Dodgy Royal Mail delivery driver claims to have delivered my Item

- So yesterday I was due a parcel from Germany. I was looking forward to this as it is part of a project I have waited a long time for.
The delivery van arrived and after fumbling about in his van for a while he left after turning around in the neighbours drive. At this point, I wasn't too stressed, from the looks of it, he may have forgotten to load it on the van, he may bring it later or he may bring it tomorrow, I can live with that. What happens next outrages me and brings the already floundering Royal Mail into disrepute.
About an hour later, see the end of the video, I receive a notification saying my order has been delivered. As you can see, where the photo should be of the delivery it is just black, he has obviously covered the lens or something.
But now what? Is my parcel lost, god knows, I am off to the depot to complain!
Just to add to this, the parcel was delivered the next day, I now have two proof of deliveries for it. Had it not been delivered, the real problem would have been convincing the vendor, who was international, that I hadn't received it being as they had said I had. It was a very specialised piece of kit that had come in from Germany.
Definately agency driver - it's a post 4pm delivery (whereas proper Posties are usually AM, early PM), driver isn't in a uniform & it looks like packets only. Be warned - this is how Royal Mail want their staff to be, it's what the top RM brass want. Ironically, it was probably a 'proper' Postie who tidied up the mess made by the agency!

had problem of them saying 3 different tnings, unable to deliver,attempted delivery and item left at local courrier point. called amazon got refunded thankfully as trying to get anywhere with royal mail was a complete farce. i will be making sure its anyone else other than royal mail sending me items in future.
just looked at amazon about the items tracking again and now it saying out for delivery. ridiculous even though amazon said if it still comes i may keep it.

Doing what he did is a crime isn't it? The integrity of the Royal Mail used to be sacrosanct with heavy penalties for delivery workers who interfered with the process.
And may get worse if the impending £3 billion sale goes through.......

I remember when we had the same posty throughout my younger years, growing up, at least 20+ years, he was most likely there before I lived there and after I left...
Same familier face, knew everybody by name, safe, honest, trustworthy.
Since I've lived where I am now for the past 15 years I've lost count of how many posties we've had, often we'll have 2 or 3 different ones per week.
I've no idea what their names are, who they are? They have no clue who I am as my post often ends up in other letter boxes!
Funny thing is nothing went missing back then.....I'm talking 1970s...
Now with all the tech, stuff goes missing all the time, mostly things of value! 😲🤔😳

Gives me no confidence in royal mail. I see them wearing tracksuits & trainers. the days of a uniform & polished shoes has gone. I think the same about black cab drivers.
I sold a table lamp on eBay. Despite using copious amounts of cardboard and bubble wrap the parcel turned up at the buyers door looking like it was used as a chew toy for a rottweiler and the shade was destroyed. I had to reimburse the buyer and it ended up costing me £10.00.

Goodluck collecting your parcel 10's of miles away from the nearest Depot, they seem to think no-one works, where every other delivery service I've used just leaves the parcels in a safe-place anywhere they can find, to make matters worse their App doesn't even work so there's no setting a safe-place.

I live in a highrise flat and DPD also have a habit of doing this! F**ks me right off every time! I now just choose the option on their app to get it delivered to the local shop around the corner, and I haven't had a problem since.
They succeeded in making you do the job of the delivery. Sad.
Omg meeee too, i kept complaining and nothing ever changed. I was ordering heavy stuff and they did not want to carry them, i lived on the 3rd floor with a lift. It was all the time i waited all day at home for the delivery to only recieve the text msg 'they missed me' it truly pissed me off!!

Many RM employees struggle to read yet they pass the test by memorising the answers.
Thats not true it changes every time and there are timed questions to put numbers and postcodes in order. That being said it’s not difficult.

Well this is the future. This guy’s obviously agency staff (no uniform) who are sub contracted to replace a depleted workforce. Royal Mail want longer term employees to leave and be replaced with workers on a NEW contract. Working different hours with less conditions, less sick pay, annual leave etc. The executives that you see being grilled on the Post Office enquiry are the same type of people that run most businesses nowadays. They don’t care much for their employees but more for their bonuses. This is the type of staff that are replacing the ones that leave.

You won't get you're parcel back and he won't lose his job because by the looks of things he's an agency worker. This will be a long drawn out process the best you can hope for is that the item was sent with insurance and you can make a claim.
No its not. You report this to the company you made the purchase from. They should replace your purchase without fuss, and take up a counter claim with the Post office. No need for drama llama.
The sender makes any claim, not the recipient.
@GretatheEvilGremlin that's if the company is honest, but like I said you're best outcome is hopefully its insured and you can claim. I recive over 70 parcels a month from around the world. I guarantee this is what the outcome will be.

The supplier reimburses the customer, and takes up a counter claim against the courier. Ive literally just done it last week.

