I first learned the curve step jab from you guys years ago. I finally realized the tremendous value of it when I competed in boxing as a southpaw--highly effective! Everyone should learn it.

It ain’t wrong if it works for you. It works for you if you like throwing a lot of lead side tools. Also in wrestling and with a blade you’d lead with dominant hand.
Awesome collab! Just discovered the Jack Dempsey/JKD powerline and it has significantly added more power. You can tell Jeff leaves power off the jab by slightly tilting his elbow up. Sifu, in comparison, keeps his punch straight from the hips which keeps more of the kinetic energy.
Yeah - elbow down gives protection, power, accuracy and the structure to transfer power into the shot and also telegraphs way less. It also can cut through pretty much any turtle guard as well as exposing the outside lines... I've had a lot of success with it

Sifu James, I believe in what you are preaching about the advantage of standing with your lead hand especially with weapons. I just have two questions. Hope you could help me out. How can you incorporate a gun in your stance? Cuz when I observe shooters, their stance is in the usual strong hand at the rear unless if they are in a strong hand position. I lead with my dominate hand as well. It only makes sense; it is the hand you use the most why not have that as your "best" side forward. Now, I am left-handed so when I do this everyone thinks I am just in an orthodox boxing position.

Bruce never certified nor permitted Ted Wong to teach. Wong had no martial arts background ahead of meeting Bruce. Definitely didn't spend more time one on one with Bruce than someone like Taky Kimura. And even if he did, Bruce was still only ever showing Ted the most basic, rudimentary material because that's all he could do. And still, what does it say that Ted, supposedly, spent the most time training under Bruce and yet was never ranked above a basic 2nd rank, let alone certified. This is basic southpaw boxing material from the 1960s boxing magazines which Bruce taught beginners, but JKD? There's a reason Jeff, bar one side kick which came cheaply after a break in the spar (when Jeff was clearly not defending), was piecing up the "JKD" guy. It was just modern mma-style kickboxing Vs modern mma-style kickboxing: at which Jeff is clearly more experienced. Didn't see any JKD. Jeff was the one baiting, drawing, and intercepting the whole time, not the "JKD" guy. But if arbitrarily naming it JKD gets you customers and UA-cam hits then go for it. It's important to note that Bruce taught different things to different students through the years. He didn't teach Ted Wong the same thing he taught Jesse Glover or Bob Bremer.
