Hey Juskim, i'm a teenager working on an identical project. I was very inspired by you and optimum and decided to develop a mouse that surpasses in weight. However, since my knowledge is limited, I have decided to work on a wired mouse. So far it weighs 12g. However, I plan to upgrade to carbon fiber and improve the ergonomics. With all this said, I hope to create a mouse that rivals your 9 gram wired mouse, and I wish for a forgiving rivalry. :)
I really hope there will be a path to getting this mouse. I ❤ the minimalist design. I’m curious which filaments he considered as there are a great range in strength/mass options. PS: I printed a version of the Bambu mouse and … it’s not great IMO and the problem is all related to the electronics.
It depends heavily on your usual style. Like I personally use "claw" grip, and I also didn't touch any of the mouse part except the sides & buttons. Meanwhile, someone used to bigger mouse (palm grip) won't like this mouse.
i claw grip, so i need the palm support, but when we're talking about something as light as 14 grams, that palm support isn't really needed just use your empty hand in the shape of fingertipping a weightless mouse, do you need the palm support? i doubt so, thats how it feels moving a 14 grams mouse
Do you know about light weight pla? Its pla with a foaming agent. That way you can use less filament to cover the same space. (Although its likely not as ridgid) Its used for rc planes mostly but it might be possible to design a lighter mouse with it. Also, have you seen the mice from g-wolves? They use the flares in the pcb to support the sides of the mouse. (Specifically the g-wolves htx) might be worth looking into
first of all that mouse is insane i want it NOW. also i think for your next version you should try to add some palm support, make like a small stick going out, then a pillar going up and some curved part of a sphere to support ur palm. (i would make it myself but no 3d printer or 3d modeling skills)
Just you wait bucko, I've got the most uncomfortable wireless sub 10g mouse incoming. Love this design tho for something actually usable lololol keep it up
make 2 of them, put one plugged into the charging cable, and play with the other, whenever the battery gets drained, just swap between them problem solved
NIce, the lightest I've gotten is ~25g with my Keychron M4 by drilling holes in the shell, and using a smaller battery. I also made it quick swappable using magnetic connectors.
Imagine using aerogel to make a mid support for hand (to make it more comfortable but keeping it light) and because of that it will be possible to have more space for a bigger battery
Battery solution, have 3 of them ready, 2 on charger one in use, all connected to the pc through a usb hub. One dies, swap for a charged one, and when you can plug in the old one
I need to make a light weight mouse with 6 side buttons since literally no manufacturer wants to make good moba mice anymore. Ideally it would just be the G604 but with speed holes and a rechargeable battery.
I have 2 challenges for you, 1. the lightest wireless mouse also with 2 side buttons (probably won't be that different) and 2. the lightest vr controllers
Subbed from reddit. I didn't go this insane but I designed a perfect debounce mouse with sync but .... When I got the pcb they didn't do the cutouts for the sensor or wheel and the sodering looked like it would be painful so gave up for a while to pursue other propjects. But I would totally yoink your schematic to mod to do those things.
I wish somebody designed one with side buttons. For me personally they're essential for switching to pistol and knife. Without a 3D printer at home that's not really possible though
hold on, are we not going to mention that monstrosity of a mouse on the right in the intro with a bunch of switches grafted on??????? edit: okay, it's from another video LOL IM NEW HERE
Use code juskim at incogni.com/juskim to get an exclusive 60% off an annual Incogni plan!
make the mouse same as the size and shape of the 8g wired one that u made
Be careful Optimum is gonna be staring through the window looking for the blueprints.
making it as light as possible but purposely add .19 gram of solder to get that NICE number buff is insane
optimum: bruh
THIS WHAT I THINKING AFTER SAW THE THUMBNAIL
@@albertfrengki REAL THO
basically the same mouse as the one optimum made just without the supports to make it more rigid

Yes, but I would love also a version with the initial bigger battery.
yaas!
i would love to have it
Yes and I want to build one then realised I have no idea what I'm doing
yes
I remember when gaming mouses came with weights you could add to make it heavier. And now we are talking about making it as light as possible XD
Most average pc owners on /r/pcmasterrace still loves it. So much so that they're often making fun of people who loves lightweight gaming mouse.
Still more ergonomic than the Apple Magic Mouse
I'm surprised the lack of hand support didn't make a difference to comfort
It depends heavily on your usual style. Like I personally use "claw" grip, and I also didn't touch any of the mouse part except the sides & buttons.

