    Invisible Face into Wah Wah is a god tier transition.

    Yessss, I'm so glad to hear that you're going for Polygondwanaland next, it's so different from the other albums and probably my favorite prog album

    Mr. Beat, Invisible Face and Wah Wah are so great and are a kind of fun reprieve from the structure of the album that all of the other songs follow. Whenever I come back to these tracks, I always appreciate the odd time signatures used.

    If you want to hear variety from song to sing, their album Omnium Gatherum is designed to showcase a little of everything they do. It’s a double album and can be pretty intense.

    After Poly do Laminated Denim. I think you'll really dig the jams and the fact it's played to a ticking clock the whole time. With no actual clock in the recording.

    I definitely think, with the format you do with your channel, maybe the concept albums you're supposed to listen to all at once probably weren't the best two albums to start your reaction journey with lol
    Looking forward to what you think of the tail end of nonagon!

      @@rockdariff lmao truuuue I guess I should say your foray into continuing your gizzard journey, nonagon and murder of the universe probably weren't the best albums to start with. Almost every other one of their albums is not nearly as tied together and has many longer songs that very much stand on their own and would be far more conducive to your format of reactions. What id love to see you react to is Ice Death, particularly some of the KEXP live performances!

      I think thats the one Im leaning towards after polygon

      @SgtPoodleSlayer Рік тому

      That sounds like a solid plan. Poly would show you another part of the 2016/2017 King Gizz sound spectrum, and then Ice Death would show you more of the jam-centric stuff they've been doing lately, as well as giving you some excellent live KEXP sessions to get a proper glimpse of the band in a live setting.

    King Gizz makes quite a bit of jazzy stuff, so if you like that, Quarters! and Sketches of Brunswick East (collab with Mild High Club) are their jazzier albums. Sketches is a little bit more of elevator music than Quarters, but I personally love it.
    Also, Celeste has an amazing soundtrack. Lena Raine is incredible.

    Dunno how I missed this video at the time! You might already know em but if you like your electronic chill out stuff, check out Carbon Based Lifeforms (not for the channel, just for your own time). Swedish duo, I often use them as bedtime music. There's the very occasional more uptempo bit but most of it is just really well executed ambient vibes. I presume you're already aware of them, but if not, Boards of Canada are a must.

    Dude the Celeste soundtrack is great - Lena Raine makes some awesome music. I'm a game developer so I like to listen to video game soundtracks here and there to keep me motivated, and Celeste is up there on the playlist. Gareth Coker is currently my favorite video game composer, most famous for the Ori games, and I would highly recommend checking out the Ori and the Will of the Wisps soundtrack sometime if you want (like just for fun, not telling you to listen to it for youtube or anything, haha). It's more orchestral though, not as synthy as Celeste, but it's wonderful background music for working. The game itself is also very good and has some incredible art design.

      Yeaaa I love both the ori games, Im ready for a 3rd….I hope one day I get the chance to write a video game soundtrack

    • @SgtPoodleSlayer
      @SgtPoodleSlayer Рік тому

      Oh, awesome! Yeah I would love another Ori game but Moon Studios is working on an ARPG now. Could still be cool, especially if it still has the great controls and art style of the Ori games. And you should totally try to get into video game music if that's what you want to do! Plenty of small game devs online would be thrilled to have someone of your ability make them some custom music, then you could have a few games in your portfolio to take to a bigger studio one day.

    lol my man, it seems like each KGLW video you explain yourself to the fans. KGLW fans are very passionate, so we tend to have a LOT opinions about the band. But you don't gotta worry about or justify any of your opinions. When you boil it down, I think most KGLW fans just want others to enjoy the band as well, and sometimes that makes us act overbearing or too intense. For example, lol... I'm one of the people pushing for Polygondwanaland (I can't wait to get your opinion on Crumbling Castle, please do the studio version. It has a sick ending that most live versions don't.) Just remember, you're gonna want to break it up kinda like you did Altered Beast. It's broken into 3 tracks per part, but you'll want all 3 in the same video. The order is:
    1) Crumbling Castle
    2) Polygondwanaland, The Castle In The Air, Deserted Dunes Welcome Weary Feet
    3) Inner Cell, Loyalty, Horology (best set in my opinion)
    4) Tetrachromacy, Searching..., The Fourth Colour

      Yea, I gotta get a better habit of not repeating myself too much, some of that is where this vid could be someones first time to my channel, part of it is I just say the first thoughts that pop up in my head, some of it is where Ill get dms from people on my IG…really Im always trying to get better at doin YT so thank you for the honest feedback

    Do your thing, man, it's all good. Even their worst is better than some bands' best. For me, I'm not a big fan of the songs with one-word hooks or super repetitive bass lines but THAT'S OK- there's a huge discography to listen to! Even if some things don't quite hit you've barely tapped a very deep well and recognize it's still one well worth digging into :)
    Looking forward to whatever direction you take your exploration....

    Honestly, I think you should go polar opposite after this record…Butterfly 3000, Sketches of Brunswick East, or Paper Mache Dream Balloon.

    I've listened to hundreds, if not thousands, of records in my life and I really didn't like much after the first listen. Writing about the fact that the album should be liked right away is pointless. Especially when you listen to it in pieces. KGLW's music surprises with its diversity and it takes some time to get used to it. She repays the fact that she does not get bored quickly and we still find something interesting in her. I'm impatiently waiting for the next album. One of my favorites in their discography.

    Before watching video what we can expect:
    - find a segue to talk about own band at any point eg "Well you see in my band..."
    - display an internal look of dissatisfaction that the guitars aren't as heavy as on petro dragonic
    All in good fun of course, just messing with ya 🤣
