16:31 “have another think coming” is actually the “more proper” version of the phrase, but because we don’t really use “think” as a noun in North America, it’s been displaced by “another thing” since the 70s.

Wow it's so beautiful there!! I want to go there!! I love pigeons too. My dad used to work in New York City and he told me he would sit on the park benches on his lunch and feed them and some even ate out of his hand. I love that story and it's a great memory of my dad. 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️

Toronto can be overwhelming, I felt like that when I moved there from a small town years ago. However there are some wonderful world class places to see and shop in. I love love love the ROM and the AGO . The Christmas Village Market in Historical Distillery District is something else this time of year and the used book stores are incredible, so many good finds I have made .
emma if the audiobook is going to expire and it returns by itself, put yourself on flight mode until you finish it! it stops it from returning. also, nespresso machines are on sale on boxing day and other shopping holidays!

Yea a lot of those pigeons sure are plump. They eat. Even if people don't directly feed the pigeons and the other city critters, since it's a huge city, they can do good just by getting the food people drop. They know where to go. There are always a ton of birds hanging out in this McDonald's parking lot in my area; just waiting for a stray French fry to fall out of someone's bag.
That looks like a lovely time in Toronto.
Back in the 1980’s, I would often take the bus from Owen Sound to spend a weekend in Toronto to see the sights. Casa Loma was a place I visited a couple times. And I would often shop at a place run by Coles called “The World’s Biggest Bookstore” near the Eaton Centre.

honestly, i love all the canadian rep!! i go to school in windsor, o.n. and i sometimes take the train home as well, so when i saw you get on the train i was so excited!! also, as a canadian i haven't been to the r.o.m. either but in high school i did go to the a.g.o. for an art trip and it was amazingggg. next time you should for sure check it out. merry christmas emma, and i hope you and your family stay safe!!
sidenote: i recently learned that the phrase "another think coming" is the actual correct usage of the phrase. apparently it was first used my jane austen and it's supposed to mean "think again". i know it sounds wild but it's true.

I have wanted to visit Toronto ever since reading Fables of Brunswick Drive by Katherine Govier.
And Montreal after reading Morley Callaghan's The Loved and the Lost and Mordecai Richler's The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz.
I would love to see the small Ontario towns in the fiction of Alice Munro and Jane Urquhart, if not for my fear of long flights.

My favourite bookstore in Toronto is David Mason books, they specialize in old books and first editions, I got a 3 book set of the divine comedy printed in Italy in 1812 and they also have 2 bookstore cats

As always it's a lot of fun to watch your videos. I went to Casa Loma yesterday too and I can't decide if I love the library or the observatory more. Also apparently the people who lived there weren't big readers which is such a shame when they had SO much space for books (as per the tour guide thingy)

Really wonderful to see that you were in my home city. You may have been at the Bay and Bloor Indigo. I too love pigeons! Some good souls feed the pigeons and most consider them an annoyance here but the downtown ones are such sweet and hungry birds that they will come up to anyone in the hopes of trusting them for some food. There's an author named James Thurber who wrote a story about pigeons I found insulting. He dissed them saying that they could not be seen for anything more than what they are which I could not disagree more with. The buildings to me are boring rather than scary but I guess as a tourist, not being used to them could make them intimidating. Anyways, I have enjoyed your booktube vlogs. You have interesting books to suggest and it has expanded my reading taste.
I loved your video so much, you are honestly my favorite youtuber. But just an FYI there were bugs crawling on the black berries at 10:15. Look at the top of the black berry on the bottom of the clip.
That mansion/castle is incredible. I'd love to live there! That's just my style. It is environmental whiplash to look outside and see a city, though.
Emma! I recommend you go to the BMV next time you're in Toronto, its a three story used bookstore right next to the ROM and its so cute! There's also a lot of really cool stores and bookshops near queen street, I was there a few days ago to see the nutcracker and its amazing! definitely check out kensington market too

"Another think coming is the older of the two, dating in use to the mid-19th century, and originated in British English. Another thing coming appears to have come about in American English several decades later, probably as a result of confusion regarding the original phrase. Another thing is the more recent turn of phrase and now is more common, though it is frequently criticized.

Actually, "another think (with a k) coming" is correct, and so is "another thing (with a g)." "Another thinK" was the original phrase, and "Another thinG" came later, and now they're both acceptable. (I just did a bunch of research after getting to that part of the video and this is what I have discovered).

Toronto looks beautiful. I'm from the UK and we have so many Pigeons here. Torquay is pronounced 'Tor-key' we have a few places called Quay (key) I'm not sure why they spell it that way:) Indigo bookshop looks so big!
Agree its tor-key. So cool to see the different squirrels, in the uk they are mainly grey and some are orange but yours are amazing and the pigeons look more shiny and patterned too.

As much as I love the country life, I found the metropolitan cities are much more attractive…you will like it if you give it a chance. You look great in green.

I live in Downtown Toronto and you were in my stomping grounds!!! But thanks to this pesky pandemic, I have not been to the ROM, Indigos or Casa Loma for at least 2 years!!! Tom Hiddleston? Meh.
