  • A uniform way to play 3-octave arpeggios - every single key, major and minor, uses the same fingering. There is a chart available that goes along with the video: cellochaplin.wixsite.com/cell.... #cello #celloteacher

I think it's super useful to have things written down for reference, so I'm glad you went and got the pdf.

Cool, glad you watched this. I just had a big discussion today with a student about how to play this universal arpeggio fingering in tune.

Starting on 2 is a major positive game changer for me! I have tended to start with 1! Cheers again!

I think I mention that you can start on any finger, but that said I really do prefer starting on 2.

hey this is awesome. I play 3 and 4 octave arpeggios but with different fingerings Mine are more awkward than yours. These fingerings are much better I'm going to use them. DL'ed your pdf, thanks so much!! edit: ok lmao, i use the universal ones. But the first one in C is much better. so Ill use that one. also the G arpeggio is nice in open strings in 3 octaves. But you kinda have to do universal fingerings for DE,F, F# etc.

I actually teach the 3 octave arps with a different fingering first - it stays in first position, then goes up D string onto thumb.
