My aunt developed sepsis earlier this month. Not from an ectopic pregnancy, but just an infection. It got so bad that they had to put her in a coma for several weeks. The doctors said that her current recovery is a miracle, however, she still needs to go to physical therapy to learn how to use her limbs again because her muscles atrophied so badly while she was bed ridden, and just the other day, she had to get a lot of dead skin surgically removed from her hands and legs, as well as one of her fingers amputated because it died. Sepsis fucking sucks, and it's not an exaggeration to say that someone who is septic is courting death, because for the first two weeks of this news when she was first hospitalized, we got nothing but grave news and were preparing to be called in to be with her when they pull life support. I can't imagine having a pregnancy go wrong and having to wait for a crisis like this before you can get treated. What a nightmare.

Refusing to help should be a violation of their oaths. The AMA needs to step in and pay for lawyers to protect medical professionals that help patients.
I got pregnant several years ago. My husband and I had not been trying for very long, but I was fortunate enough to become pregnant. I had a miscarriage after 12 weeks. When I followed up with my doctor, I was told over the phone that I didn’t need a D&C to ensure there are no problems if I tried again. Fast forward years later after we had been trying ever since I recovered from the miscarriage, and we had zero success in getting pregnant. After going through several fertility treatments and exams, I was told that there was too much scar tissue in the ultrasound (because I did not receive a D&C), and it would not be likely we could conceive again, much less carry to term. It’s been over a decade now, and we would likely have kids if I had received a D&C. FYI, D&C procedures are considered an abortion method, even if the miscarriage has already happened.
This is a good reminder that D&Cs are more than "an abortion". It's important for the health of the woman. Unfortunately, zealotry is what gets in the way of understanding.
@@OzoPlaton No, because I didn’t realize until many years later that my inability to conceive was likely the scar tissue from not having a D&C procedure. I don’t believe the doctor meant any harm whatsoever, and not everyone develops scar tissue from miscarriages. There’s also no definitive proof that the scar tissue is the sole reason we couldn’t conceive again (it’s likely is the main reason) - there could be additional factors I’m not aware of. I’m happy with my life with my husband and my dogs, and a lawsuit wouldn’t do anyone any good. The post was really to highlight that a national abortion ban overlooks several key factors in women being ABLE to have kids if a ban (or other laws limiting certain care for women) is put in place. For some, there seems to be a very black and white version of the world where abortion procedures = always evil or bad with no grey area in between. The idea that that a fetus (who might be considered a person) overrules the rights of women, who we all know are definitely people, is pretty outlandish.
Leaving decisions on women's reproductive care up to the states makes about as much sense as letting states decide whether slavery is legal or not. Politicians need to stay the hell out of peoples' private medical care.
When I was first married I suffered a miscarriage. I needed a DNC. Luckily this happened in 1996. If it happened today I would likely have died or been left infertile. Thanks to my DNC I went on to have 3 beautiful children.
I shared a similar story. The gyno told me that 1 in 3 first pregnancies result in miscarriage. I wish this was common knowledge so that we could tackle the shame and stigma that comes with the loss.
I'm 40. I wanted 3 kids. Many miscarriages later, I have one child and am done risking my life to try for more. Skipping the details, ot just isn’t safe anymore. No matter how prefectly I use birth control, there will always be a chance it will fail and, I know this will be shocking to many conservatives, but I like my husband. 😅 I enjoy being married, and I don’t think celibacy is a viable option for most marriages, so I am very glad to live in a state that is protecting these rights.
That woman with the cyst is heartbreaking because she was pregnant at the time-she was literally doing what Republicans wanted her to do, but she punished anyway It really was never about babies, just making women suffer.

It's more of a huge corruption issue. The "half" of our country that support right wing extremism is likely less than 20%. But yes, the corrupt political class is trying to eliminate education and privatize it so that only their kids can get educated.
Yes. It’s actually more like 30% of the country is right wing. You can’t tell tho, it feels more like 50% because we provide the right wing low-population states an artificially inflated amount of influence in our elections (the electoral college). You may have heard of DEI, something right wingers hate, though they benefit from the DEI value inflating we give to their population empty states, which gives them more power in elections then they rightfully deserve. That’s how they successfully ruin the rest of our country, screwing over what the 70% of us want, through DEI (but they say they hate it) though it benefits them massively in the electoral college

Exactly! I started miscarrying at 21 weeks, maybe 2 weeks before. But, that's when I found out 21 weeks. Roe v. Wade saved my life and protected the two healthy babies I had years after. I did have to go to a neighboring state because my state limited it to 15 weeks if there was a heartbeat. That baby was going to fall out regardless and could rip my insides out, and if alone, I could bleed to death. Sadly, the fetus had its own terrible health problems and could never have survived on its own. We need to perjury the justices who cunningly perverted our SCOTUS just to take us backward.
Why do MEN feel they should have a say so about this?
Have you met men? 😂

Why is that guy still walking on unbroken legs?
This Paxton guy in Texas, so religious and righteous, had a mistress for years even though he is married. Probably still does. I wonder if she needed an abortion. He and his ilk make me sick.
At this point it's not a liberal or progressive talking point it's about politicians deciding what doctors recommend because of ideology. Medicine is about science not religion.
Is Texas now Gilead?! it is unbelievable that the 'so called' "land of the free and the home of the brave" is tolerating these Christo-fascists treading on women's rights. Texas needs to vote blue.
Oh, trust me, it's coming...
It was never about babies. It was always about control.
Your home state should not have jurisdiction over what you do when you’re in another state. That is ridiculous. That’s not how criminal jurisdiction works.

Texas isn’t even the best state in Texas
He's a terrible human being.
When men comment about our wellbeing they reveal everything about themselves.
I'm a father of three myself. But as a men I have nothing to do with pregnancy besides the fun and easy stuff. No single men should have a saying in a women's pregnancy. Being pregnant and giving birth is super demanding. I have no doubt that this could destroy someone's life in the wrong circumstances. So everyone without a uterus should hold there horses
So, just how much are women SUPPOSED to suffer? A minimum of 20 days?
Isn't it great that ancient men with no clue how human reproduction works are in charge of this?
as said in a Tupac song if you can not make one you have no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
She's not alone. And women have died because of these barbaric abortion restrictions.
Sorry about your troubles. Such a sad story. Thank you for the information. I really didn't think that deep into it.
@@AnalogOsprey did you sue?
Wasn't this the same guy that handed out fake 5 dollar bills to homeless people?

America is messed up. Hope you guys sort it out. Sounds like an education/information problem on a national scale.
If you need women to prove they're suffering to agree to not let them suffer you're not a good person.

Somebody should ask Paxton and Abbott why Texans who go to Nevada to gamble aren't arrested when they come home. After all, unless it's in one of a handful of native casinos, full on gambling is illegal in Texas, just like reproductive care is illegal. However, they only want to prosecute one of those when they occur out of state.
As much as I agree with you, the reason is they literally see it as murder. There is no getting through to them sadly.
