Fun fact: The vessel is actually not 'heading for the Med' in the video, it's going towards Rotterdam. When you look on maps and search for Hoek van Holland you can see the thin barrier, followed by a bigger island shaped recreation, de Landtong Rozenburg. BUt also the bulk vessels on the other side of the Nieuwe Waterweg river shows it's going in. Just pointing out that bit,!

Very interesting as always but I still maintain that a large proportion of the Industry is as bent as a Nine Bob Note.
What I find more interesting is the capability of some of the ship builders to have the capacity to build combat vessels to circumvent the Montreux Convention.

If the crew of Alpha Nero are not getting paid, but were still being fed and had accomodation aboard, at what point if your wages were overdue, would you decide to leave the boat?
Presumably they were initially promised/convinced the overdue money would be paid.
As soon as they leave they need to start spending their own money, on living and onward travel to a new job.
If it were me in those circumstances, I'd be happy to stay put without wages, on a year long working vacation in Antigua, unless I had a very firm offer of employment elsewhere... or am I missing something?
It sounds like the boat WAS being fuelled and provisioned if suppliers bills had accumulated.
People have bills to pay at home. It's not just about being fed and having somewhere to sleep. The boat owes half a million dollars for unpaid fuel and provisions to local companies.
@@eSysmanSuperYachts do many crew maintain homes/families etc while away working? I've always assumed it was a nomadic lifestyle! 😄
I work in hospitality (hotels), where most staff who live in have no bills outside of their own entertainment.

I suppose I can make an inference based on just the stories of owners not being able to pay their crew, but generally, as an industry, is it a common occurrence for crew to not get paid? Is it a concern for anyone trying to break into that industry?
Hi, you say for many yachts that the crew are not paying paid, both past and present. Why do the crew not take things of value from the yacht to supplement or replace their wages. I assume that most of these highly valuable yachts have lots of high value items, paintings etc. on board?
I would say the Istanbul location would have been selected a couple of years back. Just for the logistics side of things. A venue would be selected in advance. Believe that you would begive anything. 🤣😂☺ I hope they have a lovely time. 🤦♂
