Yup. Katie was completely outclassed and out "reasoned" ... when she realized how "in over her head" she was, it was on to the power-trip comment..."Since I am the one conducting this interview..."

01buttons1 Well, she prefaced it with "Invade their countries, kill their leaders". So, maybe, with their leaders out of the way, they'd be more likely to convert (according to her logic anyway). Ha ha. You know, I hear far more conservatives using the word "liberal" in a slanderous manner than I hear liberals using the word "conservative" in a slanderous manner. I have to wonder if these political pundits really believe the crap they spew or if it's just an act that they do for money.

Someone has to straighten Ann out. To let her ridiculous lies go unchallenged is just plain lazy. It's not easy to make s point with her constant interruptions and steam of consciousness whining on in the background but Katie held her to a higher standard. It was after all her interview and her show. She chose not to have it hijacked along with the truth. No, I don't care whether you're s conservative a liberal a libertarian ... A lie is a lie is a lie and tit for tat is exactly how you have to handle a liar as a guest-- you confront them. Period.

She really is great. Like when she laid into that piece of shit that calls itself journalism, Journal-News for releasing information on legal owners of guns, which the very act of doing that should be illegal, then hiring more security guards with, you guessed it, guns to protect them from the people whose information they just released.

Betaraybill 97 Ann Coulter is right about a lot of things...but she does the same thing by saying "Only Liberals use the word stupid". No conservatives do the same thing she's accusing liberals of. I see it all the time "liberals are idiots" etc. But I do agree with her about the way we argue and the way we dismiss people. We bring up these quotes that are grossly out of context or maybe just possibly a slip of the tongue and that quote will characterize a person there whole life. It doesn't matter what they said before or after the quote. Ann COulter is shocking..yes...but it's because she's honest. I hate that Katie Couric keeps bringing up quotes and transcripts etc. lets talk about right now...that's all that matter.

    • @betaraybill97
      @betaraybill97 9 років тому +2

In total agreement with you. The past should only be brought up when flat out lies are being perpetuated in the present. Recently Katie Couric interviewed Ted Cruz and brought up the fact that she was very happy with the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage. She said her views on gay marriage were not relevent because she was not running for POTUS. But that would only be true if she was an unbiased journalist which she is not and that was what Cruz was getting at. She wanted to neutralize him instead letting him state his case and let the viewers make up their own minds. She is just like that other successful journalist Soledad O'Brien. Where is she now?

Coulter has real and unique ideas that she is sharing with Americans.

I have a new-found respect for Ann Coulter. She showed a lot of courage even coming on the program in the first place, but then to be able to so deftly and handily grappple with Couric's attempts to skewer her (without even breaking a sweat) demonstrated skill that could almost be called artistic. Really, is this the best that the Left can do?

Ann stood her ground with truth and facts in the face of someone who was clearly trying to marginalize and discredit her. Wrong target, Couric.

the_others I've been aware of Ann Coulter for many years. At first I thought she was audacious out of a desire for personal fame... perhaps there is some truth in that, but that said, she is a remarkable woman. Certainly I've disagreed with her now and again, but her assets far outweigh her drawbacks. First, she's absolutely brilliant intellectually. Second, her power to focus goes far beyond almost anyone I've come across. In real time she can win any debate against most anyone... she takes them all on, including Maher. She's debated him more than a few times, and IMHO always wins, despite Maher's cheap debate tactics (which is his standard way of debating; he seldom goes to substance and the merits). Lastly, she does her own research and does it extremely well. Her books, if you can get past the sharp sarcastic wit, are rife with statistics that prove her positions and opinions.
One thing I give her personal credit for is proving that blacks are impoverished not due to skin color, but because society enables single motherhood, breaks up families, and it is this that causes the crime culture we see today. To be more specific, it was Lyndon Johnson's war on poverty that has been the single-most reason that blacks have been isolated and impoverished, and it is all due to breaking up the nuclear family unit. Ann proves it statistically, and I was humbled and impressed by her comprehensive study on the subject.
If you can point to me a debate she loses on youtube, I'd like to see it!

mollesjohn I love those with Maher too... Where it's her vs 3 leftists, and they get her to trip up on some minor technical detail and the short clip (as the rest of the debate she easily mops the floor with them) is titled "Coulter owned by Maher".

From the interview with Edmund Morris on the "Today" show, Sept. 29,1999
Couric: There has been a lot of outrage expressed by President Reagan's friends and associates about your use of the word "airhead."
    Morris: Yes.
Couric: To describe him, George Bush says it's brutal, grossly unfair, untrue. Ed Meese, former attorney general says it's not fair, and not true. Martin Fitzwater, former press secretary said it's totally inappropriate to describe the former president that way.
Morris: I agree with every single one of those. It's brutal and grossly unfair I did not call him an airhead. The quote as published first in the Washington Post dropped the word "apparent" before "head." What I said in the book, what appears plainly on the pages, I found him at first an 'apparent airhead.' And the whole course of the book makes it quite obvious that that first impression was wrong.
I got the above and my two posts below from a previous post on this video from 1 month ago by Boosh0070 and then he added a comment which I totally agree with,
"It seems as though Couric, in her conviction, was mistaken and Coulter knows her stuff..."

If nothing else, I'll say this: very rarely do we get to see two women debating seriously and ably on national television - and it's even more rare to see that video get over a million views on UA-cam. I'm no apologist for Ann Coulter or her work, but I think she did have a point when she implied Couric was using her power as the interviewer to scrutinize particular quotes out of context so that she might avoid engaging with Coulter's ideas. The quotes are real, and her ideas are shit, but the point was a fair one.

The thing about Anne Coulter is, I don't really believe that she believes the things she says. Oftentimes you can catch her, trying to rationalize some idiotic position she has taken, and you can tell she doesn't even believe it herself. She's taken it upon herself to act as a walking stereotype for some ludicrous ideology which most conservatives are actually embarrassed by. At least with Pat Buchanan you get an honest, if bigoted and xenophobic, but legitimate, reasoned opinion. Anne Coulter is in a hell of her own making where she can't even speak coherently for trying to cram as many neo-con catch phrases into every sentence. Nobody should stick that close to the program. It's actually kind of sad.
