  • Got mine and it didn't charge, it was new old stock. Tried all chargers old and new, tried laptop type-c usb port, tried pc usb 2.0/3.0 ports...no luck.
I wanted to return it to seller but got the itch and opened it up. I followed this vid • samsung gear 360 camer...
I noticed there was a solidified white substance at the charge board of the battery. It probably leaked. When I removed the battery I noticed there the battery pouch had a hole already (see 00:05).
I tried hooking the battery to charge board but it didn't work. I almost gave up. Then got the idea to just skip the charge board as my 18650 I used for testing has its own board since it came from an earbud charger. And it worked!
On the connector ribbon, one side will have 2 thick traces. That is where you have to solder to. I found the ground by using multi meter against the ribbon trace and a screw near the connector on the board.
TIP on disassembling, if you found it hard to remove the 2nd half of the white shell, pry it from the bottom part (the area where the tripod mount is). Prying from the sides won't work or may damage the plastic as it is glued to metal. And prying around the lens area didn't work for me. This thing got loads of metal that is why it's damn heavy.

I used a 1000mAh 102050 battery, which is still too thick and a little less capacity. Charging it only goes up to 80% full. I had to grind some metal and remove the battery cover plate to make it fit.
The samsung battery was crazy thin maybe around 7mm (7x20x55mm to be exact). Which maybe the reason why it bloats eventually (similar to samsung phone batteries)

So you just used a small lipo RC battery? I was thinking of 3D printing an extra handle with some swapable batteries under the device.@@elbolegoya

Find a vape pen battery that is rechargeable and solder to the original BMS board that the original bad battery had and you will have a back up and running camera sealed like nothing happened

Can you describe, with closer photos the solders and the connection with the new battery? And what battery you used?

You just scrape carefully the ribbon cable to expose the copper. Then you can solder to it. From there you can attach a new 3.7v Lipo or Lion battery to it. Just make sure the new one has a charge/protection board (most pouch Lipo/Lion batteries already have it).
It is a bit hard to find similar capacity that will fit. You need a battery that will fit 7x20x55mm (like a 702050 battery) that is around 1200mah.
I haven't found one myself. Closest I found is a 10x20x50 1000mah (102050 battery) , so might need to dremel something.
