    Whoever wrote those lines for Bet in this episode when she was talking with Ken and Alec deserves an award! And the acting deserves one too. Best moments in Corrie 😊 well done.😮

    Bet walking in on Ken and her subsequent talk with Alec has to be one of the stand out moments in Corrie history. Brilliantly written and a top rate performance by all... so very moving. Golden memories to treasure.

      Yes very powerful. The way Bet was looking at him, I mean she's done that look a hundred times but it had another dimension to it plus Ken's face...Roach made him look like a very troubled man at the end of the line. A tear didn't come to my eye although it was quite emotional. I did catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and my eyes were a bit red but that's only coz I put the heating on.

      @@chrissywales6575 well, short of being with and physically stopping someone themselves, I suppose the thinking is to make it as difficult as possible with as many roadblocks as possible. If someone was truly trying to die by suicided, it might be their stop off at that last chemist/shop, that triggers something in their brain and makes them realise what they're intentions are. But apart from that, if someone truly wants to, they will.

She sneers and mocks everyone and has ideas above her station, despite the only reason she has ANYTHING is because she married money. And she is weaker than anyone she mocks, whenever the going got tough for her she would always do a runner. I just find her unlikable all round, and she was a nasty cow about poor Emily inviting her to go along to the tea dance. Mind you, Mavis was a bit snooty about Emily too, calling her an old maid. Mavis was happy enough for her company before she was married, she went on holiday with her and used to go to the pictures regularly with Emily.

    Everywhere you look on screen, there is an iconic character. Was it that it was a different period for soaps/TV/life in general (4 channels, more people watching each show as limited choice, and therefore everyone 'knew' these characters?) Or was it the writing and performances of the actors? Maybe both. But it just makes me so happy to remember the days of coming from my house, to my grannys or a friend's parents house etc and every house was watching the soaps (especially Corrie). We loved those characters.

    I bet the set dressers had a field day deciding which titles to stack Rita’s bookshelf with. Can’t make them all out cos they’re a bit blurry in the background but the Koko one is a horror mystery novel by Peter Straub. Just read the plot summary and it’s a bit gruesome so didn’t think it’d be to Rita’s taste. Perhaps it’s Jenny’s lol.

    I'm just wondering does anyone know where I can find the episode from this era of Coronation Street where there's the scene of Liz with teenage Steve and Andy in their house with the Home And Away theme song playing on their TV? I remember being surprised to hear it on that episode the last time I saw it here on UA-cam.

    Up to 2:26:03 For the last hour nothing really significant has happened and from what I can gather hidden under very thinly veiled storylines are couples splitting up, couples arguing over rumour and or paranoia or Rita who may get together and form a couple with...Reg!? Please someone tell me the latter goes no further. I know that relationships are the main stay in Corrie but with no secure storylines around any of the above, they stick out half a mile. I know I keep asking what happens next but it's because I haven't learned to be patient with these new extended never-getting-to-the- point-til-the-last-breath
    teasing, and it's getting on my wick.

    • @EveHenleySpread
      @EveHenleySpread  3 роки тому +7

      Well spoiler alert as I’m not that far ahead of you with my Corrie marathon.. no the relationship with Reg is very short lived of course , I have to say I do find Ken Morley’s portrayal of Reg quite funny in parts, his pompousness strutting around the supermarket are what keep me mildly interested. It’s when it gets to more Derek & Mavis storylines that I lose interest.. did the writers really think it was funny? Beggars belief! I’m not remotely interested in the drama side of things too..Gail & Martin? Will they get married? Will Ivy approve? Who gives a flying flamingo? Lol

      @@EveHenleySpread Reg is funny, like a character you'd find in an episode of George and Mildred. I was only kidding about the Rita thing all the rest I meant. That time mark I put up, if you watch an hour after and before it it's two hours of hardly any storey. Just now finished this month. I'll get a couple of hours in on Feb now.
