The producer said she wanted Pat to be single again so they killed off Roy losing him and Mark we lost the decent people of Walford.

It was a very short-sighted decision. There were other ways to make Pat single. I did enjoy the Barry and Janine storyline though.

Lee Jones It wouldn’t have made much sense for him to leave, having his own business on the square as well as a house and a heartbroken son. Pat and Roy could have simply had a breakdown in their marriage after he discovered she had known about Natalie’s affair and they got a divorce. Nothing fancy or spectacular, and it could have kept them both on the square.
