throw consciousness in there. Consciousness is not matter or energy. It's not really a "thing." Consciousness is our brains' way of describing the phenomenon of being self-aware. What exactly it is and why it is this way, I think, may beyond our brains' literal ability to fully comprehend. But thinking of consciousness as a measurable, finite thing is completely bonkers. It's not a concrete thing. It's an abstract noun. It's an emergent property of brains. No brains, no consciousness. When the brain stops working the consciousness ceases to be. It doesn't "transmute," because it's not matter or energy.
4:34 - "step into the heart" - what do you mean by that? "The heart" is a metaphor for your emotions. The actual heart just pumps blood. Your mind is contained in your brain, and also contains your emotions or "heart." Are you saying we should abandon reason because something makes us feel a certain way?
4:46 - that says nothing to me except that you've diluted the word "god" down to practical meaninglessness.
"God IS the bone cancer" LMAOOOOOOOO I had to stop the video, I went into convulsions from such hearty guffaws.
"he has a blind spot ... that I do not" ROFL the arrogance!
6:25 unironic complete agreement. Many western atheists are actually what I'd call "Christian atheists" because when arguing they assume the Xtian god and don't realize how vastly different the world's various religions and god conceptions are. That's why I'm so thoroughly unimpressed with Dawkins, and even less impressed with Harris and his unhealthy fixation on Islam.
6:50 - very true. The entire OT is plagiarized from Judaism, which is drastically different from Xtianity in many ways that Xtians are completely ignorant about.
8:57 - I think confronting and transmuting our suffering can be done in ways that don't involve a god or spirit by any definition.
9:25 "one which frees the believer from any kind of victimhood" yeah that's just atheism. You don't need knowledge of a "divine nature" to make peace with the chaotic and meaningless nature of the cosmos.
You and Stephen Fry seem, on a practical day-to-day level, practically the same in your theistic outlooks. You've just slapped the word "god" and "divine" on the universe and called it a day.
This video was uproariously funny, thanks for the upload! It sounds deep without saying _anything_. Cool visuals/music too.

I appreciate the effort that went into such a withering critique, & the attention that must have gone into listening to what was said in the video.
I have re-watched this video recently & whilst I take on board your criticisms & I think I can see where you're coming from, I stand by everything I said. This is still as true for me now as when I wrote it.
I don't think consciousness is an emergent property of brains. You can meditate or take certain drugs to experience very directly being part of everything & everything being part of yourself. That could be an illusion, but I don't think it is. I think separation is the illusion. It is possible to experience yourself as pure awareness, outside of your senses, outside of your thoughts. I believe that sensation goes way beyond chemicals in the brain & precedes the physical (& mental/emotional) experience entirely.
The heart is not just a metaphor for your emotions. Every physical structure in your body has a counterpart on other less dense planes of existence. The chakra system describes this. You do not need to abandon reason, but you may have to let your grip loosen a little if you want to get where I'm coming from. I'm attempting to bridge the gap between a materialist view of things, & a spiritual one. I don't see them as incompatible.
All spiritual teaching sounds deep without necessarily saying anything that you can mentally get your teeth into. The traditional metaphor used is; "like a finger pointing the way to the moon - Don't focus on the finger or you will miss all the heavenly glory". I learn the most when I take a talk by Alan Watts (or whoever else it may be), download the audio & listen to it whilst I work or do the dishes or whatever. I don't get hung up on the words, but let the sense of the thing flow into me without judgement. I notice when the mind gets triggered by this point or that, but I let it go. Part of me wants to learn to do what Alan & others do for me. To pass it on. & this youtube channel facilitates that desire. Thanks for watching & commenting.

Everyone has a personal definition of what they perceive god as. But is that a fair representation or simply a cop out? People seem to mold the idea of god to suit their own ideas, bias, beliefs and current cultural zeitgeist. I also believe that if you're unfortunate enough to one day find out that you have cancer. I have a feeling that you will likely not feel that it is god metastasizing inside you.........

This just seems to be a video of egotism, pantheism, and just a bit weak in direction. What have you explained? All I got from this is that you think you have a better perception of how it all works than Stephen Fry. I mean, he's talking about the biblical God in the context of the question, where he's asked what he'd do at the pearly gates of heaven, when confronted with God. Which is in itself addressing the biblical God. He doesn't have a blind spot, I think you're just taking the conversation out of context.

Also, you'd probably like Alan Watts if you haven't encountered his books and lectures already.

@@myfrequencies1912 It's a bit of a taboo to talk about religion and politics, which makes it difficult when trying not to offend. So it's brave trying to tackle the subject, I just thought the direction was a bit swayed and explains something else. Which is your own belief about God, rather than what Fry is trying to get across. You state he has a blind spot that you don't, which I don't think is the case. I think if he was talking about the God you describe in your video then it would be a very different conversation. But you do also say that atheist speakers aim at the biblical God so it gets confusing in places. You have good points, I just think it lacks structure for it to make the conclusion you're trying to get across clearly. I shall sub and look forward to new videos however.

    • @myfrequencies1912

@@DanDevey I do not recognise taboos & I know that offence is always taken & not given, these things are not problems for me.
Yes, you have figured it out. I could have stated in a 15 second video that when we're debating against the maniacal jealous bully of a god detailed in the old testament of the bible, we'll always build a solid case with little effort (& of course I do get what Fry is saying!) But what a soft target!
My angle is that there is so much more encapsulated in this concept of "God". As an ex-atheist myself I know how easy it is to mentalise the whole thing & become confident in one's knowledge that there is no god. Now, through direct experience I have first hand knowledge that there is something beyond our perception, beyond our mind's grasp.
Thank you for watching & for challenging me. I don't make videos like this often, usually just vlogs. But if you are sticking around, welcome.

Clarify. Are you asking me if I'm aware that I'm the awareness behind the thinking (ie. not the persona), or are you asking for additional information about me within which to frame this single thread of my personal philosophy?
If it's the latter then you can see the rest of my channel. It's predominantly a personal story.
Without context a video like this is more or less useless for expanding anyone's understanding which is why I provide so much context.
