    Shalom! My wife and I have recently come to the realization, through God's Word, that we have been indoctrinated in many traditions and ways of men. As of late, YHWH has been purging our minds from these and we have even begun to keep the Sabbath and are on a journey of amazing discovery in His Torah and the rest of Scripture! Very exciting times but we have also been presented with various challenges and pressures. To start, our friends and family now view us as odd for going in this direction and have resorted to putting pressure on us to "not forsake the assembling of ourselves" even though they have absolutely no legitimate biblical argument for meeting on Sunday mornings or their outright dismissal of several of God's commandments. We are currently keeping the Sabbath at home with our immediate family but are praying for others who are sober and like-minded to fellowship with in God's timing.
    Grateful for your teachings. However, as we discover and discard traditions from our previously held Baptist influenced beliefs in order to follow Messiah and not men, we are also discovering that there are a myriad of traditions that are being adopted by many in the Hebrew Roots and Messianic movement that have no true correlation or justification in Scripture. It is starting to look like there are many who are so excited by the new revelations and begin to discard their previously held traditions but then quickly adopt new traditions that are just as questionable.
    Can you please shed some light on why many in the Hebrew Roots and Messianic Movement adopt traditions such as "Davidic Dancing" (i.e. choreographed dances and star like dance circles in services which is nothing like what we read anywhere in Scripture), "Prayer Candles and Blessings", "Shofar Blowing before and after every Sabbath", wearing a "Tallit and Kippah", etc. Also, what is your position concerning these and similar traditions being practiced by Hebrew Roots and Messianic circles? Would these not classify as traditions of men as well, if not clearly taught or supported by the Torah or the rest of the canon of Scripture?
    Grace and Peace in Yeshua!

      UA-cam isn't the best place for these types of long interactions. A better place to ask this would be on our contact us page on our website. You can find it here:www.119ministries.com/about-us/contact-us/

      I do pray blessings for my children at least once a week in our family prayers, mainly because I want Yahs blessing on my family.
      But I also prayed for blessings before I followed torah.
      We don't use the traditional prayers that the Jewish traditions call for.
      It seems too much like the catholic vain rambling.
      We use our own words when speaking to our creator.

      As far as wearing a kippa, we don't find that to be a command. In fact Yah requires men to keep their heads uncovered in His tabernacle.
      The prayer shawl is a pretty piece of cloth, but it as well is simply tradition.
      We do not use them in our prayers.

    The story of Saul's failure to do away with Agag is one of my favorites, since it shows that there may be such a far flung purpose to God's commandments that we can't always see in the moment. Saul's failure would culminate hundreds of years later when a descendent of Agag named Haman tried to annihilate the whole race of Jews but was stopped by a descendent of Shimei, whom David strangely had the inspiration to spare (Shimei tried to curse David, which normally would earn his demise). Listening to God, whether you understand right away or not, is important.

    ..having taken interest to listen to this teaching again, I consider our presumtuousness to do those things that is not intended. A good example is the steps taken which are recorded for us in Nu.14:34-45.
    It was our Father's good judgment that was exercised on His people. Can not we think that after our forefathers were cast out of His sight and scattered throughout the nations of the earth, that we may be doing the same thing in endeavoring to observe His feasts "outside" of Jerusalem?
    Perhaps a teaching over what I believe is a "huge" oversight, can be presented after some study. What makes us think to be so presumptuous to think we are pleasing our Father by festival observation in our "still" scattered states?

      Tell them to look up saturnalia (winter solstice). If they deny the history and truth behind these pagan holidays, and how it’s directly linked to the man made holidays we celebrate today, then they are willingly choosing to reject the knowledge of Truth.

    Yeshua's birth date is likely the last day of sixth month.
    * Yom Teruah starts at evening ON the day/date before 1st of 7th month.
    * Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem dwelling in a sukkah near relatives for the fall holy days and harvest Feast of Tabernacles.
    * Romans collected taxes at this time.
    * Guest rooms were filled
    so they built a cozy sukkah for birthing and to tabernacle in.
    * That mild new moon night the stars were brightly shining and the Son of God was squeezed out to the sound of loud trumpet blasts, joyful shouts and the teruah praises of heavenly hosts.
    * Christ's birth was on Yah's appointed "do no work" sacred day of joyful praise teruah to Y*H*W*H.
    * Yeshua will return in like manner with "shout" and "shofar" to fulfill that huge Yom Teruah event. HalleluYAH!

    I think its one thing if you do it yourself for your own net and know it's not God's law but when you start imposing it on others, or believing it's a commandment, then it becomes wrong. I dont do dishes on shabbat but ill wash a bottle because my twins need to eat. I dont see dishes as being much work but I still see them as work and hate doing them any other day lol, shabbat I don't do them. I make sure there is enough. If my kids need a plate that day I will wash them for their meals and then be done.

    Many, come out of the Christian mainstream church and reject everything that they were taught, I have even seen folks reject Yeshua. It is sad, Christianity has some things right, likewise so does Judaism. I love kiddush and liturgy from our Jewish brothers and I love the way our Christian brothers have taught us to love and be light.

      We test everything we hear, see and do against what the Bible says.
      We don’t necessarily test the Bible against itself. We should however study to show ourselves approved and to divide the Word of Truth against EVERYTHING so we are not deceived.

    • @Makeitmakesensejo
      @Makeitmakesensejo 5 років тому +2

      Because our enemy duplicates everything God does we are to study the word to show ourselves approved unto God. You test what someone teaches you and as I'm making this statement. You are to test everything. To me the word test here is seek out the truth to see if it is so.

    It's like my kids...soup always sounds great but I told them to make pretend soup. I'd rather they had listened and obeyed my voice when I said pretend soup because my wife gets home just in time to see them digging things from the fridge. I just thought they were pretending. They had the ketchup and mustard, buffalo sauce. A head of lettuce, mayo, hot dogs, I think a few other things. They were making daddy soup. It was cute but it eouodnt have been had they started.

    In regards to Easter specifically, the problem is with assuming that eggs and bunnies are fertility symbols (never mind the fact that the origins of Easter are _not_ pagan, as is usually claimed; the idea that the word "Easter" is derived from "Ēostre" or "Ishtar" is nothing more than folk etymology). Doing so ignores semiology. In some ancient and medieval pagan cultures, eggs and bunnies are indeed seen as fertility symbols. However, to the German Lutherans, who were the first to celebrate Easter as we know it today, bunnies and eggs were _not_ pagan fertility symbols. The meanings of symbols changes depending on what culture utilizes them. It's not "Christianization" or "claiming XYZ for Jesus", it's simply subjective symbolism. That said, I agree with the premise that Easter, along with other ostensibly Christian holidays, have become grossly commercialized. Many people focus on the Easter egg hunts and the cartoonish rabbits to the point that the resurrection of Yeshua becomes lost in translation. At the end of the day, if a Christian family wants to use bunnies and colorful eggs as decorations in their home, there's nothing wrong with it (as long as they understand what the true meaning of Easter is). It's a matter of conscience.
