This was one of he iconic songs of my childhood … a song of faith and vulnerability … so beautiful

My family was driving across the Nullarbor in 1983 and this song was being played by every station we tuned into. Mum and dad had just a few months before come back from a holiday in Singapore, and they loved this song because they stayed on the famous Orchard Road in Singapore. I would do anything for a time machine to just go back to these times.

Sad that Leo has now left UK he was such an underrated singer but arguably one of the best from the 70’s and 80’s along with Gilbert O’Sullivan.
First time I heard this song, I was with my uncle driving to a job we were working on.
The house was down a long driveway. Like an Orchard Rd.
I lost my uncle due to dementia 3 years ago.
This song always brings him back to me. Miss him so much. He was my 2nd father.

For some peculiar reason this song just jumped into my head tonight and I couldn’t remember the title so I came onto UA-cam to look up Leo Sayer to jog my memory. The years just fell away and my longing for easier and more fun times overwhelmed me. I detest almost everything about the 21st-century, apart from my loved ones whom I wouldn’t change for anything.

Such an emotional song. I love it so much when couples get back together again. I have had this happen to me, way before this song came out - but I know that feeling when couples reconnect. It's so overwhelming.

i was driving through the countryide in about 1983 when i caught this song on the radio...i was so drawn and moved i pulled over off the road to listen.
haunted by it i never heard it again for years.....

Just to bring this around full circle in a way. This song was playing on a radio in the background as I proposed to my wife. Every time I hear it, and that is not often enough, it brings me straight back to that moment. Thirty-six years and four grandchildren later we are still together and I love her as much now as I did then.

I remember watching him live at one of the smallest venues he has probably played in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia in the mid 80s. I think he was going to a bigger venue in Bahrain. Aramco probably paid well and so he dropped off there on the way. Orchard Road is my favourite song but he sang a lot of great songs so I hope he is well and happy and keep on singing!

Love this song. Basically it was the first studio run through with songwriter Alan Tarney on keyboards and a drum machine just to show Leo how the song would go. They couldn't improve it so released it as it was. Fantastic

Went to see Leo, 19th May 2019, what a memorable occasion,! He's still as wonderful as he ever was, absolutely brilliant,!!! I always felt that Leo never got the credit he deserved, such a talented singer /songwriter, long may he continue.

God heard this song in mount Sion Waterford last night on the radio and they cut the chorus so had to listen to the full version later what a beautiful song.

From what I've been gathering there is just 1 synth being used. A Fairlight CMI. And a single drum machine. The Fairlight for sure is analog magic.

Im so pleased to have found this this song to haunted me for years YES WHY was it so hard to find it stayed in my mind from first hearing it .
It is personal to Leo as he had a fling and things went bad at home etc and you can see it in the words and emotion of the vocals,the best comes from your own experiences,very few songs get to you and you dont tire of I Love this from the moment I heard it.