I use a logitech mouse, and i also use some sort of claw grip style. Almost never touched the top of the mouse while using it.

it really depends on how you grip your mouse. there's lots of room for innovation when you want to "safely" decrease weight and preserve ergonomics
the mouse with the dumbbell is crazy
the mouse has to get strong somehow

You can replace the buttons with a magnet sensor.or some other lighter sensor to be a litle lighter as vell.❤
Those sensors are not lighter
i think the next more technically advanced iteration should feature optical low latency switches since they've become a lot more available and tactile

Use lightweight filament to reduce weight of printed part even more. Lightweight filaments are used in RC planes to print parts.
I think some companies call it PLA Aero
would swappable batteries make it lighter without a charge port? 😅
looking forward to your future projects, happy I just found this channel 👍
yes! probably reduce by a gram or so
Amazing work. Love the Loki & Nibbles on the very professional schematic
Just you wait bucko, I've got the most uncomfortable wireless sub 10g mouse incoming. Love this design tho for something actually usable lololol keep it up
I want to see it!
Did you try power the mouse by induction?
And charge with the pad
The coil might be heavier than the tiny battery, but something i will investigate :D
make 2 of them, put one plugged into the charging cable, and play with the other, whenever the battery gets drained, just swap between them problem solved

when ever a new juskim video comes out it turns into the greatest video ever
Absolutely dying to see the RGB version of this. Oh my God! It looks like so much fun to build this. Oh and free soldering fumes. Yum!

Please keep working on this project. We want to see more upgrades
make it wirelessly powered
Imagine using aerogel to make a mid support for hand (to make it more comfortable but keeping it light) and because of that it will be possible to have more space for a bigger battery
Aerogel degrades over time sadly, so it's not feasible...
@ damn that sucks
A sub70 gram moba mouse would be an interesting next project
Saw this initially on Reddit. Love what you do!
what if you just made a glove with sensor at fingertip?
I'd love a vertical variant of this
In the future mouse will turn into a ring
I’m working on it 🙆🏻♂️
Is there anyway I could get the circuit board from this project?
Battery solution, have 3 of them ready, 2 on charger one in use, all connected to the pc through a usb hub.
One dies, swap for a charged one, and when you can plug in the old one
solution for battery is a mousepad that wirelessly provides charge to the mouse, or no battery and completely supply power using the mousepad
nice. just from the look i knew there had to be some optimum inspiration. that 1khz def aint gona last on that battery tho. not even including the rgb
then we'll just have to make the body and PCB much lighter, to pump up the battery capacity 😌
I need to make a light weight mouse with 6 side buttons since literally no manufacturer wants to make good moba mice anymore. Ideally it would just be the G604 but with speed holes and a rechargeable battery.
Optimums prolly fiending in a corner now

for the next iteration with the 1000hz polling rate, could u include all the schematics and information so that we can build our own?
yis, and i'm considering doing a Kickstater to sell them as kits to get FCC tested/certified so that anyone can use it
Now make the world's heaviest mouse
bro is the real stealer
Make it wireless with a coil hidden inside the mouse pad
nice now make it vertical

Here’s a tip for an even lighter mouse, get rid of all that ink!
Will this be added to your GitHub?
Not sure how Bambu Lab will feel about that..
lmao people getting tired from moving a mouse is crazy
Now try make the lightest gaming setup
a slight breeze, and it'll all blow away
Make it out of carbon fiber , it will make the overall product even lighter
? No
probably a couple grams lighter
Will the model be uploaded to your GitHub?
will you be open sourcing the schematic so that we can build it?
you MUST comercialise it $$$, we'd buy it 100%
Ultra, ultra, ultra light.
