I love these paintings. They are so full of life. They are a celebration of humanity, and echo the Artist's bright soul. Her sense of community and the warmth she gives and gets back is saintly!
Excellent! A beautiful reminder that art is about connection and should be a celebration of life
This is so beautiful! As a community based expressive art therapist, I am so pleased this film was created. Thank you Aliza for the gifts your are bringing to your community.
Beautiful to see the direct impact art has had in the community and in the life of the sitters ❤
This video has me sobbing, amo la comunidad que han creado juntes, el amor se ve que es tan intenso, que bonito
Very moving and beautiful. To me, this is what I love about art and how artists can make a difference. It doesn't have to be portraits but something to give back, uplift and empower the community you live in is really what an artists role is. Thank you PBS for this very lovely episode of Art21. I think this is one of your best.
Very beautiful engagement in art and community. Very nice persons. Thank you to be what you are it gives hopes in humanity.
¡Me encanta su trabajo!
The art collective sounds cool, a place learn and express for immigrants and people who want to reach out to people. Just hearing a another language is wonderful in modern day America.
Beautiful story and beautiful art! Bravo!
A really moving and inspiring video #artwithpurpose

Your art and your art work very interesting
When you legally immigrate you get to keep your "materialism" with you.

Otro whitexican más en el "arte"...
yawn
Hate how this is being dismissed as sentimental, when it manages to uplift communities and gives a voice to the voiceless. Contemporary figuration doesn't have to all be debauchery, littered with hypersexualised bodies in murky spaces, it can also be a meaningful & enriching interaction between artist and sitter. Congratulations to Nisenbaum on her paintings and impressive use of colour.
The “voiceless” have a fuckin voice, this video just keeps the white savior narrative, move the fuk aside and actually share Black and Indigenous artists. White people fuckin lifting themselves on the backs of Black and Brown folk
