Never know what you're going to get with starting a brush fire, seems each one is a little different. Great to hear Dallas is off to a great start at college; and prayers for Pete!
Hello Mr. Woodruff, Good to see You again, I figured work had You hostage. Snow covered brush piles are tough to light, first you melt the snow then evaporite the water, then after a gallon of diesel the wood finally burns, I do hope all is ok with your Family, and life is good.
All those leaves that were on the limbs when I piled them were rotting and were very wet. Looks like you are putting that defender to work at your place.
@@woodruffwoods yeah so far it’s been pretty good ! With these single digit temperatures we’re supposed to get here in the next few days going to put the heater to the test 🤣. Did you end up buying some thing? if I remember correctly you were looking at them
True. It was so frustrating. I never had that much trouble burning brush. I think it was because it was put there in the middle of summer and still had leaves on it. The leaves were rotting in the middle and retaining water.
Congratulations to your daughter on her awesome start to school. My daughter made straight A's and ended up top of her class as well in college. The Freshman year so many seem to struggle with the life changes and extra freedom. Alot flunk out and alot spend the next 3 maybe 4 years trying to catch up from not building good study skills right away. My daughter was an English major (I barely speak it most days) but I was able to instill in her that just graduating isnt enough in this tough world and being the best will get you noticed. Mom n Dad deserve a pat on the back for her success so far as well!👍
@woodruffwoods You are welcome and yes...She is well on her way! Each year will get better once the standard classes are over and start working towards her real interest!👍
It's a bad deal for Pete! Been praying for him and his family more since I heard about his accident. On that note, I have noticed most of the channels I follow have brought up his accident and the others that are professional fellers, have been talking about taking the time to gage the trees and canopy prior to putting the saw into the tree. PPE is important, but all the PPE in the world will not save a person if things go horribly wrong. The best PPE is use your knowledge and assess the situation along with a plan A and plan B before starting. God Bless and Peace to all!
Great comment and advice. Not sure if you watch Guilty of Treeson but Jeb from that channel lost his life in a tree accident. I often think about that when I am doing felling work. Jeb cut more trees in a week than I do in a year and had extensive knowledge. it is a dangerous activity and lack of knowledge will get someone hurt. Pete has a long road ahead of him so we all need to keep praying for him. Thanks for taking the time to post such a well thought out message.
@@woodruffwoods Yes I do watch Guilty of Teeson. Jeb was an outstanding woodsman, I do remember see about his accident. It's just a good reminder to take your time when going out. Even if not working alone, accidents happen and sometimes there is no coming back from it. Stay safe, and enjoy every minute of life!
It is so hard to light a brush pile on fire with all that snow on it. I had a heck of a time getting the fire pit light this week, 2 rain storms and 2 snow storms on it, but I got it
Hey, Darrin. Sorry about your atv. It sounds like the valves let you down. It's good to hear Dallas is doing well. I hope Pete is doing better. Kenny Ps..I'll let on I never witnessed the brush fire😅
I am not sure what happened to the Brute Force 650 but the shop told me they have seen many of them over the years with similar failures. Are you not permitted to burn brush in your region?
@woodruffwoods we have to file for a burn permit, and the conditions must be in your favor. Even in the backyard, if someone complained the fire department will arrive and put it out. Nuts eh?
That is crazy! Where I am at there are really no rules on this. I do call the emergency line to let them know that I am doing a controlled burn just in case someone calls the fire company. @@OpenAirAdventureFirewood
I'm going to be attempting the same thing this weekend with a big brush pile, it can be a challenge with snow on the pile. You ready for the big upset of the Wild Card weekend when the Pack comes to big D?!?! lol
Del, that Kawasaki was a problem from day one. I probably should have sold it a long time ago. They are handy to have around the property but another expense as well.
Steelers fan here. Cowboys did not get a good win, it was handed to them. Hope that ref is unemployed next year. But he won't be cuz he was just following Goodell's script. Can't risk Detroit being the 1 seed
I think you may be referring to the Detroit game and I was referring to the Washington game. Officiating has been awful this year. I think the NFL needs to hire refs and train them with a consistent method. They need to figure out what the definition of a catch is without so much subjectivity. They could also look at technology for ball placement. Oddly enough I am a Cowboys fan that roots for the Steelers unless they play the Cowboys.
@@woodruffwoods live WNY , only root for Bills when Pitt needs them to for playoffs. Yes, Detroit game. Just had lil discussion w WD30 along the lines of us having no clue when you're shooting the footage cuz no one gives date. Thought your snow was what we just got couple days ago. Wait, would've been, I'm wk behind w my rant sorry

I think the rotting leaves throughout that pile really made it burn slow. I guess I will have to light it again and see if we get some better results.
Prayers for Pete!🙏🙏
We are all pulling for him!

All is great Ben. Your assumption was correct and it has been a wild ride over the last few months.
This time of year is rough burning, especially with snow on the pile, but diesel always seems to do the trick 😂. 🙏🏻for Pete

Great video Darrin Woodruff at least the fire didn't get out of control. Please tell Dallas congratulations so far in college with the grades.
Thanks! Will do! She is doing great.
Hey Woodruff! Glad to see you back in action, bummer about your wheeler. It was nice catching up with ya, take care-Tony
I am going to be replacing the ATV soon. I am confident it won't be another Kawasaki.
Well Darrin it wasn’t a total loss of time and you got some fire wood 🪵 for the house 🏡 😊❤

We always had a couple of gals of used motor around to start brush fires. Works pretty good.
I think it works better as well. It seems to last longer than fuel.

Thanks for this great comment. We are really proud of her and I agree that the freshman experience can be a struggle. She seems to be adapting well.

Use old motor oil and diesel!! Works better. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Great tip! I would think the motor oil would last a bit longer.
👍👍
Thanks for checking in.
I hate the cold. Nothing works right in the cold. 😡
I hate mud!!!

If it were in Wisconsin I would worry but I have confidence in Texas
Hey Darrin , awesome job by Dallas on the 4.0 grades . I have heard about Pete . Hate to hear the Kawasaki went south on you !! 👍🏻🪵🔥🇺🇸
Del, that Kawasaki was a problem from day one. I probably should have sold it a long time ago. They are handy to have around the property but another expense as well.
Too bad about your Kawasaki I’ve always had great luck with Kawasaki, but it was always a mule that I run I can’t kill it just runs
I have had Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki. Never had a problem until I had this machine. Who knows, maybe it was made on a Friday.
Try an old tire..
That is the way I used to do it.
