    This was the best grooming video ever!! So very good educational done! This video should all groomers see. But just a little tip, for even better grip on the coat take some Super Foam on the coat before you put on the chalk, it’s so very good and also take away the static on the coat.

      Hello Naomi, as soon as possible if its about starting a rolling coat.
      How can you start growing a rolling coat?
      The best time to begin this method is when the dog is 12-16 weeks old. You can gently start pulling the longest hairs every week.
      If you cannot start the process at this young age, you start with a 5-month old full coat. Initially, you hand-strip about a 10th of the coat. If you pull too much coat at once, you will not have a proper rolling coat. After this, you hand-strip a bit every two weeks.
      Do keep in mind that this method will not look good immediately. It takes 3-6 months to achieve a perfect rolling coat. The hairs you hand-strip will have grown back in 4 weeks and will be the topcoat in 8-12 weeks.
      Also have a look at our blog post, we have many information there , transgroom.com/en/blogs/hand-stripping-the-way-to-go

    What do you recommend for starting to roll a Brussels Griffon coat that has been previously shaved down or heavily scissored?

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  4 роки тому

      Hello Caroline, thank you for your comment. We don't know in what kind of condition the coat of the dog is. In normal circumstances we recommend to use the Show Tech Solid Stripper and grippy fingers. It's very important to handle the coat every week, even for a little bit . Is the dog sterilized or being shaved or scissored on a long term base, then it's a very difficult issue. It takes a long time te create a healthy coat again. ... if you have more questions , please don't hesitate to contact us ... Thank you !!!

    Thank you for the informative tutorial! My one rough coat Griffon's hair is very thin and doesn't have a thick coat or undercoat. What would you suggest?

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for Watching !!! Every coat is different . if you have a fine and delicate coat , don't take of the uppercoat , but thinning out the coat is much better. It takes time to get a coat in good shape .

    At what age do you start the handstripping?

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello , thank you for your question, We recommend to start as soon as possible . just for the dog, to get a positive experience , a relaxed experience on the grooming table . when you start handstripping when the dog is 8-10 months, he will not know this . Good luck . Kind regards,

    Looks like stripping is very uncomfortable for the little dog? Surely could the groomer use a wool carder?

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  3 роки тому

      Hello Trish , thank you for your comment. and Understand you opinion , However, wire coated breeds need to be handstripped. It's not uncomfortable , it's the way to groom a handstrip breed, yes, you can use a wool carder but still need to handstrip the coat . The hair is dead en need to be handstripped. so healthy coat can grow . Thank you .

    I just don't understand how this fits with being kind to a pet...? Please enlighten me. (why rip it's fur out?)

    • @TransgroomTV
      @TransgroomTV  4 роки тому +6

      Hi there! Hand-stripping is plucking out or pulling out dead hair with root and all so new hair can grow. Hand-stripping needs to be done on dog breeds that have a ruff or wiry coats. These coats have two types of hair: a soft and dense undercoat and a long and dense topcoat. By hand-stripping you remove the topcoat to reveal the dense, soft undercoat. Hand-stripping can be done with your fingers, but there are tools you can use: finger condoms, stripping stones, stripping knives and stripping combs. If you don't strip out this dead hair there will be too many hairs in the same follicle. This can cause bad infections and the coat will become dull and lose its texture. Stripping is the correct way to groom most Spaniels, Setters, Schnauzers and most Terrier breeds. Kind regards

      @@TransgroomTV Yes. And it doesn't hurt. My dogs fall asleep while I strip them. And my cairn terrier Charlie is a very pain sensitive dog and still likes to be hand stripped.

    this all looks painful & rather abusive, I've rescued two dogs now, I just dont get the whole pure breed over breeding, grooming, & all for human greed. OMG I cant watch this

      Hi, Grooming a dog is not a fight or abuse, it's taking care of the dogs, just like your Hairdresser does with your hair. Grooming is all about loving dogs, and the passion for them . So sorry you see it that way .
