@Vahkiti Essentially within the game's files is a line of code that says "DemoKind", "Demo" If you switch it to "DemoKind", "Production", you can play both Green Hills.
@Vahkiti That's what I was saying. You can't get a level select BECAUSE it's the demo. They included a lot in the game, but not all the levels. They found City Escape, but it isn't playable.
@FalzarZ And there's the problem. Sonic 4 SHOULDN'T had been made with the Rush engine. And they said that although it was confirmed that Sonic 4 would have it's physics fixed, it was later stated that making any major changes to the way the game played would require extensive level redesign, which wasn't possilbe in the time limit set until the game's release.
@VerendumProductions Not the uncurling, but the friction. You only uncurled when you slowed down, and that slowing down was caused by too much friction for the roll. Basically, before the friction was set too high, meaning you didn't actually accelerate down a slope if you just set yourself into a roll instantly. He kinda fixed here so that you can roll from standing still and have a decent amount of speed (it doesn't build up quite like it does in the Genesis games though).
@SiLeNtDo0m But he HAS the level select, (for Green Hill that is) not to mention modern Green Hill, and I'm asking how he unlocked it. Also the options menu is different.
@dcdids2011 The spindash for me was more like an speed booster rather than my main mean of movement. I used to spindash, press jump just a bit and then use the speed to keep running from there on. In Sonic adventure 2 the spindash was perfect for me cause u can uncurl at will and that was amazingly helpfull. Anyway, only time will tell if this game is gonna meet the expectations, but i say that (with or without problems) it will kick some serious ass.
Even though I never had an issue with the roll as it was, I have to say, that's a nice improvement, I hope SEGA takes notice of it because then the game just got an upgrade.
@XxMrmoneyKing yeah, you are right. I knew that but it still bothered me that fact, even if it was optional to roll all the time. Anyway, that was very helpfull back in the day so I hope they bring it here again, cause i know that every speedrun of classic sonic will be full of that instant spindash thing that rockets sonic like a missile xD
@Joshslick Well he made it so that rolling doesnt affect the speed. Let me explain, get your hands on sonic 2 and run, then press dpwm so he rolls. You will see that sonic will not lose momentum or at least it doesnt feel all akward when your rolling in This demo. If i dont explain well, then get your hands on the deom today and a sonic 2 rom and try pressing down on both games when you build up speed.
You don't actually need to extract the 00 file, open it with something that reads text (like notepad or wordpad ot Microsoft Word etc) and look for ApplicationSetting.lua in this list, you can just retype the line of code you need to change. I'll answer the other two via PM.
@NMFlemzy Needs better slope physics, which were a big part of the momentum based gameplay of the three classic titles. I'm not saying Generations won't be fun, because it looks like it will be, but it won't feel classic if it's not classic.
@VerendumProductions Ah, I read it and watch the video again. I see what was changed now. But it still seems like it's not really better. Actually it feels kinda off now cuz he was rolling going up or upside down in some parts. o_O I'm gonna assume he just comes out of the roll sooner maybe becuase we need to build up more momentum than we did in the classics, as in the classics it was hard to get OUT of the roll while here it requires more effort to stay in it. Not really a bad thing to me.
we're forgetting one thing here. How does this work on those loops, similar to Spring Yard Zone? (where you pressed down and your speed increased only by rolling up and down.)
@NMFlemzy Did you read my post? People who are "crying about the game not being 1000% the same" don't want it to be something like Sonic 4, which physics are VERY far from the classics (in fact, they are more like the Rush games), and want Sega to make the physics as close to the classics as they can. The physics are a big staple in what made the gameplay in the classics fun. THe physics in this game are a lot improved from Sonic 4, but some issues like scripted gameplay and rolling still remain
@Vahkiti sure, but if you succeed, could you upload a copy of the demo with Modern Sonic unlocked because I have obstacles of my own preventing me from doing this. Ok so if you've extraced the pkg file. Look for the file that says bb.cpk, inside that file is a file called #Application.ar.00 and inside that is a file called ApplicationSetting.lua. That file has the code you want to edit. Remember if it works, please give me a copy. Thanks.
@Jacktheinfinite101 Ok, first question, how do I extract the 00 files? Second, how do I recompile everything and third, will this be playable on an unmodded PS3 and if not is there any way to resign it?
@Vahkiti Well I don't think any of this is legal, but really, it's illegal to upload music and tv shows to YT without permission and yet people do it all the time.
@Jacktheinfinite101 Ok, I don't see why it would be illegal to do so but then again this is Sony we're talking about. In any case I'll give it a shot. =)
I know what changed here... but honestly I never liked the fact that Sonic goes faster while rolling... I mean, every time i saw a speed RUN the only thing i saw was a blue ball dashing through the stage... and i wanted to see Sonic RUNNING :( I love the running animation, not so much a blue ball... Anyway, i hope SEGA fix the friction for the roll so it can accelerate like it did back then, but i hope they make Sonic go more fast if he runs down hill instead of rolling down.
umm... okay. The other videos were interesting. But this one... I know you did something with the roll.. but it doesn't really look any better. Doesn't look worse just.... not better. o.O lol
@Vahkiti Essentially within the game's files is a line of code that says "DemoKind", "Demo" If you switch it to "DemoKind", "Production", you can play both Green Hills.

