Morning people!! So glad to bring this video to you and hoping it helps not just with interviewing, but with all your intros! Lemme know what you need and please SUB so you don't miss my multi-time/week videos and live shows!!
Hi Andy, it’s nice to meet you. I watched one of your videos and used one of your example questions. I ended up landing the job. Thank you for helping people to professionalize themselves. I am about to graduate from college and I got a job in my field GIS. Again, thank you for helping get that job.
I just want to tell you Mr. LaCivita that regardless of how my interviews turn out I have really appreciated all of you videos and I think they have been a great help to me. I wish you the best! one last thing. I'd have you sit in on interview for all my senior management staff
Thank you for this tip, I rehearsed and delivered the phrase and you’re right, I was offered the job literally right away. The CEO was really impressed. I’m sure this simple tip helped land my job. Thank you again ! Good luck everyone 😄
Tomorrow I'm going for my first interview after 30 years of working for the same company, so this "how to build rapport instantly" video will come in very handy in a few hours!! :D
That would be super cool! I love polo as well. I have an old vintage shirt that says POLO on it and I used to collect the hats, but slowly lost them over time. Hey, quick question Andy, so I was able to get a second interview after getting rejected because I emailed the CEO and he gave the nod to give me a second round. I didn't have prior experience in Digital Ad Sales that's why they said no however, I have a math degree from a great school and have shown previous experience. What can I do in this second round interview to get the job despite not having the experience they want? Any advice or resources would be much appreciated brother! Interview is on Monday :) @@andylacivita

Can’t agree more!! Very powerful. As a matter of fact I realized how dum I am at the beginning of an interview call and how many opportunities I lost just because of this 😐

You have lots of great ideas and insights. It is much appreciated. However, being in sales, I "interview" a lot, and I would add that sometimes the chemistry is not right, no matter how well I think I prepared for the Moment.
This is VERY USEFUL! I had a phone interview yesterday (before seeing this video) and it went great! It was mostly just luck that it went well, but if I had seen this before the call, I would have had much more control over the process. You're absolutely right about the "pound for pound" value of this one.

I hope to build myself up even more in their eyes while I wait for an official offer $$$. I'm very anxious about the offer but I remembered someone told me, let them throw out the first numbers. So in the meantime I will continue to connect and build up my stock ...
Hey Andrew! I have watched many of your videos and brought your book. I am on my 5th interview for a director role. Your tip on building rapport from the start has worked wonders. In all of the interviews so far, I build rapport within 10 secs of them coming on the video. I have gotten a "I see we have a connection" is the response.
Glad I watched this one. I suppose I will get an interview pretty soon as it is an internal application and I got the predecessor of the job I applied for and her ex-boss both on my reference list. The predecessor was in the hiring committee of the hiring official one year ago and she did speak really high of her (hiring official). I will definitely start as you suggested. Thanks!
I am a big fan. Andy, you are great. Can you do a video on group interviews. Or being interviewed by a room full of people. This happened to me twice. The first time I went back twice to the same group of 5 and did not make it. The second time I walked into a room with what had to be 12, not kidding, and I decided to let them know what I thought if this farce. Make a long story short, I told them that if I knew I was on one those talent shows I would have put on a tux. Ripped into them while they were soeachless , got up and left.

@@andylacivita Great video as always. Pointed and action-oriented. I'll have to watch the group video and compare to how I did. I walked into one and found out right before. They apologized and mentioned everyone was going separate ways and it was one of the only ways I could meet everyone. Very senior to lower level. I would be building a new division for them. I looked around and said something like, "ok, 8 on 1. Throw out your best and I'll do mine" with a smile and making light of it. I made sure to look each person who answered in the eye, answered to the group and did a quick follow up with that person. Tough to watch 8 peoples facial expressions, but when I noticed anything, I jumped right in and asked if I could clarify anything for them. I did get the job btw. My bosses boss said my humor and quick initial response led the way for all of them and was key in their decision.
Hey Andy, I'm a medical sales rep and I just stumbled upon your posts here. Two questions: In the day and age of COVID, how do you do/don't shake hands. Is it a good idea to do or not to do? Second question. . .I've been out of interviewing for many years and see people doing different things in terms of what to wear for an interview. Should I wear a suit AND tie what's on par these days? Thanks!
You can forego the handshake. Go biz attire if in person unless they say otherwise. If video interview, you can wear a suit or biz casual, but I would probably check with them first either way if it's a video session.
I interviewed with someone who had an impressive résumé according to their LinkedIn profile, but I didn't know if I should say anything when I got on my call with her. I avoided it so as not to sound creepy. It sounds like I could have brought it up. In short, I want my résumé looks like hers some day.
Andrew, I notice that you often use the word you and yours when speaking to us. As YOU know, using 'you' is a powerful tool in conversations. Thank You!
Hi again supahero Andy! On Monday, I'll have an interview for customer service spec position at a doggie food webshop and advisory; I've got the very last open appointment. I've experienced it before that when the last candidate is on, interviewers can be bored, tired etc. Though I utilised your answer and question samples, their boredom influenced my act so it seemed unnatural. I want to prevent such a case to get repeated. I find such an issue is highly rapport-related because all secrets that influence the outcome, lie in what happens BEFORE the interview. So my question: how can I maintain the interviewers' interest in myself when I'm their candidate interviewed as last?
Hi Andy - prepping for an interview for a newly created executive position in my company, and my next interview is with a detractor who is not on board with the new position. Any tips? Or perhaps do you have any videos that address interviewing with detractors?
Toni! Lots of luck with the opportunity. Remember, the fastest way to get a detractor, or anyone for that matter, to buy in to something new, is to show them what’s in it for them. Find out why they’re opposed and then ask the what the best possible outcome for THEM will be if this position was a success. Etc etc. how could I personally help you and your team and so and so forth all the way to victory lane. 👊

I honestly think it's not good to tell the interviewer that you were "stalking" his/her profile online, unless you choose extremely well each and every word about it, otherwise it's very easy for him to consider you a creep or something. Also, I think it's very rude to ask the interviewer you just met 1 minute ago, why he is in the company for so long (if that's the case). I may be wrong, because I've never used these tactics before, but those are my thoughts.
