I saw this film when it debuted on network TV, it alone practically turned me into a Francophile. I was so sure that it was another Michel Le Grand soundtrack, for most of my life, that I never bothered to read Don Ellis in the credits. I was fooled because of the nod towards "Django" in the melody.
A damn shame Ellis was not given an Oscar nomination for this - or for the original (which I regard as one of the key scores of the 70s) - and its very likely we shall never see the like - a prog/avant grade jazz score! - for a mainstream film again. Ah, what we have lost. Oh, HOW we have lost.
The opening titles feel like a Looney Tunes cartoon XD hahahaha so unintentionally funny XD Felt like the show "Probe" - another poppin Warner Brothers title
don ellis was incredible. this is just beautiful.
He should've won a Grammy for this music.