If the delivery man had stolen it, then he obviously returned it, (or replaced it and re-wrapped it!)
The FINAL destination of the parcel isn't in dispute. It''s the dishonest and haphazard attempts of the delivery driver to cover up his cock-up is the real problem.

As an ex postie you would know that uniform shortages sometimes meant that new starters did'nt always get uniform straight away, yes standards have slipped but try talking to management about that, oh and just before I go, the parcel was delivered the next you plank!!!

You were lucky. I was sent a photo of proof of delivery of a tracked parcel except it wasn't my front door or my feet. The Royal Mail GPS showed it went to a nearby house, but they didn't have the right front door (or my parcel). RM never found it or explained where it could have gone - the address is clear in the photo so there was some con going on.
Same happened to my brother at Christmas showed someones feet in the porch for a house but took him ages to find the house which was the other end of the street.

I'm always complaining about EVRI and YODEL, they're useless, they leave parcels at my door and claim thats delivered!! No! That's dumped, my ROYAL MAIL postmen are fantastic, I receive a txt when waiting for a parcel with a time window, they're friendly too, I had a fall a few weeks ago, black eyes, bruising etc, my postman saw this and asked did someone know, they did, but how kind was that! 😊
Definitely an Agency worker, it looks like he couldnt find the packet( thought he'd lost it) and has put his hand over the camera when taking a proog of delivery and low and behold the packet has turned up and been delivered properly

There was always the odd rotten egg who ruined reputations of the decent workers. Now it would seem the rotten eggs are the norm and decent workers desperate to retire from the shitshow asap.
Don’t be too hard on posties. Royal Mail management have achieved great leaps in destroying what was a honourable, steady job into a miserable, thankless drudge dealing with incompetent or hostile managers and customers.

Yodel are worse.....my postie who is ace saw a yodel driver toss a parcel over a hedge and drive off... apparently it was not that address for the parcel so he tossed it in the garden...my postie rescued it and took it upon himself to find the addrss and deliver it ...top man... this is the other side if how good they are...i live in the sticks where things sre shall we say less of a shambles...i am lucky good evri good dpd good RM but yodel are absolutely the pits...
The usual way of stealing parcels as told to me by a royal mail security officer was to stick another label with a different post address on top of the real address.
The double parking is what annoys me the most. Anyone wanting to pass him at that time would have to wait simply because he couldn't park another 15 foot back.

One day a male postman asked me if he could use my toilet in my flat. I refused. After that I had many problems with parcels delivery and letters. He kept my parcel in his van for 3 weeks deliberately to create a confusion with tracking system.
Although in this case you got your parcel it is becoming a problem where delivery staff keep items they've scanned as delivered and unless you have proof you'll lose out as you won't get any help once the delivery has been marked as delivered, I've seen videos on here where they drop the parcel by the door take a picture and then take it away again, I had a large item supposedly delivered a while ago marked as delivered in front of my house (they actually give you the location it was in), no item was delivered.
What difference does it make, what they claim, people died, were imprisoned, lives were ruined, and they lied, their employees are like the wind invisible but the job gets done so blame the wind UNTIL THEY FIND MONEY AMISS

I had a similar dispute with Royal Mail they insisted that the tracker showed their vehicle was parked outside my house and my parcel must have been delivered…luckily I had CCTV video evidence that the driver did not enter my driveway and just drove off.
The other one is getting an email that says they tried to deliver and were unable for whatever reason. And I’m in all day, nor any record of them on my Ring doorbell camera. Deffo not what they used to be. This guy is a bad driver. Is he even a postman?

When buying anything on line I have a policy of finding out which courier service they will use, if it's royal mail or hermes I decline the purchase and will buy from somewhere else. Not related to anyone working at DPD but they show how it should be done, very slick.
My brother had a similar issue with another well known delivery company. Only when he emailed video evidence that the driver never even left his vehicle did the company take the accusation seriously. The driver ended up dismissed. he was lucky he didn't end up with a criminal record.

These are agency drivers hence no uniform you will always get dodgy ones. In any buisness the trouble with agency the Royal Mail pay them they do basically as much or little as they want. The vans they use they have little or no respect for, lots have damage which they never report.They just park up at the end of the day the next day posties come for work find vans with damage unreported 😡😡 lots not all of them dont care they are still getting paid regardless so its a win win for them.
Had a dodgy experience myself with a tracked parcel that required signing. It was a play station 5 and they left it unsecured in my porch, and the driver had the cheek to sign it themselves so anyone could have stolen it.
I had exactly the same. I was waiting in for my parcel a royal nail van pulled up I cant say weather it had my parcel but it then drive up the road turned around came back and stoped again the drove away. The driver never got out. When I whent 3 days latter to the post office collection centre only to find it only opens for e hours a day between 8 and 10 am when everone is at work I eventually was told they had tried to deliver it twise but I never had the red card not even one. I complained and just like they treated there staff I never herd anything more from them profit over service. It need nationalising again
