      It's all fun and games until you're leaking or missing parts of yourself.

      Actually it was because they were so limited on what they could cut . But they made lass kick back than a standard bar .

      There was lots of industry grade equipment made in the 80’s that worked so well and never needing repair they put themselves out of business. Lots of 70’s broadcast equipment was that way.

      If using as intended they are easier and no more dangerous then any other saw.

      . Easier on the back cutting logs (as long as they are not in a pile) because the weight of the saw does most of the work.

    Those brush bows are dangerous. Lots of injuries from those.

    It was a very, VERY short lived concept . But those homies were a really well made saw . I's just put a 16-20" bar on it and use it as often as you need . :)

    Dad had an old Lombard Super Commango chainsaw. It was an absolute beast and could run through large pieces of tree with a sharp chain like butter.

    • @mainiac4pats
      @mainiac4pats Годину тому +1

      We had that one since either the late 60’s or early 70’s. Next saw was Sachs-Dolmar, that one had dampening against vibration, a kick-off and honestly ran super fast, faster than the Commango. But, dad always set it down and started the ol’ Lombard Commango for the big wood 🪵, it just had so much torque. I gotta say it was loud as hell. I can tell the sound of one to this day.

    The button next to the start/stop switch is the pump for the bar oil. I still have my dad's homelite xl12. It's basically the same saw, but with a 20 inch bar instead of the bow. It's idling a little high, thats why the chain never really stopped moving.

    I still use a pioneer chainsaw. Old enough that it doesn't have an anti kickback chain brake.

    Good motor. Do not try and cut anything but small brush with that bar. They are dangerous with anything over 1"

    Needs to be repaired. Chain should not spin at same time you pull starter cord. Was originally used to buck up Pulp wood.

    That’s is so dangerous that the chain just moves as soon it starts no wonder they stopped making them as they are super unsafe

    Kick back killer, replace the bar with a conventional bar. Then sell it and get a good used saw from a pawn shop. Like a Stihl or a Husky. Your homlite saw has no viboration dampers so your arms and elbows will suffer if you saw for all day.
