  • In this video I will make the M1A1 Abrams Academy 1/35 model.
This model is in the version that participated in the second gulf war in IRAQ in 2003.
I tried to improve the original kit by adding details not present in the model kit.
    Good vision.

Very nice. Thank you for the setp-by-step demonstration. I would use this as a reference for mine

awesome paint job mate, I've seen a lot of people just do the lines in black only not the whole model what would be the difference in doing so
    sorry beginner painter here
    thanks

We never tied anything to the top of the sponson boxes, you had to be able to get into them. We tied to the grunt rails on the side. Former 19Kilo

I've just noticed this is the same kit in Tamiyas boxes! It was that lower tub with all the Moulded on suspension that I first looked and thought hold on then the further you built it's same kit! Same kit used for there sep 2 kit aswell! I built the Tamiya one sep 2 then mengs sep 2 least the Tamiya academy one can be done on a weekend eh! Looks good mate👍

This is not the same kit. It might look similar, but not the same. The Tamiya kit is much more accurate with a better fit. I'm my opinion the academy kit is junk. There are so many inaccuracies that are known by the manufacturer and we're never corrected. If you don't believe me Google it.

@@kenbtheman many, many years ago, Academy DID rebox SOME Tamiya kits....this isn't one of them. The Academy kit is more a "copy", or "clone" of the Tamiya kit....

So I got this kit and, it’s my first kit I’ve ever built like this, and was just wondering if I have to glue every single piece that’s gets attached to eachother or do some pieces just snap on to eachother

If this is your first kit you're in trouble. The instructions are terrible, the fit is terrible, the accuracy is terrible, there are a lot of better options out there. But go ahead and build it the best you can and have fun, that's what it's all about. You can always use it for painting practice later on. I'm not saying you can't build a decent model or of it, you can somewhat.

Hello everyone, I recently bought some add ons for the M1A1 Abrams kit (M1A1 Abrams Accessory Set) , from a company called Legend. It's stuff to be added on the tank, such as barrels, crates, backpacks and so on. Problem is I don't understand how to separate the items from the sprue, since the sprue is incredibly though and thick. Can anyone help me with a suggestion? Many thanks.

its probably a resin kit and you need a hobby saw to cut them off

    • @aviotank

I also usually use a hobby saw for resin parts.
      Thanks for the comment!

Those are resin parts. NOT the same polystyrene plactic used in model kits. The resin dust, like from sanding or sawing it, is very toxic. Use wet-or-dry sand paper with water. You'll need a saw to CAREFULLY remove parts from the mold plugs. Also, Tamiya has a "Modern U.S. Equipment" accessory set with lots of cool parts for Abrams or Bradleys, or Humvees, and it's standard polystyrene....

Nice build but the kit is shiiiiiiaaaaaat. Parts do not fit properly at all especially in regards to the turret optics.

You got that right. Full of inaccuracies and bad parts fit. It's still okay for a fun build and you can always smash it to pieces when you've had enough