That's what I was saying. You can't get a level select BECAUSE it's the demo. They included a lot in the game, but not all the levels. They found City Escape, but it isn't playable.
@ImpossibleCarl69 It is. Sonic Generations is remixing several stages throughout Sonic's 20 years of games

@Jacktheinfinite101 Thank you very much. You wouldn't be able to tell me where this file is would you?
@SiLeNtDo0m But he HAS the level select, (for Green Hill that is) not to mention modern Green Hill, and I'm asking how he unlocked it. Also the options menu is different.
You're amazing!
@dcdids2011 The spindash for me was more like an speed booster rather than my main mean of movement. I used to spindash, press jump just a bit and then use the speed to keep running from there on. Even though I never had an issue with the roll as it was, I have to say, that's a nice improvement, I hope SEGA takes notice of it because then the game just got an upgrade.
So basically the physics properties of the roll were removed.
@SiLeNtDo0m Pretty damn close though, right? I think I'm basically asking what you thought of the demo, since you seem to know alot about it.
@VerendumProductions What do you mean?
If the pc version rumors are true, its a first day buy. I have a 360, but this proves the modding will be glorious.
@theGMANtheBOSS Was I talking about Sonic 4?

@Vahkiti
You don't cuz it's the demo.
@Jacktheinfinite101 Ok, well now I just need to recompile the CPK file and the pkg after that. Feel free to PM me. =P
we're forgetting one thing here.
How does this work on those loops, similar to Spring Yard Zone? (where you pressed down and your speed increased only by rolling up and down.)
@NMFlemzy If you know how Sonic 4 went down, then you might realize how much of a big deal to some people the physics are.
@NMFlemzy Did you read my post? People who are "crying about the game not being 1000% the same" don't want it to be something like Sonic 4, which physics are VERY far from the classics (in fact, they are more like the Rush games), and want Sega to make the physics as close to the classics as they can. There was NO rolling in the demo?
wat

Um...
Could anybody tell me what, exactly did he change?
One step closer to Classical perfection XD Now to remove some of the scripted events like in the S curves and springs.
@SiLeNtDo0m Yes, but he did. He can't possibly have the full game unless he's SEGA which he's not. Therefor it IS the demo.
@Vahkiti Well I don't think any of this is legal, but really, it's illegal to upload music and tv shows to YT without permission and yet people do it all the time.
@mugenstation360 Oh, I get it. he just made it so that rolling doesn't affect your momentum. I wish that I could try the demo. No PC demo. :(
Accidentally unscript the springs.
@Justinedx this is probably as close as anyones gonna get to Megadrive Physics
@Jacktheinfinite101 Ok, I don't see why it would be illegal to do so but then again this is Sony we're talking about. In any case I'll give it a shot. =)
@CATSFever I know that. I would like to know his method of doing so...
and then you accidentally a better game than sega
Folks, THIS is why I'm getting the PC version.
Now we just need to learn how you do all this
@Axxidous Read what Silentdoom said, he knows more about it than me.
@extrathebeast oooohh! i remember now. i played this at Six Flags =D it was fun
@NMFlemzy Tell that to Sonic 4.
I know what changed here... but honestly I never liked the fact that Sonic goes faster while rolling... I mean, every time i saw a speed RUN the only thing i saw was a blue ball dashing through the stage... and i wanted to see Sonic RUNNING :( I love the running animation, not so much a blue ball... what game station is this on?
@Axxidous He fixed uncurling.
Please forward this to Sega so that they can change that one value and make the game 50% better.
could you try giving modern sonic a spindash if you take requests and still are hacking this demo.
@dcdids2011 he rolls faster than he runs in his first game and in sonic advance
Question, is this the PS3 version and if so, how did you unlock the level select?
Dunno why every1s crying because the game doesnt play 1000% EXACTLY the same. Jheez. Its a good enough replica.
You should accidentally import this mod into the PC version :D
Dunno crying any1 because the game doesn't 1000% EXACTLY the same. Jheez. Its a good enough replica.
I wish Sega would accidentally on purpose make this game have Genesis physics.
Accidentally please?
And then I ask why SEGA hasn't hired you to be a programmer on this.
I am shocked and apalled.
You should accidentally a better Super Sonic.
Okay, yes I just posted, but...
1:27 OVERSHOOTING MY *ASS*
@theGMANtheBOSS your missing my point completely
Honestly I don'ts see what the big deal is.
umm... okay. The other videos were interesting. But this one... I know you did something with the roll.. but it doesn't really look any better. Doesn't look worse just.... not better. o.O lol
what
@bad1boy34 Jheez. Look at my grammar =/
@XxSuperShadicxX More like improved.
broken english FTW
broken english FTW and please accidentally a less pixelation plz
